Hey guys how old do you think little Smokey is? Just got him on 13th June, the guy who sold him to me said he was about 4 or 5 weeks at that time. When we brought him back he was still really tiny. Didn’t like eating much other than carrots, and he didn’t poop much either… just flaky looking poop for 2-3 days.

        Here’s a pic of Smokey taken on 16th June…

        and  on 28th June…

Hmm don’t know much about his background as well. Pretty sure he’s a mixed breed though. Methinks he’s got some Chinchilla “ancestry” in him.    Not sure though as I don’t know much about the diff breeds… He has grown quite big since, a very extroverted bunny compared to our previous bunny Max, but much naughtier!   Loves chasing us around begging for treats haha, and it does seems like he throws tantrums by pooping outside his little box when he wants our attention! GRRR  (Smokey is already potty trained)

That’s what they said about Remy when we first picked him up. He was super tiny too.

What a cutie! More pictures, please : )

he looks about five weeks. carrots probably aren’t too healthy for him. you should try giving him a quality pellet. i am not an expert on young rabbits though.

Well when you get a new bun, the most important thing is that he eats. If you have to bribe him with carrots, it’s better than nothing at all. But once he begins to eat, cut back on them and go with the alfalfa and pellets. I would also say that he’s under 2 months old and he has a small but definite amount of Dutch in him

Wow, he looks really young in that first pic- maybe should have still been with Mom!

Since the breeder you got him from is not a reliable as they should be- it would not be a bad idea to have a vet exam and fecal check done- to make sure Smokey is healthy and you can establish a relationship with a vet that can later do the spay/neuter.

He looks thin in the first pic- so it would be best to make sure Smokey does not have any intestinal parasites- as long as they are treated before the symptoms are severe there is usually no problems- but if there are any symptoms like diah, etc the parasites can be damaging the GI system.

You will want to offer unlimited hay- and a good quality pellet for young bunnies.  Greens and veggies can slowly be introduced.  It is amazing how quickly bunnies pick up good litter box habits- but once they hit the “teenager” stage they can rebel a little and be frustrating until their hormones settle after spaying/neutering.  But house bunnies are such a delight that it really is worth every minute!  Make sure to take lots of pics- they grow fast!

                    Julie

                      Welcome to BB
He may have chinchilla colouring but the chinchilla breed rabbit is a pretty big breed. There certainly looks to be Dutch in him from markings and body form. Very sweet – I happen to love grey dutch bunnies! He does seem terribly young….you would expect to see that size(in last picture) in petstores and usually they are 8 weeks old. Hope he’s become a better eater.

In that 2nd photo he looks almost like a Fancy Mouse I once had.
