Hi ! so I just adopted a bunny and she hasn’t pooped in the last 8 hours and I’m very anxious and worried..  Everything seems fine, I had her play pen ready for when she came home, she’s was really curious,  hasn’t lost her appetite, she’s done zoomies, and has been grooming. But I’m worried cause I can’t find any pellets (praying it’s not GI stasis) I’m hoping it’s just because of stress and she’ll poop later but she’s young only three months, and I don’t want to make her even more stressed by taking her to the vet? But I don’t want to wait either. Help please 😭

It is most likely the new transition, if you literally just got her. Do you have a litterbox set up for her? It could be that once she settles into a “home base”, she’ll start pooping while grazing on hay. If she is doing zoomies and eating, she is likely not going into stasis.

I agree with Wick, another thing that happens occasionally with my buns, is I’ll change out their litter box in the morning, and then throughout the day I see hardly anything in it, but then at night, they fill it up. 🙂

As long as she’s eating I wouldn’t worry just yet. Try not to hover too much, and give her some time to settle in on her own.

Yes I think just keep an eye on things! Lots of bunnies don’t poop too much during the day, but come night time they fill up that litter box. 🙂

Once you get to know your bun, you’ll better understand what’s normal for them. I was so anxious about EVERYTHING when I first got my bun Esther. After a week or two I calmed down a lot 🙂 . I’m sure she’s just fine, just settling in to her wonderful new home.

Sounds like she was just nervous from being in a new home. I’m glad everyone was able to reassure you and the poop finally came. 😉

Hahaha thank you!!! And just double checking, is it suppose to be really dark? I looked it up and it said it was a high in protein so I’m assuming it’s the alfalfa hay I’m feeding her, should I slowly transition to Timothy hay?

As long as her pellets have alfalfa in them you can start transitioning her to timothy hay.

I wouldn’t be overly concerned about the dark poops. But yes, you can switch to timothy hay if she is getting an alfalfa pellet.
