My husband and I have had wild bunnies in our yard ever since we moved here. One neighbor has a small yippy dog that rarely comes outside and the other neighbor has no pets. For years we would have wild rabbits that would live in a burrow under our shed (they started construction as soon as my husband finished making it lol) and then play between our house and the burrow they made under the neighbors deck.
Besides my stalking of the wild rabbits, they are never bothered by anyone or anything. We don’t treat our yard and neither does the neighbors. My husband named all the rabbits “george” after the one from the bugs bunny cartoon. So when we see one we will stand there and talk to them (yeah i know, but it makes me feel better lol).
We have a friend who has several wild rabbits in his yard but has several dogs that bother the nest frequently. We have had a few friends ask if we wanted to come get wild rabbits and rehome them to our yard but my fear is even if we knew mom was done w/ them what if we are taking them away from the family group? And what if we scare them to death by moving them?
I know wild rabbits are the food source for some many other animals and I know many die because of heat, etc. Im crazy enough that I would definitely rehome wild rabbits but Im thinking it would just be a bad idea.
Thoughts?
