I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked/answered.

As much of you know I have a neutered male rabbit. Can a neutered male be bonded with another NEUTERED male? Or should they only be bonded with a spayed female. I only ask this because if I decide to bond Hatter, I don’t want to be “wasting” my time looking at males when I should only be looking at females.

Thanks to all you experts out there!

I’ll suggest that you let Hatter make the decision ‘-) and see who he chooses.

I’ve taken 2 of my bunnies dating and they had very different reactions to different bunnies they met. The ones that I had kinda picked out turned out to be the worst matches. One chased Daisy and scared him and the other big girl sat on him. He chose the lovely Lola out of the bunch we met.

There are plenty of pairs of boys around, and plenty of boy/girl too. It’s all up to the bunnies really.

Conventional wisdom is that the easiest and most stable bonds are male-female. However, in the words of Petzy, “Nothing is easy when a girl is involved”.

So I would take him on dates and see who he likes – male or female. I also found that the rescues were aware which of their males would be ok bonding to another male and which didn’t like it.

Yes, take him bunny-dating when you’re ready! Female bunnies are… difficult. Like Elrohwen said, the male/female bonds are supposed to be easier and may eventually be a “deeper bond”, but there is nothing wrong with two males, that tends to become a strong friendship.
