I don’t know if you guys remember, but I posted somewhere that I was going on a holiday for over a month and leaving our bunnies with my mother. Or actually, my mom came to my house and stayed here the whole time (she’s retired, so she was happy to have some “excitement” in her life, haha). Anyway, mom took really good care of the bunnies only with the exception that she was not able to brush them or clip their nails. I groomed the buns just before we left and cut their nails etc.

When I came home I couldn’t help but just pick up the little sweet things and hug and kiss and pet them! They were a bit afraid, but I just had to smell their fur and feel their little nose bumps and nice breath. Now I just finished cleaning their cage and replacing everything… took a very long time. Also, I clipped their nails, and I noticed one of the buns had her nail broken off! It must have happened sometime earlier, as there was a small beginning of a new nail, but still I felt awful. When I brushed them, I could just run the comb through and get a big bunch of fur out, and I groomed them already twice and there seems to be lots more to brush off. As the bunnies are a mix with lionhead genes, they are really furry. I usually keep their tummy fur short, so they can clean their butts easier. Well, I had to literally cut the fur like hair! I couldn’t even find their private parts until after some serious trimming! Of course, the fur had gotten pretty dirty with urine, it was wet from some areas and dried and matted at some other. I had to wash their butts with water, but actually I think they felt better afterwards judging from the way they attacked their treats and flopped

I’m so happy to take care of the bunnies it’s crazy How can a person miss such small little creatures so much!

Wow a whole month? How’d you do it? Lol
You’re braver then me. I don’t think I could separate myself that long. ::

I wonder if your bunnies will start giving you the bunny butt soon?… :p

I was gone for a whole flipping month too and I was worried! I tried to not let myself think about it and trust the caretaker but I was anxious to get back to my babies. I was more worried they wouldn’t remember me lol but they did and we started where we left off no bunny butts or anything :p welcome home! I hope you enjoyed your trip!

It was a nice trip, so in that view… worth it

jerseygirl: I was having some “separation anxiety”, haha, but my mom took care of the buns and she had the vet number etc, so… Anyway, no bunny butts, more like “yikes, the human is coming, let’s hide! oh no, let’s run back, she has some yummy nommies for us!” And afterwards, some flops.

NewBunnyOwner123:I had the same worries although everything was fine and I knew it. I mean I have two daughters, and by no means am I comparing children and pets, but the resembling worry between leaving your kids and leaving your pets… I feel like I’m a bit nuts, haha
