› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › who else is doing the pre-winter break scramble?
The weeks right before winter break are always SO stressful and the last week before it starts is the worst, everyone is scrambling to get everything done by that Friday deadline. My week has been like this: Monday – mom’s surgery, Tuesday: 3 hour long concert, Wednesday: 4 hour long orientation at humane society. I have a history project, Theory of Knowledge essay, biology lab, math test, Japanese essay, and English IOP (internal oral presentation which accounts for 15% of my English grade for the next two years) all due on Friday. With all that the teachers have shown us absolutely no mercy, even though they assigned big stuff already and technically it’s a rule at my school to not give hw on a concert day, but of course they chose that day to pile on some more. For example, for the last 3 weeks we’ve had to do a page analysis of a new Derek Walcott poem EVERY day (it gets old) and the one day this week that we weren’t going to have one assigned was the day of the concert, but my teacher suddenly decides the morning of to move things around so we had it actually had to do it that night, thanks a heap. Worst thing is, I know there’s probably a lot of people out there who have it way worse than me this week.
So, what do you have to accomplish before break starts?
*raises hand* yep me too. Woohoo, BB study party!
Haha ToK essay…I think mine was something about the delineation between art and science, and I said that it had to do with replicability? Good luck with that!
Well I guess I don’t have a scramble, at least in comparison…just a physio exam over neuromuscular and cardiac physiology, bleh. It’s insane how complex the heart is, considering that it’s (mostly) just one big muscle! I’ve been studying so much, and I feel like I understand everything when I read it, but the moment I move on to something else the old stuff that I just read just pours out of my ears…can’t keep it all in…D:
Heehee sounds like that would hurt your head, we are just finishing our math unit so it’s in class essay on that.
JUST a physio exam over neuromuscular and cardiac physiology?!
Haha that sounds so complicated and like it would need a lot of studying. Good luck!
That’s what’s nice about being in grad school. I typically don’t have as many things. So I just had two papers due (15-25 pages each) and two presentations to give. No final exams this semester, but that’s because I had a seminar and the other class was on research so we did research. LOL
The problem with grad school is now I have to scramble because grades are due and I have to get a ton of stuff graded that I didn’t have time to do because I was so busy working on my papers/presentations. =\
psh, got my finals done a week earlier than my entire school! I have been chilling at home for a week now and it feels soooo good not to worry. I am basking in my glory right now.

Well, I technically don’t get a break.
Break? What break? My breaks are more stressful than my school (which, to give you an idea – I spent 24+ hours a week on ONE CLASS this semester). My Christmas is crazy this year- HJ and I are going apartment hunting for him (he got a real job!), then home to celebrate his brother’s birthday, then to MD for Christmas, Charlottesville for New Years, and central PA for the following 3 days, then home for his graduation party, then I have school starting the 9th. Toss in working 3 days a week on top of that, with only 2 days being taken off.
I have a sociology final tomorrow and psychology final on Saturday. Fortunately, all my papers are done.
Not in school yet, but today is my last day of work until Sunday. I have worked 7 days straight.
I spent two days solid in the sculpture studio finishing my piece…. and it is awful but I am going to bite the bullet and just accept it. I have one more final to take this evening and I am done.
I went to the on-campus book/supply store and found some nifty little gifts for a few family members. I got a jewelry making kit and some flesh colored markers for my mom and some sparkly little rings for my sisters. I wanted to find a hoody for my brother but they were all more than I wanted to charge to my student account. Oh well, at least that is one less person I have to spend what little cash I do have on.
I haven’t been in school for years, but Bunnyfriend, I just had to chime in when I saw ToK essay! I went to an IB school too and I completely forgot about ToK.

This! I am taking 7 days off of work (not counting the weekends) that’s because I saved up half of my 15 total vacation days. I miss breaks
ugh i have two HUGE tests and a 6 page paper due friday (tomorrow!!!) but its worth it because on saturday im getting a new bun! and this whole break will be spent litterbox training the new one (Riki is the name) and training my current bun Nova to not piddle on my bed and he can live in my room again.
Elrohwen: Haha yeah I hope to forget about some stuff too once I’m graduated. I’ve been awake since 6 a.m…..yesterday. No sleep for me last night
Had to get my history project out of the way. I kept nodding ofd for like 3 seconds in class but now I’m at the point where I just need to stay awake for a couple more hours.
aerosmithgrl: Eeek definitely worth it! Lucky. I know what you mean though, I have had no free time really all week (heh well except for a little bit on BB). The bunnies haven’t really gotten attention and my horse hasn’t been ridden. But I know if I work my butt off for just one more night and day it will be so worth it.
LoveChaCha and longhairmike: work does not sound like fun.
