Worse after neutering?

it’s been awhile since I have been on binky bunny,

Loki has been fixed. He had his surgery March 17th. He was great afterwards. Seemed like he was almost calmer. But all of a sudden, he’s gotten worse. Loki has been growling. (mainly at the broom, he lunges and bites at it all the time.) I can’t take the broom out without him going after it. His new thing is him digging everything. He stopped for awhile, and all of a sudden he’s picking it back up. he will not stop digging my pillow, and any kind of cloth material on the floor. whether it’s clothes, blankets, whatever. Today I got home from working all day, I walk into the room, and usually I let him out of his cage right away. I close the door and he starts grunting in his cage. which i’ve never seen him do before. As far as the digging goes, I read to place your hand over their ears and push them down onto their backs when they do something bad, so I was when he would dig. and now he’s growling at me and walking away. He never wants me to touch him and he’s constantly being bad! what happened!? I find myself losing my patience with him because as soon as I place my hand on his ears and look away, he does it all over again!

I figured at this point, his hormones would be gone and he would be a good bun. what’s going on? how can I get my sweet bun back?

Are you sure his isn’t feeling a surge? What has it been? 3 weeks? We usually tell people to wait 4-6 weeks for hormones to settle.

Bramble was a bit of a nightmare for a good while after he was neutered. He had a bad recovery so for the first two weeks he was really calm, but that was because he was still recovering and by week three he had totally changed. He took to digging at everything and he was never a digger before that and he was quite aggressive (although aggression/frustration was why we got him neutered to be fair to him).

It did settle down after maybe 6-8 weeks and he is great now, he almost never digs and is totally non-aggressive the only thing he still does is chew his bars to try to get us to let him out about ten seconds after we enter the room (its just him saying ‘come on guys, you are up now its time to let me out’). He was never grunting or lunging mind you but I think Loki might be just adjusting to the change in hormones the way Bramble did.

Oh and Bramble still hates it when I brush/hoover/mop the floors, I have to put him in his cage to do them or he goes mad

I agree, sounds like he just needs more time for those hormones to settle.
