It has been so nice. I am so thankful for that because there literally has to be 2 feet of snow before they will cancel school. I hate having to struggle to get to school since the snow removal here is crap. They won’t even plow the side streets unless we get more than 4 inches. Then I would hate having to walk 5 blocks from my car to my class in the snow since they aren’t too quick to clear the sidewalks at school either. Yes, I hate snow.

I’ll send you snow on your Bday. You send me plane tickets. I’ll bring the wine.

I’m hoping the weather is finally going to break here. We’ve had forty below zero almost the entire of January.
I really need to get the whole pet family in for checkups. I cut one of Pip’s rear toenails off to the toe a week ago and it doesn’t look like it’s going to grow back and none of the bunnies are eating well. Ebon is still creating havoc 24/7 and as a result Jenna is not eating well either and may need anxiety meds. No regular sleep for months now is driving me insane. Financially things are falling apart…looks like both my tax and stock accountants are retiring and I have to find replacements pronto. They have given me little or no notice…highly unprofessional…
I don’t know…this year is already challenging me beyond my strengths.

I hope those with birthdays have happy ones. My hubby’s grandma turns 90 in a few days! O_o I can’t imagine being 90!

Lots of birthdays lately. My hubby’s grandma turned 99 this past Monday!

It’s going to be mid 40’s in WI this week! Unheard of! I keep hoping that maybe the worst of winter is going to be just over with…then this winter would have been so easy.

Going to visit my great grandpa Norman in FL soon he just turned 96. He built a patio by himself last summer .

Chacha bun has been having way too much fun now that she is completely free range She isn’t doing anything bad, but likes to jump on my bed in the morning. Like today, she jumped onto my bed, and thumped at me. I stood up in bed, and I put my hand on her head to give her pets. THAT IS WHAT SHE WANTED!! She gave finger kisses in return, and freaked out when my alarm went off Poor girl!

Wow, Mimz! That sounds horrible, I hope that this unseasonable heat wave that has hit the rest of us starts floating a bit your way.
It has been very warm here in OK as well. It has been a bit of a pain though because it is cold at night and really warm in the day. We bounce between 70 and 30. This means I need a coat while waiting at the bus stop in the morning but by noon I wish I had worn shorts.

I am super excited about this month. A friend of mine and I are potentially starting a very small business. We haven’t really hashed out many of the details yet but if it works out, it will mean a small amount of spending money for us both and an excellent addition to a resume!!!

The Hucklebun is doing well. She is growing more strict about our routine though. She follows a daily schedule that runs 15 min ahead of mine so I get to wake up 15 min early every day to an earthquake on the other side of the wall.

My sister is ticking me off a little. We’re taking care of my aunt’s 17 year old cat Reeses and since we have 2 cats of our own we have to keep her separate because they like to roughhouse. Reeses occasionally throws up from eating to fast. My sister refuses to let Reeses stay in her room for a week (half of which she’d be gone for at my dad’s) but will allow the bunnies to stay there, so I would have to move all the bunnies’ things, stress them out because they can’t get to their home, and besides that I’ve have just gotten Totoro litter trained. Her reason for not wanting the cat? Oh because she doesn’t want to have her room look ugly because she would have to cover up her papasan chair with a sheet.

It’s making me really mad because lately she’s going though a very selfish, self entitled 16 year old phase (we are a little over a year apart). Like for example I cleaned up a huge guinea pig cage and put her guinea pig in there and she yelled at me because she doesn’t want it to take up too much space in her room. Or she yelled my mom for leaving a soda out can when her bf was over because she doesn’t want him to “associate her with junk food.” (for some reason she wants people to think she only eats organic healthy food, part of it is my dad’s influence, he’s really hung up on appearences). She does no chores and insists she doesn’t have to because she goes to school, pshh her school is way easier than mine and I do my share. Grow up already!!!

My boyfriend just left for 4 months to work as a course assistant for an undergrad study abroad program in Costa Rica, and it will be the longest time we have been apart. Bunnyfriend, that sounds like such a pain. It must be the age range, my brother was just like that at 16. Hopefully, your sis grows out of it soon and that it doesn’t drive a wedge between the two of you. 🙂

This semester is already taking a toll on this little family. I guess Huckleberry was feeling ignored and neglected last night. I don’t get home until 5 or 9, depending on the day. BF works from home now but still has class. We both were studying last night around midnight when Huckles finally had enough of it!!! She started digging at the couch, the carpet, the doors… anything she could. I fed her and put her in her room. She went berserk! Finally, BF and I reached the same conclusion at the same time, let her out, got down on the floor with her and had an intense cuddle session. She loafed in between us and we gave her pets and snuggles and kisses. We then joked about our little toddler having tantrums and screaming “MOM! DAD! MOMMA! DADDY! HELLLLOO! MAAAAAA!!! DAAAAADDDDY!!!!” We finally got her to go to bed, too!

Oo! I wrote a rhetoric on deforestation last year and the Cloud Forest is one of the rainforests that I focused on, it looks so pretty in the photos! Zip lining through the rainforest is definitely something cool to think about possibly doing.

Remember to take a jacket and a poncho. When we were there, it was raining non-stop. The national park is gorgeous and there are lot’s of pretty birds. I agree, ziplines are a fun activity! Just make sure you go when it’s a little clearer out. It was awful when we went because the rain drops were pelting us in the face when we were going full speed. That part wasn’t pleasant. LOL

There is also a great artist co-op there that you should check out if you’re looking to go shopping. They have a great selection of jewelry and artwork made by local artisans and it provides them with income.

We’ve had weird weather here. Some days it’s hoody weather and then other days it’s like today: -26C. Hard to get your body used to it when it flip flops so much.

I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday and I look like a chipmunk. I’m trying to type with one hand holding an ice pack on my cheek while trying to drink coffee at the same time.

Yeah, Birthday month. The big 30 this year for me. Not planning anything special. Usually we just go out to eat.

Going to the vet with Bindi this afternoon for an ear re-check. Wish us luck.

Aw, silly Hannah – she doesn’t like being blocked off!

It hasn’t snowed much here this year, thankfully. Now it’s going 18F, 70F, 30F, 80F… it’s like uh, make up your mind so I know what clothes to keep out. lol I go out in the afternoon and don’t take my winter jacket and by evening I am freezing wishing I had brought it along!

I got some botanical hay for the buns yesterday, just to see if they like it – Stickers had her head in the bag, pushing the hay around so she could get the herbs out of it and throwing the timothy hay out of the mix and onto the floor. lol

Peppy thinks that she is a shoe. She thinks you should take her to school with you.

Michigan is well Michigan and the weather is constantly changing but this week we got up to the 40s. I saw so many people in shorts
Anyone got any exciting plans this weekend? (well besides chacha who’s going to bravely see scary movie )

I’m looking forward to staying home for the first weekend since January. And looks like it’s a good idea too. The house needs some maintenance. Three rooms lights are burnt out. The most recent addition, our closet where Bunjamin takes his afternoon naps. Of course I checked on him before my shower and what does the turd do? he thumps at me. How rude! I think the buns are feeling feisty for February. And of course there will be lots more thumping seeing as how I have to vacuum this weekend too. Bunjamin is going through his first big shed and there’s hair everywhere.

Since I can’t make new posts here with my phone, can I use the chat to ask for good vibes for my hubby this coming week? He’s scheduled for three different heart tests, one of which is that nasty chemical isotope test. The whole family is very worried and since his cousin just passed away from a heart attack over the holidays my hubby is proper terrified of the whole thing. This is a former Marine and NOTHING scares him with the exception of when we found out I had cancer.

And tell him he’s got it backwards. It’s by getting the tests that he will be fine. It’s only not getting them done that is what should really frighten him. My Dad got surprised with the need for a pacemaker 2 years ago, and my mother didn’t know about 98% blockage last year and got 2 emergency stents put in.
This year they are obviously healthier and doing well thanks to what they went through. Even their grandson noticed a big difference for the better. So let him have a healthy heart or good doctors.

Hope all turns out OK. If they find anything wrong, just remember treatment does a lot these days – my grandmother has heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, has had 3? heart attacks and has had those problems as long as I can remember, at least 20 years and she’s still going strong. As long as they catch it, they can do a lot to help!

Thanks Pam…yeah his dad (in his 70’s) also just had stents put in for some serious blockage. Not than any blockage at all isn’t serious, but, yeah…too many other people we know who are now having heart problems. It’s like when a woman finds out she’s pregnant; the formula and diaper commercials are suddenly quadrupling before her eyes. O_o

Just taking deep breaths and one day at a time right now. It really doesn’t sit comfortably that we live almost an hour from the hospital. And since we only recently got a new heart care center here, and no idea how fully they are staffed yet, we are not certain if he still wouldn’t need to be flown out of state for any complications. (headspin)

Aside from two weeks of cold weather which was still unseasonably warm (less than 30 below) we`ve had an amazing winter.

I used to get snow days in Ontario. Know what the criteria is here? 48 below without windchill. That`s only happened on a Saturday so -no deal. Yuck.

Ugh I remember that, K&K. Made me grumpy, hearing how cousins got snow days and we got… school days. Bah.

K&K you have my sympathy, just over 4 years ago I stayed in Edmonton from September til December and -22 celcius was more than cold enough for me! It was a beautiful place but unfortunately I had a horrible ‘friend’ who I was living with and ended up leaving the country 10 weeks into my year long visa.

My nails are currently painted purple.

One of my customers was blown away by the color purple (and my undershirt was a longsleeve purple, and I wear it under my work polo) and he was just stunned for words.. it was like he was trying to insult me. “Like they said, whatever makes you happy.”

I don’t like how stores like to water their produce 492798327498327 times. It makes the produce wither, it is a waste of water, and profits. Yuck o_O;;

Well, if they didn’t water them, they would likely wither faster. I think the water is mostly to keep them cool, being as they aren’t refrigerated. Left out in the wrm air they would wilt faster.

I got chewed out today. A customer was angry that I didn’t ask her if she wanted debit or credit. I can only do credit on my register, so why would I ask? I told her I was sorry and that I couldn’t do debit. She said I still should have asked, she said I needed to be respectful when dealing with other people’s money. Turned out she wanted it run as credit anyway, so what the heck was her problem? People are so messed up sometimes.

LBJ10, You should have told the woman “that’s a load of bunny poos!!!” What the heck was that woman’s problem?!!! From what I can tell, there is no difference in running it as a debit or credit, so who the heck cares. You shouldn’t be the one who cares, that is for sure! I have never felt that being asked how I want to pay is tied to good customer service! Besides, does the customer not slide their own card on those little key pad things? If so, that takes you entirely out of the equation. From what I have seen, even if the cashier is the one swiping it, asking the customer just throws them off! They dont usually care.

As for feeding veggies to the buns… I give Huckles a daily pile about that big and she still acts like she is starving to death… that could just be because she is a fatty fatty fat fat.

Huckleberry – No, I have to slide the card. The lady was just messed up. I have never had anyone get mad because their debit card was being ran as credit. People usually don’t even question it. It really doesn’t make a difference as far as their checking account goes. If it’s a debit card and it is taken as a credit card, it comes out of their checking account just the same. That’s what the Visa/Mastercard symbol is for, so you can use your debit card anywhere that accepts credit cards. I do know that some people want their debit card to be ran as credit though and not debit because they earn points with their bank if they do.

Bahaha Bunnyfriend! We’re in the same boat…you should see the piles of greens that Hazel gets TWICE a day. Each is probably as big as her 2 pound body. She’s just a LITTLE spoiled. But hey, she just went to the vet and weighs the same…wish I had that metabolism! Maybe I should eat only salad and pack some hay for snacks.

Wow, what a hassle tonight. Nobody wanted to go to bed. I put their food in there and they just sat there staring. I finally got Wooly in my giving him a nudge and telling him “bed”. Leopold, on the other hand, took off running when he saw I had Wooly corralled. He was flicking his feet at me and being a little turd. I finally had to resort to bribery.

i don’t mind the vegetables having water on them, but some stores soak the entire produce in water, and it is disgusting. Yack.

If I get romaine at my job, it is 1.49. At the Asian store, it is .99. However, at the Asian store, the romaine head is very very thin. o_O I don’t mind paying an extra .49 at my job for a full head of lettuce.

Cilantro – .39 cents at the Asian market (or 3 for 1.00) Or .69 at my job.
Italian Parsley – .59 at the Asian market, .79 at my job.
Dandelions – $1.50 at the Asian market
Chicory – $1.19-1.50 at Asian market, or 2.49 at my job (organic only at my job, no non-organic)
Red Leaf/Green Leaf – .99 at the Asian market (those tend to look fine, and not thin at all), or 1.49 at my job.

I go to both places – if Chacha needs food, I will pick up produce after work, as it is very convenient. I go to the Asian mart twice a week or so to get chicory and dandelions.

One of my coworkers came through my line tonight. She had carrots and the carrot tops detached and I asked her if I could have the tops (Chacha LOVES the carrot tops, but not carrots, go figure) and she said “Oh for your bunny? Yeah sure!!” My person in charge said it is okay (some people have gotten fired over the most stupid things) as long as I put it in a small bag. Heehe!

$2.99 for a small head of lettuce (I go through about 1 a day)

I get so excited when one of my bun veggie’s is on sale but that’s very rare in the winter. And it sucks that I can’t stock up because it just goes bad before they can eat it.

I don’t remember the prices of the stuff I don’t get regularly but around here…

Lettuce is like $.89 or .99 for a head. Lately it looks like crap though so I’ve been buying the pre-bagged stuff which is like $2.50 for 3 hearts.
Cilantro is like $1.00 a bushel and the bushels are small.
Parsley is same as Cilantro.
Dandelion Greens are $1.29 so are Collard Greens.

But Bunjamin being young his tastes keep changing so I’m constantly re-adjusting. The only thing that hasn’t changed is his love for lettuce. He likes every kind I’ve given him so far. I think he would even eat Iceburg (not that I’d give it to him).

Speaking of silly bunnies- His condo door has been open for about 15 minutes and he’s sitting in there staring me down. DINK! DOORS OPEN!

Usually lettuce is 1.00-1.25 at my job .. but seeing as it is winter..

I buy those plastic tubs of organic spring mix I do add some cilantro, parsley and carrot greens when they look tasty though. Cilantro and parsley the other day were both .99 a bunch, and they were nice sized bunches.

I buy the large plastic tubs of the organic spring mix, but the price has shot up to over $7. Ouch.

wow, really? the ones I get are 4.50 each, and they have enough to give my buns meals for 3 days each.

Are they they big ones or the small ones? They have small ones here too that are around $4. They don’t last too long. The big ones (not sure the size) last longer. It seems like they pack a lot more inside the package or something. The contents fluff up really nicely and I get a lot more out of those than I do, say two small ones.

I used to get the big packages for $4 to $5 all the time. Then the price went up.

I got a new horse today!!!!  Haha I actually cried, I’m a sap. She’s a grey 16 hh thoroughbred mare. I’m thinking of calling her Primrose. What do you guys think?? Open to any suggestions! I am just sooooooo happy right now!!

Yesterday I came home to a clogged bathtub drain with standing water in the tub… at some point today, my upstairs neighbor had RotoRooter out and now the drain works but my whole apartment smells like sewage. It’s like the construction workers of this apartment used macaroni noodles for the pipes! Every time it rains, the drains back up and when they are finally opened up, the place stinks. I CANT WAIT TO MOVE!!!!

Hard to sleep through, but it’s just so cute! This morning I turned over and didn’t realize he was up there still, so I spooked him, he was sleeping with me.

Bunnyfriend, thank you. With Buddy, my horse, I rode him western, only for leisure. Chicky, my stepmom’s horse was a barrel racer. I rode her some for warmups but I never got good enough at racing to ride in competitions. I freaked out when I would get close to the barrels… that was Buddy’s fault though because he had a sick sense of humor and liked to walk too close to trees and fences to try and knock me off. I rode English for a while when I was much younger. I loved jumping!

ChaCha – It’s funny that you posted that! LOL I just had a dream last night. Something about “funny” clover in the yard and that you shouldn’t let the rabbits eat it. Well, Leopold ate some and then I found him perching in a small tree. I went to see what the heck he was doing. He opened his mouth really wide, showing his teeth, and he had this crazed look in his eyes. Then he launched out of the tree and was going for my neck!

His face looked like the sick looking sheep on this movie my husband was watching. I told him he needs to stop watching IFC. It was some dumb movie about genetically altered sheep in New Zealand that had a thirst for humans. They had this sheep puppet pushing it’s way through a door and they were repeatedly shooting it with a shotgun. Um yeah..

Elrohwen: Wow I’d love to rides horses like that – my other TB named Foudini can be a tad nasty sometimes too (not to other horses but to me). I feel like sometimes those personalities can be common with show horses.

Meet Primrose First time meeting and riding her today! I don’t even have tack for her yet. Please excuse her coat; her neck, tail, and legs are severely discolored because she’s been out in the pasture 24/7, haha it looks so funny because you can clearly see where her blanket ends and where the grossness starts. She needs a bath but it was a lovely 10 degrees this morning. Not sure if she’s going to be good for showing but she’s very willing when I tried her out on some of those jumps so maybe she’ll just be a horse to ride for fun. She needs some work. She’s so sweet, no running away when I got her out of the pasture and she walked right back up to me after lunging. On a sad note Foudini has an abscess in his foot The vet drained it today, poor guy, his previous owner did not take care of him and his hoof was cracked when I first got him. The only stuff I’ve got of Prim right now is a couple short iPhone videos.

longhairmike: Cool pics!

Coyotes are pretty but they creep me out. There is an explosion of coyotes on the outskirts of where I live (I live in the city so none by my house, thankfully) and they are getting really brave, going onto people’s patios and stuff. A few small dogs and many cats have been killed where I keep my horse. When I ride at night, I can hear them. It’s really creepy. I hate bringing my horse back out to the paddock in the dark, I feel like I’m being watched.

bunnyfriend: She’s beautiful. I’ve actually never ridden a Thoroughbred, just cross-breds. Standardbreds are much more common around here.

I am so jealous of the last couple of pages of pictures! lol I always wanted to learn to ride, but my mother wouldn’t let me when I was a kid cause she was scared after Christopher Reeves had his accident. One day, lessons are on my list! Beautiful horses.

Mike: You always get cool pics. Must be nice seeing all the wildlife up close.

Boyfriend got mad cause his allergies were acting up… um, hello, you let my vacuum cleaner be broken for 2 weeks when I have been asking you to help me put the new belt in, what do you expect. o.O *slap* … (ok, what I wanted to do, not what I did lol) Got him to finally help me fix it (I can’t stretch the belt to put it in place, he barely could!) and vacuumed up 1 1/2 containers of rabbit fur, had to clean the filters twice before I even finished vacuuming. Powder sheds a lot. His only comment was “that couldn’t hurt”. Ya think!

Stickerbunny: You definitely should sometime!! It’s so relaxing. I wish my mom had gotten me lessons when I was a kid.

I hope so!! Right now I just wish I could master some things so I could move on.

I’ve been able to ride for a few minutes on English and one of my exes took me to one of the trail rides which did Western – but in both cases I didn’t really have control of the horse, it was just kind of following the herd on the trail and the owner had full control English… but I found English more comfortable, while Western was easier and required less attention to keep balance for my beginner skills. So not sure. I think I would have more luck getting my mother to try Western and if I could get her to try it, she’d love horses, just need to get her a really mellow mare (she’s more scared of male horses ) to ride one time and I don’t think she’d nag me again about how I am going to kill myself if I take riding lessons. For myself, would need to do more research before I decide.

Now that Momo has a much bigger space to live in, she does not seem as keen in coming out of her pen. We still offer her time out, but she sometimes is content not to take it. What is funny is when her “boyfriend” Seven tries to wander into her pen, she will go and sit in front of the door and block him. She is such a bossy little thing.

Sticker, it is pretty stinkin’ cute. She was eating the couch, like always, and I stuck my hand under the couch, scooper her out, then gave her a very light tap on the bum (I was just playing, it wasn’t a spanking) and she spun around and then popcorned. Later, she did that double skip you are talking about after she threw a can of pop off the table (and I do mean throw!!!)

And Chacha, *head explosion* at all that grumpiness.

Yup! Before I got a horse, I always said I would only ever own a gelding. So far I’ve owned 2 mares and no geldings. Winnie is not too bad, she’s actually pretty sweet but my previous mare, Tova, was what you describe as “Marish” which is just another word for you-know-what. She had this “I’m gonna kill you look” that would make even the most experienced horse person cringe!

Hehe well, I can ride anytime I want, since I am not living with her… I just hate putting up with her every day asking if I am still alive when I do something she finds dangerous lol “Yes, I am still alive – if I weren’t, you’d probably be one of the first to know ”

Aww, sounds like the instructor had a good bond with him I just need to get a job sorted so I can afford lessons hehe bunny supplies, bird supplies, bills and food pretty much take all the money atm with me not working – though… I guess I could stop spending $100 a month in bunny extras. But wheres the fun in that?

Powder is driving me nuts. He’s a VERY finicky rabbit and after 5 hours exactly, the litter box has to be cleaned, or he won’t use it cause he deems it dirty. Throughout the day, no problem, I just scoop out the little bit of mess he finds so offensive (like a handful of droppings and a tiny wet spot, really Powder?) but during the night it gets “too dirty” and he uses the carpet instead. Bah. I put him another litter box down, hoping that’ll fix it and the boyfriend will just have to live with two in the living room.

That reminds me of my cat. I remember my husband being mad because he thought the litter box smelled so he made me buy one of those covered litter boxes. Well, my kitty didn’t like it one bit. He proceeded to pee on the bathroom rug until I got rid of the cover on the litter box. Once it was gone, he was fine.

lol kitty showed him what he thought of that idea I guess. I don’t get why some people say the litter box smells – I can have JUST cleaned it, scrubbed it down and put new litter in it and boyfriend will be like “the litterbox stinks” … no, it’s probably the salad container you left on your desk instead of throwing away last night that stinks. Blah.

LPT awhhh Winnie is so pretty and sweet looking!!!

The mares at my stable can be real nasty!! They have a paddock all to themselves because they will seriously hurt the boys. Prim is sweet though and is the only mare in a pasture with geldings.

Stickerbunny – He did. My husband hated that cat. LOL His litter box did sort of smell like pee though. He was strange. He would keep peeing in the same spot and it wouldn’t dry. It was better if I used Yesterday’s News, but he didn’t like that kind of litter. He wanted the scoopable kind. That isn’t good for kitties to breath in, but he would get really mad if I didn’t use that kind of litter. I’m thinking it was the kind the previous owner used.

My dad’s birthday is next month.. and our toaster oven went kapoot T_________T Sooo, looks like I’ll be getting him a new one, along with some chocolate protein powder.

Chacha’s litter habits in my room are becoming a lot better! I’m not ashamed to admit she has her own box in my room!
Last night, I was on the laptop, and all of a sudden, I hear a vicious “THUMP!” from underneath the chair!! She wanted to be pet!! O_O…

I’ll be registering for classes on March 5th. I have filled out the FAFSA, and done my tax returns for this year. Do you recommend any sites for grants? I have been told that because I will be at a community college, there won’t be as much grants or a lesser amount will be given!

It is a beautiful day in Washington. When the sun comes out, it makes me want to break out the potting soil and wheat grass seeds! 

When I was in our community college, I had a PELL grant that covered a lot of the cost. You get less, yes, but the schooling also costs less. You can also usually get some extra money from extra curricular activities – like I got $500 a semester from being involved in theatre (talk to your financial advisor to see whats available at your school).

Pain is having a sharp bunny nail tear across your nipple. OMG that hurts.

ChaCha – It depends on your income and whether or not your parent(s) need to be included in the application. If you’re 26, then you don’t need that on the application. If you’re under 26, then you do. Since you only have one parent, that would actually work to your advantage as far as “need” goes. They will calculate stuff for you and then the school will determine how much to give you based on your “need” and how much tuition costs.

Sticker, I will get the Pell grant. I will be receiving a good amount, but from the recent taxes I did this year, that amount may go down for the 2012-2013 Fafsa -_-

LBJ, I am considered an independant, so it is based off of my income. 24 is the age over here so I didn’t need to put my dad’s income down (and if I did, I wouldn’t get much and couldn’t even go to school).

I just got home from seeing “Man on a Ledge.” My friend and I went to Target and saw many bunny related stuff for Easter. Ack! I am sucker for Peeps merchandise o_O

Is it 24? Maybe it’s 24. Anyway, if you file as an independent student then it will really depend on your income and how much tuition costs. I applied for financial aid for years and could never get it under my parents. When I was old enough to be considered “independent”, I applied and I still didn’t qualify. I made maybe $12,000 a year at the time and for some strange reason they said my EFC was $2,500. So they wouldn’t give me anything, not even a Pell grant for the community college here. I had to wait until I got married before I finally qualified. That was only because my husband is a student too. So it was 2 people in the household and 2 students.

I’m not sure how things are now since some things have changed in the last couple of years. New rules were made. There are some grants out there for people pursuing a specific degree, but usually it is for people at a 4 year college. Like I received the SMART grant because I was a science major (biology) at a 4 year university.

You can also see if your school has grants you can apply for. My undergrad institution had several need-based grants that were their own and I received 2 of them.

Look on halfprice and places like that, you can search books by ISBN to get the right one for the class, but it was a big money saver for my brothers gf, she got all her text books from online for 50-75% off for getting used ones, only a few ones did she ever have to buy full price. My community college also didn’t use the books too often in class, so check with the teacher if he intends to use it or not (only my Algebra, Psychology and English classes were the books used), if not you can go halfsies with another student just to say you have it for the school rules.

Yep, this was years ago though so things might have changed. I had to take one class at a time because that was all I could afford. By the time I applied for financial aid with a married status, I was ready to transfer my credits to a 4 year college. Tuition was MUCH more there, so that probably factored in there as well. But for the community college, $12,000 a year was apparently too much. Haha, I remember talking to someone in the financial aid office. They were like “well your tuition is only X each quarter and your EFC is Y”. And I was like “my tuition wouldn’t be only X if I could afford to go full time, it’s only X because I can only afford to take one class at a time”. The whole thing was ridiculous.

Yes, do try half.com for books. You can get good deals. Also look at the school’s bulletin boards or classifieds because sometimes students that are ahead of you are willing to sell their books to other students. They can get more than what the bookstore will give them if they sell them back there, but it would still be a good price for you.

My grandma said she would buy my books for the first quarter, so that I can start saving for books. I definitely will steer clear of the college bookstore, unless I see any ads posted for books being sold for cheaper (by other students).

Oww, I woke up with a sore neck, and realized that I forgot to put my phone on the charger. So it ended up on the back of my neck! Ack!

Ack! I sleep with the TV controller in the bed so I can turn off the TV after boyfriend goes to sleep (he has to sleep with movies on pretty loud, I have to sleep with perfect quiet/darkness) sometimes it gets in a bad spot, so I feel your pain! Gentle circular motion massage with lavender massage oil helps.

And after the semester, you can sell the books to other students or online instead of back to the bookstore too, that way you will have at least part of the next semesters book funds. Only problem with not shopping in the store is when the professor decides they want you to use some sort of software specific to the class they wrap the books up with, ugh, I hated when they did that … purposefully costing their students $100 or so for no reason. The software was always terrible too. lol

Agreed about re-selling books to straight to other students…if you keep the books in good condition, you can get a much better price than what the bookstore might pay to buy them back. Also, I’m not sure how the textbooks will work for you, but half of the textbooks that were “recommended” for my classes didn’t end up being used anyways…I always bought mine a couple of weeks into classes to make sure that I wasn’t spending money on books I’d never use.

Okay, so I’m feeling very discouraged with my class again. I was doing so much better with the homework assignments. A lot of them I got 100% on. I was feeling really confident about the quiz. I took the quiz tonight and I got a 60% on it. O_o I’m so frustrated now because there were 6 questions on the quiz (out of a total of 15) that were not covered by the homework assignments. For example, one question only gave the mean score of a sample. It didn’t give a standard deviation. It wanted you to calculate the standard error. In all the homework problems, you used the standard deviation to calculate the standard error. I had absolutely no clue how to solve the problem on the quiz. I emailed the professor about it, hopefully they will enlighten me as to what the heck is going on. I can take the quiz 2 more times before midnight tomorrow night. I’m just worried now about the test next week. You only get one shot at it.

Well my hubby had his chemical stress test today. He lived through it, so that’s half the battle. We’ll get results next week.
Tax time….UGH! My tax accountant retired this January (called me about halfway through the month to tell me) so now I have to find a new one. Since it’s estate taxes as well as personal (I’m an executress) I am seriously worried. One wrong move with this stuff and a certain gov’t agency will be breathing down my neck. Can’t do them myself….waaay too many rules to remember. I am so panicked.
On top of this, my bunnies have been terribly cooped up since the new pup got here and I need to find them new run space somewhere in the house that I can close off from her. I don’t trust her a bit around them. Mimzy’s arthritis is worsening and the other two are bored out of their skulls. Jenna’s fur is falling out all over now and still no idea what’s wrong with her. I’m so stressed I just want to stand out in my yard and scream! >_<

Need some vibes for my grandmother please.

She is getting a pacemaker put in this morning. Her heart is very weak and she had to go to the hospital because she kept fainting. Her heart actually stopped yesterday for 7 seconds. I’m very worried about her. She’s 89 but until now she’s been in great health. It’s hard to believe but even at her age, she’s still in shape enough to take care of her house, cook 3 meals a day and take care of my grampy. She’s a wonderful, caring person and we’re very close. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Vibes for your grandmother! My sister told me that mine is having similar issues, but in her case they need to repair the pacemaker. But they can’t as she has been sick

LPT – I hope your grandma does okay! My grandma had heart valves replaced, but it didn’t end well.

I got an email back from the professor about the quiz. He said that the material was covered in the video lectures. I have dug through some notes and found some mention of these things. I still don’t understand why there weren’t problems in the homework. If I have only seen something in passing, how does he expect me to recognize it on the quiz? I don’t think that is very fair.

Last week, I had a customer that said he just got back from the doctors and they could not believe that he was 91 years old! My jaw fell to the floor! The man was doing his own shopping, putting down his food on the register belt, and walking out the door! It made my day! Haha! He is an inspiration!

My hubby’s grandma just turned 99. Still does her shopping, cooks, cleans, plays with her cats. She just doesn’t drive now, gets my hubby’s mom to drive her to the store

Okay, so I went back and took the quiz 2 more times (we can take it 3 times). I got 93% (14 out of 15) both times. It doesn’t tell you what you missed and the questions were different each time. Oh well, that’s pretty good right?

A kid and his mom came through my line. The son is maybe 12 or 13? He is homeschooled and said “I want to be a grown up!” I stop, look up at him, put my hands my hips and say “Are you sure? Being a grown up is not fun at all!” His mom laughed hahaa.

I just bought some wine today. Last night, I was walking around my store. I walked past the wine section and saw a tetra box with a bunny on it! I almost dropped the head of romaine I was carrying, hahah!

I can’t figure out Stickers lately, she’s perfectly healthy but she’s being a total soandso – she thumps if she so much as sees Powder through the baby gate, like he’s a predator (never did that even when they were perfect strangers) and last night I tried to hang out with her some and she started biting/pulling at my pants like she was trying to drag me out of the room and then when that failed, started thumping at me until I vacated her palace. *sigh* She’s just started her first big molt, so I guess she’s feeling grumpy. But sheeesh! If I didn’t know for a fact she was spayed, I would call her hormonal.

He’s a little slow to get around now, but he still walks places, drives his own car, lives in his own condo, etc. My grandma is also 91 (maybe 92?) and she does a lot of things for herself and lives alone. I hope I get her genes!

It’s crazy, isn’t it? It’s like the super generation. Probably because they didn’t eat lots of preservatives and watch TV their whole lives. Back when they were young, everything was homemade. My neighbour across the street is 91 and it’s insane that he still drives (which scares me a bit), snow blows his driveway, mows his lawn, clips hedges. It’s quite amazing.

I don’t think it’s more the preservatives, as it is the… unhealthy eating styles a lot of our younger generations have nowadays. Fast food is so easy, so cheap, so everywhere you look. My grandmother makes food at home, rarely goes out to eat, usually makes something pretty healthy and her main fault is that she has a sweet tooth and sometimes will eat a piece or two of chocolate. It’s how she was raised, how her mother did it, her grandmother, etc. Switch to the younger generation of my family – it’s BK, Mcdonalds, eating out and ordering the bacon cheeseburger or fried chicken meals, soda ALWAYS in the house and water is something you drink only if you’re forced to, vegetables is a bad word, etc. My cousins daily meal last time I visited him was literally: Breakfast – donuts and a can of MD, lunch – bag of potato chips and some cookies and a soda, snack – burger and fries from mcdonalds with another soda, dinner – a huge plate of pasta with more meat than sauce and another soda. Needless to say, nearly every one of them has some kind of health issues. And… well… pizza is considered a vegetable now. lol

Great to hear your Grandmother is doing well LPT! {{{Vibes}}} for yours also MB. Pace makers can be magic. My Grandma had one put in last year and it’s been great for her. I was surprised it’s not as invasive surgery as you would think. The device just sits under the skin.

I have customers that are in good shape, and they always eat before they come to the store. They know that they might be tempted, so they eat their meal before they shop!

It is quite funny, I hear people complain that vegetables are expensive.. when in reality, they aren’t. Chips are going up in price, and a bag of frozen vegetables is 1-2 dollars

Donuts? I haven’t touched one in 6 months! Ughh those things make me feel gross

I’ll third the acting weird. Bunjamin’s been recluse lately. He’s doesn’t thump a lot so I think him being less social is his way of saying he ain’t happy. BUT since he did lose a toenail recently, I’ve decided to get a vet appointment just to be sure it’s okay. I think it’s causing him pain because when I go to his daily check, he withdraws it every time and he has no issues with me holding the other paws.

Is anyone else a crazy night owl like me??  I guess it’s the luxuries of a student schedule (and the option of whether or not to attend lecture, haha) but for the past three weeks or so I’ve been sleeping from 5am – noon-ish (or later) every day, gaahhh…I think I got out of bed at 2pm all of this weekend.  For some reason I just feel like I’m able to work best in the early hours of the morning, and can usually get in several good hours of studying after midnight, but unfortunately this isn’t very compatible with having a normal life haha.  I keep telling myself I need to fix my sleeping schedule, and have even pulled a couple of all-nighters in an effort to reset things, but I’m just back to 5am the next day…suggestions?

Well… now that you mention it. It’s 11:14 am, and I haven’t been to bed yet. And I have to drive south to pick up some bunnies that need to go to a foster home in Portland. Busy day for no sleep

It might happen, but that doesn’t mean I can just shrug it off. I did really well on the homework, then I did well on the quiz (after I figured out what I was missing), so I was expecting to do better than I did on the test. I’m worried about getting a bad grade in this class.

Peppy – I’ve been having the same problem. I seem to get the most done later in the evening maybe between 8pm and 1am. Then I have to get things ready for bed, so it’s like 2am before I go to sleep. Then I don’t want to get up before 10 or 10:30am. Not good.

You’ve trained yourself to work better at those hours :p Set yourself a bedtime, and stick to it. Your body will switch to it, and your best hours will switch too.

I’ve just been slacking on my bedtime, and playing in a beta when I should be sleeping, thats why my schedule is messed up again I’m slowly switching it back though. I have to push my schedule forward, most people can push it back but not me. I get VERY cranky if I don’t have enough sleep.

LB, i hate it when that happens. Every time I think I did well on a test, turns out I didn’t lol. Go to your teachers office hours and talk to them about what went wrong. Calculate your grade so you know what to work on next time.

On a side note, I got mad thumps (which is unusual for Bunji) when I vacuumed all the poops up today. So I told him I said, you put up with the vacuuming for a little while longer and I’ll put new fresh hay in all your baskets (he’s got wicker baskets, litter box, boxes, etc) so he stopped. Then after I put the vacuum away and gave him fresh hay he went to each spot and taste-tested the new hay. It was so cute! (especially since he was hiding in his tunnel during all this and didn’t actually see me put the new hay in)

peppy, I am by nature a night owl and I feel horrible in the mornings, no matter how much sleep I get. I have a lot more energy/willingness to do stuff in the evening/night than mornings as well. It isn’t very fun to try to live a normal schedule when your body wants something else. I found the easiest way to get myself to go to bed earlier was to force myself to get up after only a few hours of sleep, instead of trying to stay up all night, as I always wanted to sleep in when I stayed up all night and that just ruins the entire point! lol Prepare something for yourself to boost energy in the morning, I personally can’t eat until several hours after I get up or I feel sick, so I like breakfast shakes or something like that, liquid vitamins for energy. And keep a STRICT bedtime, cause the minute I stay up late, poof I have to start all over.

Not sure. I know even the smell of food makes me queasy – I worked at subway for a bit and I always had to wake up waaay early for my shift, cause if I woke up just in time I would be miserable and sick the whole morning. lol But yes, every morning person I know who has no problems at all getting up in the morning eats breakfast right after getting up. I have trouble getting up before 10am, I prefer noon, but I force myself awake when my schedule requires it. And I have trouble getting to sleep before midnight, even if I only had 3 hours of sleep the night before, my body just does not like going to bed early. Even like the other night I got up at 6am after going to sleep at 3am, by 11pm I was still not ready for sleep even though I was tired all day, by time night came I was wide awake.

Haha yea good way of putting it Elrohwen..it’s like I’m living in my own time zone . I can wake up early occasionally if I need to, but left to my own devices, things get pretty messed up. In college at least I had to go to class regularly too, but now the lectures for all my classes are actually video-recorded and uploaded, so I “go to class” later in the day when I’m awake and ready to work…which just enables my messed up sleep schedule even more. Ever since high school I remember being able to work best in the early morning…I’m not sure how much I can change that part of things, lol. Yea I guess I rarely have a substantial breakfast either…but more because I’m kind of running out the door than anything else heh.

Frankie, I make bargains with my buns all the time too haha. I know they don’t understand, but of course it doesn’t stop me .

Elroh, I stayed in England for 6 months and I got up early in the mornings there, because 6am in England was 11am in the time zone I grew up in! Didn’t give me any problems at all and my body was perfectly fine with it. My ancestors are from the UK, so maybe it’s just my genes.

Elrohwen – I went to the math help center on campus and the people working there just looked at me blankly when I showed them the problems. They didn’t know anything about statistics. There isn’t a TA, a lot of grad-only classes don’t have TA’s. I did go to the professor’s office before the test to ask him some things, but he just showed me where to find the answers. I was doing just fine on the homework and quiz, so I thought I would be fine for the test. I even took the practice test 10+ times. I’m just going to have to accept that a good grade in this class may not be possible. My committee told me to take this class, I hate to have it pull my GPA down (we have to maintain a min GPA).

Elroh, I grew up in Florida, so Eastern. I meant the reverse though, ha, what I get for playing a game and not paying attention to what I am typing. 6am in Florida is 11am in England and I was used to going to still being awake at 6am… I went to bed at about noon when I was at home, since I was homeschooled. Going to bed was trickier, but since you walk everywhere there, I just walked to get tired. Came back two pants sizes smaller! lol So waking up early there wasn’t a huge deal, cause I was waking up at like 2-6am when my body says “be awake” anyway. And when evening came, when I would go to sleep, everything was winding down cause it was like 5pm not noon and then I was able to just put a movie on or something, so much easier to deal with being sleepy if you aren’t expected to be doing chores, math tests or work. There was _some_ adjustment period, but it was only a week or so, where I didn’t really sleep much at all (stayed awake late, then woke up early).

So yeah, been playing SWTOR a lot lately… hit 50 so killing lots of Jedi. If you notice, my postings have all been full of errors lately. I blame the Emperor and his sway on me to bring me to the dark side. Yes, I am a geek.

I can imagine Korea would not be fun to visit for your sleep. Such a big difference!

So, Powder decided to jump on the bed, then jump into this tiny space behind the baby gate I use to protect the wires for my nook / blanket. Brat. I had to cover them better. lol

The coolest thing happened last night!!!! We found a 50 inch hdtv sitting on top of the neighboring apartment’s dumpster. We couldn’t pass it up. IT WORKS!!! PERFECTLY!! It’s a DLP so it is a little slow to warm up but I can’t complain. It was free!

Yeah the new star wars online game – it’s really cool – if you’ve ever seen / played any bioware games (dragon age, baldurs gate, NWN) you know how much they put into voice acting / cut scenes… it’s the same with their MMO. Every single quest is completely voice acted for pick up/turn in. So it’s like playing a movie, where you get to pick the outcome for a lot of things – do you free the slaves out of kindness, make them pay you to save them, or kill them all? And each class has a totally different story, so you get to see the movie 8 times, getting more of the over all story from each class you play.

Wow, nice find! 50″ TV and it was just thrown out? So weird! Though, I do know someone in NJ who sits things on the curb that are perfectly good out of kindness for the neighbors… she doesn’t know anyone specifically who wants it, so she puts it outside and keeps an eye out in case of bad weather, then first come first serve gets something cool. She could sell it, but she prefers to give it away in a “fair” fashion.

And Elroh, I wish I grew up in some cool weird place like Australia (ok, not weird, but cool!) … people in Aus keep posting pictures on my bird forum of entire FLOCKS of wild cockatoos on their balconies. I am SO jealous.

Powder was sleeping in the bathroom and I got to sneak some pictures. No flash and we have a yellow shower curtain over the window that for some reason the person who designed the bathroom put right in the MIDDLE of the shower at waist to head height (um, why? did they like people watching them shower?) so it’s a bit yellow from the sun going through that curtain. But he was just so cute I couldn’t wake him up by using the flash. Excuse the hay bits on the floor (the little dark spots)

I grew up in Florida, so heat is familiar to me – I don’t like needles though and I have been told the shots you have to take to go to Aus and Africa are pretty painful… but I would love to go to both one day.

Ha, yeah, some days work is just like “is it over yet? can I go home now? how bout now?” … makes the days so long.

I’ve been doing Yoga at home for about a week now and I still can’t get through the whole program in one sitting – yikes it makes my muscles more sore than walking five miles ever did! But good thing, means it is working.

It’s good that it is PC only! The cross platform MMOs always tank the makers don’t like to make two different UIs and PC players don’t want to play in console restrictions, cause then you are stuck with DCUOs 6 powers because it has to be playable on a controller. Yay for hubby getting game informer subscriptions!

Sooo, I have been saving up for a car, I live out in the sticks and there are no buses, no bike lanes and we’re like 40 miles from town (I don’t count a little local store and a subway as a town). And we may have the money this summer, yay. Then I can get a job again and go back to school.

No SWTOR for me. The eula from EA is kind of scary, I don’t want them knowing everything I put on and take off of my computer, thanks.

They don’t know everything – they scan your computer for hacking / cheating software, or say they can. The amount of cheaters on it proves they don’t really put that much effort into it though. Most games have changed their EULA to extend their rights to your data thanks to congress saying they can. All MMOs scan your PC for third party software that is against their rules, WoW used to scan users hard disks completely, though they have since changed that to just the portion that contains their software. The only way you sign a EULA saying they can note all software/hardware you install is if you install ORIGIN, EAs steam-like service. Which is only an issue at the moment if you want to play BF3 on your computer, as it requires origin.

I still don’t like EA And they eula does say they can monitor everything you install, uninstall, etc while you have their software installed. Thats far too much they can possibly look at legally in my opinion. So, not for me.

Besides, not a Star Wars fan anyway. And from what i have heard from guild members in Rift say, the game isn’t that great. So I’ll stick to Rift, and my Tera beta

I don’t have much experience with PC gaming, or MMOs for that matter. But I can imagine that making them cross platform would come at a price. I’ve never had a PC that was adequate to play on. So I stick to my PS3, hasn’t let us down yet. I’m excited for Darksiders 2, even though I will probably wait til after Christmas to get it. Also hoping for The Last Guardian to come out during the holidays, but I don’t know if that’s really gonna happen…

*Shrug* Every MMO has it in their privacy policies that they can access a lot of your log files, system files, RAM, CPU, etc. And honestly, if you’re accessing that much of my PC, you kind of have a lot of access. Not to mention, they all blatantly use tracking cookies. Sony stores your personal information (including CC numbers and bank account info) on less secure servers, without even so much as encrypting the data (my bank issued new CCs to all Sony customers thanks to that). And they ALL share your personal information with third parties. Gamestop can give your CC # to a third party site by checking the wrong box. I have found peoples phone #s and home addresses from simply knowing their pets names and their first name and spending an hour on google. Google stores all the searches you do. Facebook stores every single thing you do period. If privacy policies turned me off from a service, I don’t think I would even use the internet. Especially as new rules come into play, such as ACTA. I typically use fake information when I can, because of how much every company shares of your personal data.

But, as for if it is a good game or not, it depends on the persons personal taste. I like Bioware games – Baldurs Gate, NWN, Dragon Age 1 & 2. I love their stories, game play sometimes can be a little lacking in their games, like in DA2. On a whole, they make excellent games though, if you are into the story/RP sense of it. I played RIFT and it was kind of cool, but I quickly grew bored of massing at the Rifts. To each their own.

So, we went shopping today and for once bought stuff for ourselves not the buns – bf got himself a PS3 (he’s been wanting one a while ) and I got a tablet. I went to set up the PS3 and gave him my tablet with angry birds loaded to keep him busy (he never played it before) while I did it and now he’s been playing angry birds for like 20m and won’t give me my tablet back. lol

I ended up going with the kindle – it was cheaper, same thing as the nook basically and Amazon pulled the products I had an ethical problem with due to being bombarded on their website, email, facebook, twitter and via petitions. Boyfriend finally gave me it back after about an hour hehe then he found out the PS3 had to install 2 hours of updates before it would even load a game. Could’ve been updating the whole time he was playing, silly boy. He’s getting my nook e-reader now that I have a tablet too.

Powder got all excited when we brought the bags back, but there was nothing for him 😮 he didn’t come to bed for 4 hours sulking. Poor bunny!

I just got some amazing beads in the mail, they are the most spectacular blue color I have ever seen. When I saw them online, the first thought that came to mind was “Caribbean waterfall” as they are tear drop shaped. Going to make some awesome jewelry with these!

Something happened today at my work.

This lady came through my line with rabbit food. I do not know why my store sells rabbit food with crap in it, but the store does. She had the crappy rabbit food and.. er, the crazy rabbit lady in me came out. She was totally shocked! She thought it was good for the rabbit to have ‘variety.’ I said the plain pellets are a lot better, and recommended that she go to the petstore and buy a bag of Oxbow Timothy pellets and slowly mix it in with the old variety.

She handed me the bag of crap rabbit food to put back. She didn’t buy it :p

So I gave her the HRS website to learn more about rabbits. she didn’t look too offended hahah.

Gahh, Chacha, don’t remind me about girl scout cookies! I’ve managed to avoid them so far this year, but only because I haven’t run into any girl scouts. If I did, it would be all over…

Frankie – hmm I have no idea what I want to do. Currently kind of interested in emergency med and not so interested in primary care/family practice…but we’ll see. But then again I haven’t ruled out the “whatever program will take me” methodology for choosing a field either, haha.

Elrohwen: Colds suck! It’s like just enough to make you miserable (especially the kind where your head constantly stings and you can’t sneeze) but not enough to make it okay in other people’s eyes to stay home. Bleh. I usually end up staying home if it gets really bad. 

I really need lots and lots of healing vibes from you guys for Foudini. We thought he had an absess but now the vet thinks that it’s a pulled tendon. They put a cast on him and he can’t be turned out right now and I feel like it’s absolute torture to keep a horse in stall for the majority of the day. The vet said he doesn’t know for sure that he’ll recover  (meaning he’ll heal but not fully enough to be okay to ride and worst case scenario not enough to have a good quality life). But I must believe that he’ll heal fully, the vet thinks that he can. 

I dont feel like working!!!!!! ME ME ME!!! Let me stay home!!!!
I am sorry you aren’t feeling well Elrohwen, hope it passes quickly.
I went to my overnight job last night, then I “accidentally” slept through class. Now I have a 4 hour shift at my day job to get to. I just want this day to be over so I can sleep for more than 3 hrs.

I do not adjust well at all, I go a little more crazy every week haha

My job is all different types of shifts. Like yesterday, I worked 9:45 am to 6:30 pm. Today, I started at 10:15 am, and got off at 3 pm My work shift will bet a set schedule when I register for school. basically, a schedule change of availability I look forward to it to be honest..

It is a gorgeous day here in washington! I bought seeds to plant: italian parsley, lettuce, and arugula.. well, you know who is going to be eating those once it grows I bought some plant picks to label what is growing in each pot. I can’t find a sharpie! GRRRRRRRRRRR!! When I need one, I CAN’T find it! But when I”m not even looking, that is when i Find it!

One of my customers was talking to me today about how life was different when he was growing up. He said when one of his parents was asked to work overtime, they declined it. Family was extremely important, family was present at all dinners, etc. Stress has taken over us and such.

Time for a late lunch/dinner. I didn’t get a lunch break at work, due to the shortness of my shift!!!

Vibes for Foudini! I know how you feel. When Winnie had laminitis she was in the barn for like 2 weeks. And, even if you know it’s for their own good, you feel horrible. Winnie hates being in the barn. I get so mad at show barns where the horses never get turned out. That’s animal cruelty.

Snow day here today. Looks like I’ll be stuck home cleaning and crafting (and BBing!) I’m glad it’s snowing though, I’m planning a snowshoeing trip with some friends.

Neat, is that just like taking a hike – except with snowshoes and show? We don’t get nearly enough snow around here (though none this year, strangely) so I have no idea, haha.

I was pretty sure I was going to get a B in histology after the first exam (two total, each comprising half the final grade), so I kind of blew off the opportunity to contest my lab practical grade on Friday. However, I did a lot better than I expected and it turns out that I’m one practical question (or two multiple choice questions) away from having a B+ instead of a B. There’s one lab practical question in particular that’s kind of been nagging at me, arghhh I should have said something!! Should I be shameless and try to push for it 5 days later? Don’t know how successful it would be, since it was just a list of structures to identify, and it’d come down to a he-said-she-said kind of thing, but I feel like I’d feel better if I at least tried than if I didn’t. Ahhhh regret..

Chacha loves being my personal alarm clock. The past 2 days, she has waken me up before my alarm went off! She was very cute about it! She licks my arm, and I open my eyes. She sees that I open my eyes, and jumps onto my chest, and organizes my blanket for me

I am trying to contact my Great Aunt in Hawaii. She has some family history that I want to read about. I am trying to get her phone number from my cousins in Hawaii, but that is proving difficult to get =/

Healing vibes for Foudini! How sad that he has to stay cooped up, but I bet it will be worth it and he’ll  make a full recovery

Hubby surprised me with a new camera yesterday! It’s a Canon S100, I’m superexcited! But this morning I sadly figured out that it makes an annoying clicking sound while recording video. I thought it was the Autofocus and tried it with the AF turned off, but the noise is still there… So I guess we will have to send it back. Argh!

LoveChaCha: I wish my cat would be as sweet about waking me up! When she decides it’s time for me to get up and feed her, she just parks her butt on my face. I think that’s a party foul…

So, Powder thinks one corner of the bedroom is a litter box. No matter if I put a litter box there or not, he wants to mark the carpet, so I have it blocked off. He figured out how to get to it by climbing over the bed though, so I started sleeping on that side of the bed so he won’t jump down (he won’t jump from on top of me). Well, last night he was INSISTENT on getting on that part of the floor, so he spent 3 hours trying to get me to move, then when I didn’t, he peed on my arm! UGH. 4am I had to get up and clean up pee off myself and the bed, the brat. Going to block that side of the bed off better and if he pees on me again he is so losing bed privileges. lol

Peppy – Was the item you were labeling hand drawn? LOL, I would always have trouble with that when I took Histology. The professor would hand draw something and then photocopy it. So a lot of the time, I would be looking at the quiz or test and trying to figure out what the heck the line was supposed to be pointing to.

I know, he’s only done that once before and that was when I was messing with his litter box and he wanted to use it. lol Of course after I left the bed he flopped out long ways by where my pillow goes *sigh* He thinks he owns the bed.

Seems like something is going around in my area too, but I’ve been pretty lucky so far this year not getting sick *crosses fingers*. Feel better Elrohwen!

LBJ, we each have a microscope and a set of a couple hundred slides, and the questions are something like “Slide #215, parietal cell, 40x”. When we find it (or not haha) we call over a TA to check. And while we wait for the TA, there’s normal MC questions to work on too..kind of a strange exam lol.

Peppy, ah I see. We didn’t have to do that. Usually, we would have microscopes set up for the practical. We would start at one, look at what was there and then answer a question about it. We would have a minute and then we would have to switch to the next microscope in line.

I got home from work not so long ago, and checked the mail

My letter from the community college came.. my Financial Aid Award Letter! Looks like my entire tuition for 2 quarters will be covered (I have to do the 2012-2013 FAFSA on Thursday or Friday this week, my days off) and I have to pay for books and fees. It is a big relief… people are going through hard times, and want to go to school to better themselves, and don’t have much money to.

I’m sleepy!

Haha Elrohwen, I was absolutely terrible at chem labs. But then, having orgo labs at 8am probably didn’t help my appreciation for the class…

I kind of need to vet a little about school stuff, sorry this might be long. 

 Over break we were assigned an essay in which we have to describe how Hamlet should die onstage by dissecting each line of the last scene, describing staging issues and how the actor should portray it, and supporting a certain reading of the play. I was given the Nietzsche-ian reading. My teacher made me write a rough thesis that basically says “Hamlet realizes that he and all humans create meaning where there is none.” Makes my head hurt just thinking about how I’m going to prove this through the scene of his death. At the beginning of break I designated this day to be my homework day (last day before break). HUGE MISTAKE. I have been upset and also have been seriously procrastinating all day.

Truth is this essay really scares me…I’m afraid I just won’t be able to do it or understand it (because it seems really difficult). I really hate this bad quality I have, I literally always put off things that I don’t want to do to the last minute even though I know I have to do it sometime, pushing it back farther doesn’t make it any easier or go away. When the stuff is related to school work it’s mostly out of fear that I’ll just fail on something or won’t do it right.  Sometimes I compare my sister’s school to my own (she’s in public, I’m in a IB college prep) and just think “why did I chose this path?”. Does anyone else understand or feel like this?

Ugh…Hamlet. I loved English Literature class but I hated Hamlet. Very overrated IMO!  I know Romeo and Juliet almost by heart and I’ve read MacBeth several times but Hamlet and I just didn’t click.

I’ll never forget this one essay we had to do which was largely an opinion piece on whether we thought Hamlet was truly crazy and my teacher gave me a really bad mark because he disagreed with my opion. How can MY opinion be wrong? I argued with him till he bumped my grade up.

Bunnyfriend, I feel your pain. It is not a good habit to have but I cant tell you how to break it because in what feels like my 80th yr in college, I still do it. Take for example, the intaglio prints I have due for printmaking. I have had three weeks to do them. I have to have a minimum of 3 states of printing (reworking them) before they can be considered done. I have 1 and half. They were due today, the teacher pushed the date back because no one was ready. So, rather than spending last night working on them, despite some extra time that popped up, I slept. I have a whole weekend to worry about them 😉 except the reality is that I don’t because I will be out of town, but I still don’t have to worry about them right now!!!
Good luck with the essay. Keep in mind that using strong words will help, avoid things like “I think that…” instead, just say “….” The “I think” part is redundant since it is your paper and therefore clearly your opinions. It helps add strength to an argument. Try to not think about how much you dont want to do it. If it is possible, set aside two hours to work on it per day. You might find that you will take that small chunk of time as less stressful to wrestle than the whole paper all at once. You also might find that you get on a role and go over the time you expected to stop and actually finish it.

My boss at my super awesome job on campus put in her two weeks notice. A fellow employee has already been told to start seeking other employment. I am worried that I might be losing my job. However, more than worried, I am hopeful that they find no one to replace her for the summer and call on us, the student staff, to run the Resource Library during the summer, which would provide me the ability to have a full time job over the summer and I could quit the night job I am not so fond of.

Sigh… i need to drive 20+ hours north to Edmonton soon, my grandmother is up there int he hospital. She was supposed to have a surgery done, but the doctors cancelled it, because my grandma won’t make it through it. My sister is hoping to get her to move in with her when she is released, so she can take care of my grandma. But, she says that my grandma likely won’t be able to live long with the pain she is in.

So, emergency trip time. Trying to see if we can get my hubby’s passport so he can come up too. A 20 hour drive alone would suck. The drive back would suck even more, leaving in those circumstances.

MB, sorry your grandmother isn’t doing so well, hope you can get your hubbys passport squared away so he can join you.

MB, I am sorry to hear about your grandma, I hope everything works out well with the passport and you can have your hubbie’s support. Vibes to your whole family!

We had a snow day today, YIPEE! I have yet to shovel the drive, but atleast im off school. We got 8-10 inches here in Minnesota. I plan to go spend some time with the bunnies later today. Really sorry to hear about Foudini, bunny friend. Congrats on Primrose, she is beautiful! I own a 26 yo Saddlebred mare and have been riding since I was seven. Hope all of you fellow friends in the Midwest got the nice same snow!
