Oh I know how you feel. Huckleberry has chewed through 2 of my Macbook cords so far. They are $80 at Best Buy here. I was so angry!!!
The tv though, thats just mean Thumper!!!!

How to bunny proof tips: I have cardboard lids to file boxes wedged between the wall and the tv stand. Usually cardboard is like crack to a bunny though, so maybe some wood or those cube things everyone talks about.

I read that rabbits view cords as vines or roots which can be potential tripping hazards when they are trying to escape. Getting the cord out of your buns way may be enough to keep him from chewing it. Avoiding the problem is so much easier than trying to prevent it. Either keep the area where the cords are from being one of Thumpers tunnels or move the “vines and roots” out of his tunnel so he doesn’t feel the need to do some gardening.

I plug my laptop cord and phone charger, etc into a power strip. I put that behind a “fence” of nic grids that keep the cords out of Lolli’s way. So far it works. I also have random things blocking my tv stand like my shredder so she can’t get behind my tv. lol

Another, somewhat sci-fi reason for rabbits to chew on electrical cords is that they can sense an electomagnetic field that is generated by the electricity flowing through the cords and ‘attacks’ it. It is the reason that rats target such cords all the time and rodents and lapines are cousins on the genetic tree. I’m not sure if it is a breed thing or just one of those random genetic things that has them do it. My girl will always attack any cords she hops across while my boy never notices them.

Home depot is your friend. I invested in some thick plumbing tubing, the stuff with the mesh embedded in the plastic, for my cords. No bunny marks yet!

It’s kinda funny, I was bad and hadn’t fully bunny proofed all of my cords for maybe a month. And they ignored them pretty much completely. Then I finally got my bunny proof flexible plastic tubing, and Kate starting trying to eat them immediately. They didn’t move but somehow it made them more interesting! She’s back to ignoring them though, thankfully. I’m sure with some effort she should get through it. All of the plastic tubes aren’t particularly attractive as a home decor choice, but they don’t tangle anymore and bunnies are safe, so I call it a win-win.

Definitely time to bunny proof! Mine aren’t into cords and we have a lamp cord right in their normal run-path. They’ve never touched it except the other day Otto would not leave it alone. I bunny proofed it first and was starting to think the bunny proofing was unnecessary, but you never know what they’ll decide to get into when they’re bored one day!

I think I’ll get some more of the nic grids, they’re so handy! The chord that she chewed is on a shelf underneath my tv and its closed off so I don’t know how she got up there :S Cheeky bunny!!
