I went to take a shower, and when I got out I discovered my rabbit had escaped the xpen I had kept her in. Some unpopped popcorn kernels had spilled on the floor before I got in the shower (not ones from a buttery microwave popcorn bag, but those sort of kernels you pop on a stove). I wasn’t sure if I’d gotten them all picked up because I didn’t have my glasses and couldn’t see the floor well enough. Now I am really scared that I might have missed some, and my rabbit possibly ate one of the kernels while I was in the shower. I looked it up and it says popcorn gave give rabbits GI stasis. Do you think she could have eaten a popcorn kernel, or would they be too hard for her to eat? I can’t imagine there were too many on the floor, if there were any. Is there a length of time (number of hours?) after which if she’s still normal, I can assume she is alright? Any advice appreciated.

I’m not sure if an accidental kernel or two would have any ill effects, someone else might have a better idea of that. If she keeps eating and pooping normally for the next 12/24 hours I would say she’s fine. Keep an eye on her and just make sure she’s eating, drinking and pooping normally, if not I’d take her to the vet.

If sheonly ate the one kernel, I think she’ll be fine. Some rabbit muesli have maize kernels, and while mueslis are not healthy, they arent like instantaneously lethal.

Rabbits chew stuff they eat very well because they cant swallow stuff whole (theres a very narrow passage controlled by strong muscles where the esophagus and the stomach meet), and if she chewed one or two kernels, they would not harm her.

Make sure she is well hydrated, for example by serving her daily greens dripping wet.

Agree with the others, she’ll most likely be totally fine, just keep an eye on her. 🙂

These things happen all the time. I’m glad everyone was able to reassure you.
