        Hi everyone

I have just been to give Oreo a cuddle, when i picked her up she felt wet at the back end and when i looked she had a light brown jelly mixed with a little poop coming from her back end.  I have cleaned and dried her.  Does anyone know what this is as i am worried.  She is eating and drinking as normal and she was fine earlier today.   Thanks

If your bunny is not producing any round normal poop, gel-like poop can be true diarrhea. You need to keep s close eye because true diarrhea is very dangerous for a young rabbit and your rabbits are very young. If there’s no round poop and the gel like poop doesn’t stop soon, you’ll need to see a vet. Young buns get dehydrated very rapidly.

If on the other hand you do see normal round poop as well as the sticky jelly-poop, it’s not true diarrhea and not an emergency. Then you need to feed more hay and of course still keep an eye, but no need to dash off to the vet.

              Thanks Bam for your reply

I am due at the vet tomorrow for their jabs.  when I cleaned her there was squashed poop balls stuck to her fur.  She eats plenty of meadow hay and alfalfa hay.  The only hay i have added that is different is the alfalfa hay.  They do not get any veg or treats and they are on Burgess excel Nuggets with mint for junior and dwarf rabbits.  Caramel is fine she is doing regular poops

I have checked Oreo again since i washed her and she is still dry and no jelly. My heart is sinking at the moment.

Mucus mixed with normal poops is a sign of inflammation of the GI tract. This could be caused by a number of different things. Since you’re headed off to the vet, you might want to have her tested for parasites.
