  Hi guys. So my neatherland cross has always had a really wonky eye. She’s had it like that since we brought her. She usually gets cloudy white gunk in her eye as a result (she is not weepy or anything, and when I found out what the stuff was, it said it was normal especially in nethies because of their big eyes) However, yesterday when I saw her eye, it was like she has a white speck literally within her eye. Kind of like her eyes colour has been lost in that area. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before ?? I think it might be an ulcer but I’m unsure. Either way, just wanted to see if anyone has had this issue before I take her to the vets. Thanks

  There should be an “insert image” icon next to the attached file name. If you cannot see that, there maybe an issue with the actual file name. So you will need to save it with a different name without symbols and upload again. Then click on insert image.

  Yeah sorry, I thought it wasn’t posting, and I tried to figure it out. But then I gave up and thought maybe it was just me who couldn’t see it. Thanks for the help! Here it is:

  I’ll kind of repeat what I said in that post.
  
  Wick has a similar mark, but it’s in his left eye. He is a ND as well. I don’t think he had it when we received him at 8w (not sure), but I noticed it and brought it up at his first vet appointment. After examining the eye (a noninvasive examination), my vet (exotic) ruled it was just a random speck. No idea why it’s there, but it’s harmless was the determination. Fast forward to the present which is two months later, it’s still the same small size and hasn’t done anything negative.
  
  I highly recommend having your vet look at it, but know there is a possibility it’s innocuous.

  It could be a variety of things and will need a vet to take a look. If a corneal ulcer, they can be stubborn and take time to heal. Or sometimes there will be fatty deposits (lipids) appear in the cornea, usually due to diet,
  
  If it’s the coloured part of the eye, then you are probably looking at uveitis. A common cause of that in rabbits is the E. Cuniculi parasite.
  
  This is an image of phagoclastic uveitis sometimes seen when E.C. has affected the eye.

  Yeah I plan to take her to the vet hopefully today. Only issue is we have no rabbit vets around my area. Hopefully it is nothing but we will see. Also sometime has told me how it could be a sign of E. Cuniculi parasite. However, she doesn’t show any other symptoms. She is a perfectly normal and happy bunny, just with a weird eye. Well hopefully it isn’t that anyway!!

  Uveitis is often the only symptom in young rabbits with EC. I agree with Jersey, it should be checked out.

  Hi Everyone,
  I also have a young rabbit (5 months) with a spec in her eye.
  So I have to start by saying that my bun Qiviut and I have had a very tough week. I live in a town in the Northwest Territories ( limited bunny vet care ) so had to bring Qivi down south with me during a work trip to be spayed. The surgery was hard enough, then she pulled a stitch, and had to have the incision site stapled. While the vet was inspecting her eyes she found a little cataract in one eye. It is small but there ( size of a dull pencil mark). This is not a cornea cataract ( so not self inflicted). I contacted the breeder I got her from, and there are no signs of parasite infections in the litter or previous litters.
  
  I guess I just need some support and any suggestions on how to prevent the cataract from getting worse, as well as some reasons why this happened. Her parents and sister ( the breeder still has) also have clear eyes.
