I have a little veggie garden for the buns. 20 varieties of lettuce, kale, parsley, turnip greens, borage, mustard greens, cilantro, basil, lamon balm, mint, brussel sprouts, corn sheaths, collards. Fruit includes banana, apple, strawberry tops, blue berries, grapes (not for Lancelot – gives him cow piles), cantelope, paw-paw (papaya), pear, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli.
From the front yard, I pick dandilion leaves.
I pick the veggies fresh every day, and save small amounts of fruit from my breakfast. Carrots, cauliflower and broccoli I use in their bonding sessions.
This is my dream! Unfortunately, the hot climate here makes a vegetable garden more difficult. I am able to grow mint and basil, though.
Hugo’s salad differs depending on the day. I’m trying to get into the habit of alternating which vegetables I buy each week, because they go bad so quickly, and it’s not worth buying too many different kinds of vegetables. His favorites are romaine (which is a staple), dandelion greens, and fennel, and I also regularly give him cilantro, dill, parsley, mint, and basil.
