Well I ran out of hay today so I went to go get another bale from the hay people, this time I got second cutting, it looked even better than the third cutting (the kind I got last time) I still have a bit of the other hay so I have not given them any of the new hay.
Well while we were there they asked us if we would try out some of their mini bales of hay, (they are compressed mini bales with a bit of oil added for nutrition-I did not understand how oil was nutritional) But anyway, they gave us a free mini bale, The hay inside looked kinda weird, but I thought it was probably fine. Me having much diffucuty getting the hay out of the bag, (It was super compressed) I ended up ripping the bag and cutting the ties on the hay. Bunnies loved it of coarse, but I was watching thistle eating the hay directly from the mini bale and I saw these mini worm things
I took it away immediatey but I was a little freaked out. Do you think that the worms were there due to the hay having oil in it? Do you think I should trust the normal bales anymore? The big bales seem fine. Also the mini bales were stored in a brown bag with a kind of plastic coating on the inside, do you think the non airing of the hay could have caused it? well anyway YUK!
Also most importantly, when I go back there they are going to ask my opinion of the mini bale, the bunnies did like it but it was wormified!!! THey are really nice people, how should I break it to them that their product they were selling was worm infested, maybe I just got a bad bag but still! They were even selling it in a loris store, I would feel so bad… How do you think I should break it to them and why do you think that bale had worms in it and do you think I should still trust the bigger bales?
