I’m mostly just curious what other people do. I have a new house rabbit, at the moment the litter box is in my living room but I’m thinking of moving it to the bathroom. It would mean that the occasional whiff of smell would be less bothersome, and would also allow for the bathroom to be used as an ’emergency containment area’ for when I need to keep him out of the way for some reason. But, it might also mean he spent a lot of time in the bathroom rather than hanging out in the living room where I usually am, which might be sad! So while I wobble around my own indecision – where do you keep your rabbit litter box and why?

Wick has a litter box in my bedroom and two in the living space. He gets apple cider vinegar with the mother in his water, so they don’t smell. The placement is so he can easily get to a box when needed.

My rabbits have their trays in their bedroom. They can’t free roam the whole house as I’m living with my mum but previously, when I had my own house the litter trays were in the living room.

When at home, Panda and Fernando have their litterbox in a corner of their condo on the lower deck, in a nicely shaded place so it’s always dark and pleasantly cool back there. Fernando likes to hang out in the litterbox when he’s not hopping around or sunning himself on the upper deck (he’s started chilling in the hidey boxes on upper level more often recently), and Panda has her favorite hidey box that she retreats to as a matter of routine. Away from home, as this past week, their carrier, with ample space for the pair, contains a completely equipped litterbox.
