Toby’s 36inch play pen is currently in our basement with laminate flooring. I want to bring the play pen up to my room where there is carpet so that he can binky and run without slipping. The only thing is that my parents don’t want pee or hay to get on the carpet. What do you think I should put on the floor as a base? It has to be something affordable cause I have to pay for it myself. If you guys recommend me something like puzzle mats, what should I place on top? Is fleece fine? Toby does shed a lot so I don’t want his hair sticking to the sheets or fleece.

I would buy a fleece blanket, put that on top of the carpet and then use the x-pen to hold it in place. Saves the carpet and cleanup should be easy.

            Great advice above!

You could also get one of those waterproof picnic mats (I got mine off eBay) which have a fabric side & a plastic waterproof underside – designed for families sitting on the grass etc

I use puzzle mats but don’t put anything on top. The material used to make those could vary though – some are spongy (will absorb water) and others like mine are water resistant. I just give it a wipe if there’s any pee. The only risk about these is that sometimes the part where it interlocks may not fit 100%, which leaves some space for pee to potentially get through.

My house is tiled so I don’t have to worry about that, but you could put a blanket underneath the mats to absorb any escaping pee before it reaches the carpet. Also the edges of the mats should be out of the X-pen to lessen chances of chewing as bunnies usually go for the edges/corners.
