Hi I’m a very new owner to my first bunny ever and she’s a six week old Lionhead named bear. She hasn’t quite started to grow her mane yet but I’m worried for the future I live in the fifth floor of my apartment complex in Hawaii and air conditioning is not very common in households and portable ones can be pricey for me so I’m worried my bunny might get too hot when she starts growing out her mane it can get to mid 80s during the day year round and I make sure I have a fan full blast towards her cage while I’m at work. But is that enough?

Tiles would be great – your bunny will be able to stay nice and cool if you put a tile or two on the floor for her to lay on. Frozen water bottles are good too – she can lay up against them to stay cool. But make sure she’s not a chewer first! Ice cubes in her water bowl would be great too.

Ooh make sure that she has enough space that she can move out of the way of the fan air flow if she wants too.

          She should be fine

You could always give your lion a trim (not shave, just shorten the mane with round-ripped children’s scissors and another person helping. Not sure if your bun is a full lionhead, in which case you can do the skirt as well. But to be honest, the long hair won’t make a huge difference in temps if you offer tiles and frozen bottles wrapped in a washcloth etc.
