My mom has a bunny, around 2 years old, she says he is a minilop. He has been housed out side this spring with a hutch and a fenced in outside area. We have chickens here temporarily, and we needed to extend their area so we did some research on cohabitation and we connected the coop and hutch to the same out door pen. Owen (the bunny) stopped going into the out door pen but he’s got two floors and plenty of space in the hutch and the chickens will be gone in a week so we haven’t been too worried and made sure to give him extra love and treats (arugula, his favorite). It has also been pretty damp weather and he’d rather be in his hutch with a bunch of hay anyways. Last night my mom heard him wheezing so this morning we brought him inside and he has been wheezing some.
He has no discharge of any kind, he’s eating and drinking and he is hopping and kicking about, messing with the dogs like he loves to do, but wheezes on and off while hopping about and while resting. Any ideas? I read it could be due to stress (his new roommates??) or nasal infection but he doesn’t appear to have the other symptoms that go along with nasal infections.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
