Our long eared masters rule the roost, what have you done to your own detriment to make their lives better ?

For me the one that stood out today is the fact that the family sized fridge/freezer in the kitchen is so full of salad greens for the rabbits and ice packs to keep them cool that my food and drink has been relegated to the tiny battered second hand bar fridge/freezer in the sun room.

Hay in the living-room. Living-room full of cardboard boxes and other types of platforms and houses and two litter-boxes. More hay in the living-room. Rabbits are messy. It doesn’t bother me, it just surprises me a bit. He’s so small and so very non-unnoticeable.

When my boyfriend and I are focused on whatever we’re doing on our computers (a video game most likely), and when we hear Java coming down the ramp in his enclosure, we immediately get up and sit in front of his pen, ready to serve him.

            No matter how late I went to bed, no matter how tired I am (unless I’m sick, then it’s my boyfriend), I force myself to get up around 5-7 am (whenever I happen to wake up) to feed Java breakfast. I have to be completely knocked out to not wake up, and I’ll usually wake up to an impatient stomp anyway. Also, like most, our fridge crispers are STUFFED with only bunny salad veggies. Our veggies get an above shelf, while the crispers are overflowing with his goodies. ;-;

Every Tuesday, we go to the Farmer’s Market for Java. Sure, we get some good stuff for ourselves, but it’s really for him. I’ve even left work early so I wouldn’t miss the market. We spend more on his veggies than on food for both of us every week … hah.

We pet him, or at least pat his head anytime we pass by his enclosure. I could go on and on ….

-Put a litter box in my room
-Allowed her into my room 24/7
-You won’t move into an apartment less they accept rabbits
-You ask customers for their carrot tops because most of the time, they throw away the tops anyway.
-You’ll spend your last few dollars on vegetables for bunny

Half of the groceries I get is lettuce. And since I have bad eating habits, the food for me is all junk food. lol I also spend more on her lettuce than anything for myself. I also placed a blanket over her hidey box in her pen which is the best. thing. ever. When I made a hidey box for her out by the pool table, she popped her head back out as if “hey. you. where’s my blanket?” I miraculous didn’t give in but only because we don’t have extra blankets for that. LOL

Errr….she also gets treats pretty much whenever because I have no self control and she knows it.

                      Love your stories

I am the same. Buddy owns my whole flat and he can go into any room when me or my partner are at home, my living room is full of his toys and hay (we hoover a lot more often than we used to but we don’t mind), most of my fridge is filled with his veges and one of the kitchen cupboards with bags of his hay. Also I start work pretty early at 5 am and before I got Buddy I would get up at around 4, now I get up at 2:30 every morning so he can have a run around before I leave. I love that little bun

Half the time we walk to the store through the snow is to get veggies for Bosse, not because us hoomins actually need anything.
Whenever we go to ikea we end up buying a ton of stuff to accommodate bunny living, and always forget to get things we really need, like curtains. We still use bed sheets in the living room windows after living here since August.
Have spent WAY more money on the bunbun than on myself.

Half the blankets in the house are devoted to the bunnies
The entire bottom shelf of the fridge is nothing but veggies for the buns
You won’t finish off the carrots or broccoli yourself because bunny will be without
You choose when to go shopping based off when has the best fresh bunny produce
Your room is a maze of baby gates and blockades because bunny has bad habits, but you don’t want to restrict them from their run area so you restrict yourself instead (my computer desk/chair is now caged and the bunnies have the larger area of the room)

You know you have a problem when your bun flops (I mean full out flops) right in front of you when you’re attempting to vacuum. Then you just vacuum around him and leave that spot dirty.

You also know you have a problem when you find yourself looking at all sorts of strange things at the store and thinking “I wonder if the buns would like that”.

I get excited when my husband brings me roses….because I get to give my buns a little treat :/
We got rid of our dinning room table so Sally can have a larger enclosure. And now we are thinking of turning the guest bedroom into a bunny room lol.

Bandit makes a better alarm clock than my actual alarm clock. “THUMP! Hey, I know you get up at 7:30 most of the time for work, why aren’t you up now? THUMP! I need my pellets and bok choi, stat! THUMP! HEY!!”

Like others, two shelves in my horribly tiny fridge my landlord gave me are devoted to her salad greens. And she knows they are there. Doesn’t matter if I’ve just fed her, she’ll sit in front of it and wait.

Not to mention the odd looks from coworkers when I ask them to please save me as many cardboard boxes as they can.

When practically the only thing that is mine in my room anymore….I mean Mimzy’s room…is my bed. Everything else is Mimzy’s.
I’m considering getting her her own fridge because her veggies are beginning to take up a lot of space in the household fridge. I also have a freezer full of frozen water bottles to keep her cool.
I get cold easily but would rather have to bundle up so Mimzy could be comfortable and cool. (I have a thermometer hanging on my wall now)

When you go to a store for yourself but come back with something for your bunny instead.
You have to warn people ahead of time you are a little bunny crazy…

I’ve also noticed that anything I rearrange in my room or add to my room, has to be done with Mimzy in mind.

I also get excited about cardboard boxes, when my dad brings home fruit, and also half the blankets and towels in the house are Mimzy’s. Everytime I go somewhere, I am always thinking of Mimzy.
If I am “broke” it means I only have money to buy things for Mimzy.

Another one: When you wake up in the middle of the night from the sound of little rabbit-paws on the floor, and you get up and fix him a little snack so he won’t have to make do with just hay and apple-twigs.

When it’s high Summer and the temps are exceeding 110F/40C and the only cooling appliances in the house are in the bunny habitats whilst you swelter in the rest of the living areas.

Yes! This^! Totally and completely! I hate being cold but I keep the house at 74degrees to keep the babies happy. And over half of our fridge is filled with bunny veggies.

                                             Okay so now mine:

                                            • You spend more money on bunny groceries then on the regular human groceries.
                                            • You would rather stay at home chilling with the buns then go out and party.
                                            • You read aloud to the buns the book that you are currently reading.
                                            • You make sure that every bun has their own stuffed companion so that they are not lonely.

When you spend your Birthday and Christmas money on stuff for the buns not yourself.
They always have fresh food and water while you don’t have time to do that for yourself.
The fridge full of veggies times a million.
You move all your stuff in your room and work space to appease them. Don’t dare let furniture touch the wall (Bunjamin likes to be able to run along walls in case he needs to make a quick escape -_-)
Spend hours cleaning up “accidents” and still giggle when they do that little binky afterwards.

…. when you decide that it’s less stressful to spend your vacation at home than go somewhere and worry about your bunnies the whole time.
…. when you leave a gathering early because the bunnies need their evening veggies.

                                                    @ bullrider – Haha!
Made me think of my mornings:
                                                    1. Wake up
                                                    2. Feed bunnies, change their water, refresh hay (their room is right across from ours)
                                                    3. Turn on coffee grinder.
                                                    4. Let out dogs.
                                                    5. Feed cats
                                                    6. Put water and ground coffee in coffee maker.
                                                    7. Refresh water for dogs and cats.
                                                    8. Bring in and feed dogs.
                                                    9. Wait for coffee to brew and contemplate how life came to this XD

You know you’re bunny whipped when you nodded and smiled knowingly as you read everyone’s posts.

When you don’t remember the last time you bought clothes for yourself but you buy something for their habitats every other week.

When the thought of going away for more then a day gives you heart palpitations.

When you jump at any noise coming from the bunny’s enclosures…only to find out that someone woke up grumpy and a nose is now wiggling in your direction for a treat since you must be the reason they woke up. Shame on you.
My bunnies have their own ‘bar fridge’ for their meds and such…no room for the veg they go in our fridge. As do the freeze bottles. We barely have room for our own food.
You’ll drive all over town, 5 miles uphill in the snow both ways to get your buns what they need day to day. Then be too tired to go back because you forgot something you need for your own dinner.
I thought anybody who lived with rabbits didn’t eat before they did. Standard practice here…for all our pets.

Short of hand feeding them and standing over them with a big fan of ostrich feathers and plates of craisins I don’t know what more I can do but you guys have listed just about all I have done…lol.
And cats think being worshiped as gods in Egypt was big…they probably wish they could be reincarnated as bunnies!

“Didn’t eat before they did”. This reminded me of what happened today. I bought Chik-fil-a and some veggies for the buns and when I got home I immediately started making them their salads before eating my Chik-fil-a. By the time I was done with them My sandwich was only Luke warm :p

                                                              * Bun veggies take up half the fridge
                                                              * Decided to stay home this year instead of vacationing since finding someone to bunsit 5 buns is near impossible
                                                              * Bun has more vet visits a year than I do human visits
                                                              * Bun habitats went from cages, to condos, to taking over the dining room
                                                              * Buns drink filtered water
                                                              * I am the one eating the leftover veggies in the fridge instead of the buns eating mine
                                                              * More bunnies in the house than humans because they always need more friends (who cares how much room hooman has in the house)
                                                              * Buns have their own closet full of bun materials, hay, and CareFresh
                                                              * Buns have their own cabinet in the house also

I realize I stole a lot of others.. but as Jerseygirl said – I nodded along to almost every post as I went down them.

BullRider – that is SOOO true! I’m not sure if you guys remember how I was horrified because the bunnies would destroy their condo EVERY darn morning in between the time I woke up and walked out of the bedroom til the time I had my coffee made because I didn’t let them out fast enough!

Crazy, crazy room mates we all live with.
