I’ve perused many small animal forums in the last few years and understand the pros and cons of various types of litters. I’ve read many topics on this forum that seem to dislike anything other than Carefresh, even though most other places I go recommend Aspen or Carefresh.
I tried Carefresh in the begging with my Polish x Lionhead. This is what happened:

It stuck to everything. Her bum would have trails of Carefresh stuck to it. The floor would get really gross with streaks of paper everywhere. Her face would get a bit of a mane to the edges of it. I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem. Roscoe has short hair, but I’m not going to switch for one bun. I bought an 8 cu ft bag of Aspen for $12. It lasted me six months with just her.
Does anyone here use Aspen?
I haven’t litter trained because I don’t have a large roaming space set up. Bunnies roam free in separate rooms (til he’s neutered). Their cages aren’t big enough for proper litter pans. Roscoe was picked up from the street and I have him in a temporary space. I will have a large cage for two buns once I pick it up from a family member– but that can’t happen til the neuter/bonding. Then I want to set up NIC cubes in a corner of my spare bedroom so that my house can cease to be covered in litter. So many things depend on each other. Currently pricing out options and making a timeline.
