That’s almost exactly what I have but that’s a way better price! I have a linoleum remnant that I got at a home improvement store that I have under my cage and xpen to protect my hardwood floors. Then I have a sheet over that. Clean up is easy.

i think linoleum is the generally accepted under xpen material.  you’d have to make sure to have either some mats down or a sheet like knowltons said for traction.  once she’s older, altered and pottytrained, you might be able to swap that out for a remnant of carpet (as long as she doesn’t ingest the fibers).  you want to make sure that the edges of whatever you use is outside the perimeter of the pen to prevent her from chewing on it.

I like chair mats – like the kind from costco or an office store to protect floors.  Even once she’s litter trained, bottles can leak and it’s still a good idea to protect the floor.

Over top of the mat we used pee-pee pads (they’re the plastic backed hospital pads, which can easily be tossed in the washer.  We also sometimes used inexpensive fleece blankies when we got behind on laundry.

              here’s what they look like

wow those pads look amazing! does your bun chew or dig on them though? I would be worried if they could dig through to the plastic backing.
