So, I got a letter yesterday from my apartment complex saying they’d have some maintenence guys in my apartment today to do some work on my window.  I thought, ok, no biggie, no big deal.

Well, they got here at 10am this morning, and told me they wouldn’t be done til 4pm.  Also, they were removing the entire window from the wall (it’s a HUGE bay window, literally takes up the entire wall, over 6 feet across), and that there’d be dust and lots of noise and paint fumes etc, am I sure I wanted to hang out while they did this?  Ack, I didn’t know they were doing all that!  So I was basically left scrambling, because Zeus’s cage is not even 3 yards from the window, and I was basically getting “kicked  out” of my apartment for the day.

I had to make due the best I could, so I set Zeus up in the bathroom.  Litterbox, water, toys, pellets and greens.  Turned the vent fan on, put a little fan on the sink to circulate air as best as I could to keep it cool in there (83F today).  I definitely couldn’t leave him in the living room, way too loud and scary and dusty. I told the maintenence guys to NOT go into the bathroom, and also asked the office to tell anyone going in my apartment today to not open the bathroom door.  They probably thought I was crazy when I explained there was a giant rabbit in there who does NOT take kindly to being picked up and if they let him out, they’d be hard pressed to get him back in there.

When I got home, bless his little bunny heart, he was just chillin in the bathroom, eating his pellets like that was his normal every day routine.  He’s always been a very adaptable bunny, and I’m so glad for it!  He’s no worse for the wear.  I was so worried leaving him in the bathroom all day, but I didn’t have much other choice!

          Awwww that went well!!!
I moved into an apartment a few years ago and when moving in they said they took rabbits. Once I got in they said they didn’t. After legal counsel (and throwing several fits to Dave lol) we were told we could either challenge them (possibly get money but have to move) or just keep it quiet and go after if needed. So that’s what we opted for. So when we had to have them in for work I had to disguise my gigantic bunny condo that was in this huge storage closet…I wonder if I have pics-I disguised it as a storage closet by draping sheets and piling junk in front…. I posted pics at one point and Pam doctored them up really funny…

You know, there’s times when I look at my mortgage payment and think, ‘Home ownership is highly overrated…’ This is not one of those times. At least I have some say in when and where home improvements get done and always at the deferrment of the bunnies.
Poor Zeus and poor you! I could NOT have let strangers be alone with my pets like that. I’d have either packed them all into the car for a day out or been breathing down the handymens’ necks all day! 0_o

When something in the apartment needs fixing, my dad leaves a maintenance message and tells the people specifically “To close the door immediately, as there is a rabbit running around the apartment.”
