Hey, I was just wondering, does anyone else have this thing that when they stand up suddenly or strech they kind of feel dizzy and see whiteness for a couple of seconds, and feel tired all of a sudden?
This happens to me pretty often, I read that it was because of standing up your blood pressure drops because the blood is rushing to your legs from you standing up.
Im just wondering if anyone else has this happen to them?
It just is kind of weird.
It happens to me occasionally, usually when I’ve been slacking in the vitamin department :p
I get head rushes all the time…I have even blacked out a couple times. I have never been able to pinpoint what causes this for me but it gets kind of annoying it happens so often. They are definitely weird!
I’ll ahev to ask my mom again what can cause em, she’s a know it all nurse lol.
That actually happens to me almost every time I stand up to fast, except what I see for a second is kind of blackish.
When I stand up no whiteness just the world spinning very quickly lol
Haha, I am glad that I am not the only one that this happens to,
mrmac- you black out? you mean like faint? I sometimes feel weak so I fall on the floor but I don’t stay down for long, and I can stay up by holding onto something, but if I am home, its kinda nice to lye on the comfy ground
.
I was luckey I did not faint when I gave blood at the blood drive, my friends would have gotten a kick out of that.
There is an episode of “Friend’s” where Phebe stands up to fast & gets a head rush. She then sits back down and says “Okay, one more. But, then I got to go!” Ha, ha, ha!
This happened to me alot when I was much younger – in my teens. It was due to lack of iron for me. It’s not uncommon to be anemic. I also don’t doubt I had a lack of Vit D (from living in Alaska and not having alot of Sun), but I was never tested for that so that could have been part of it. It can also be due to hormone imbalances.
If this happens alot, you should go to the doctor, they can do a blood test and get you back on track, especially if you have a lull in energy too. If it is a lack of iron, it can take some time to set straight as iron is not absorbed into the body very easily and you have to keep up with it. (or at least that’s the way it was for me, things may have changed now where they have things to help with quicker absorbtion)
mrmac – you should definitely get that checked. It’s probably something easy enough to get treated. Many people don’t go because either it’s not serious enough or they are afraid it’s something serious.
This happens to me sometimes. My eyes go black though, not white. I can’t give blood because of it… after giving blood if I stand up or sit up I can’t see OR hear. It happens to me when I’m dehydrated, or lacking in salt (low blood pressure or something). Vitamin B may make a difference with me.
I have enough iron when it happens to me for sure….
Well, my mom said when I was younger it was from me having both a lack of iron and a lack of vitamin B12. I had to be on daily injections of B12 for quite awhile when I was in my teens, and my mom had me on prenatal vitamins for the extra iron lol. I rarely have it happen now ![]()

You know BB, my son complains of this kidn of thing happening to him. I wonder if it’s the iron or vitamin D? (I have a heck of a time getting him to take stuff, he is a bit of a hypochondriac and questions everythign that goes into his mouth except for dried mango, raisin bagels and lean pockets.) I wonder if it is the lack of sunlight thing here? We have a VERY dark house (more windows = extra fuel for heat in winter) and he doesn’t go outside much. But it seems to hit him even in summer. He’ll be at the infirmary every day at college if we don’t find out what it is.
He’s very skinny too and has a lousy diet. You’d think at 19 he’d understand how to prepare something more for himself than frozen or convenience foods. How he graduated a scholar with so littel brain food, I have no idea! 0_o
If he has a lousy diet, its probably the lack of vitamins and iron. He just needs a multi-vitamin a day to make it a bit better i think.
Actually what he needs is self-discipline. I give him vitamins to take and he doesn’t take them and I get the “I forgot” excuse all the time. >.<
teenagers! hehe
*conveinently forgets that she isn’t that much older >.>*
Well he’s going to get a wake-up call this fall. He’s living on campus at the dorm and will have a whole meal ticket plan waiting for him every day..so hopefully he’ll make healthy choices.
And if not…we’re only about 40 minutes down the road, so I’ll probably get a phonecall, “Um mom…can you get some groceries for me?”
From what my hubby tells me about college… I don’t forsee much in healthy choices lol.
SAGECAT! YES!
im absolutely addicted to friends. and you beat me to the quote! ![]()
and mimz, i’m 19 so maybe i can shed some light
my mom tried to get me to take vitamins allll day the time, and i really did geniunely forget!! i didn’t start taking them until i had a blood test done and the dr yelled at me. so now i take them every day
that may help. also, college food is ridiculously unhealthy, but it is yummy! i doubt he’ll be calling for groceries with all the choices nowadays. he just has to swipe his card and BAM food is already prepared waiting to be eaten. XD
*sigh*
I don’t remember being like this at 19. By then I’d had food poisoning so many times from fast food junkets that I was a vegetarian and lived on tofu and steamed vegetables and lemongrass tea. That was it.
Could stand to do that again…except with my particular brand of cancer, I am not supposed to eat soy. ![]()
