What you all feeding?

My new buns were on chudleys rabbit royale when i bought them so just gonna stick with it. Im lucky as we have a equine shop that sells most feeds so can get it there but local pet shops dont sell it.

Just wondering what everyone else feeds their buns?

Bam – for info – I just bought my first FibaFirst 2 kg packet from amazon uk and did arrive, but it came with a notice saying they aren’t continuing the 2kg any more, but the 500g will still be available! 500g is more expensive than 2kg (£12.10 for 2kg, £3.79 for 500g = £15. OK not that much more, but still!)
I only bought it as treats for them for their new condo (OK so I didn’t realise how many sticks would be in 2kg – hundreds !!!!! LOL).
They looove them.

Oxbow Adult Diet. However they only really get pellets as treats now. Licorice needed to lose weight, gradually took him of pellets. It was easier to take Winter off them too and give her extra veggies. Now he’s at a better weight but everything is fine now but I never got back into feeding them, just more veggies for both.

Be aware that they switched their formula recently, though, if you decide you wanna try it! I order from chewy.com a lot (I’m in the U.S. and they sent me the old formula. Thankfully I had enough of the new to transition my bun but just be cautious! ). Chewy was nice enough to send me a new package for alerting them, but it was still the old formula. Nice gesture, though!

You’re right about the oxbow, I did notice the new packaging but I never checked the ingredients/formula. It’s very similar though, a few changes in position of ingredients and one or two gone.

Not that Bam is picky with pellets, but he is picky with hay so the extra high fiber content has been a godsend.

Oh, I see, they’re keeping the small pack! I will do that of course, at least as long as its possible to shop from the UK. Here 500 g Fiba First costs (the equiv. of) 8.99 pounds. Seeing as Effi (dog) eats half of Bam’s pellets, it’d get crazy expensive very soon.

Today Bam got fresh spring grass from the outside. He was SO pleased!!!

And the DANDELIONS !!! OMG, they’re EVERYWHERE – HUUUUGE ones !!!

50/50 mix of small pet select and sherwood adult. 1/4 cup a day split in 2 feedings per bunny. Once the small pet select is finished, I’ll use just sherwood adult for Guin and Lancelot, and Sherwood professional for Avalon and Morgana. Lancelot (very thin) gets unlimited hay cookies that I bake for him using either critical care (Oxbow) or SARx (Sherwood Forest), with ground up timothy and alfalfa compressed hay cubes, banana, carrot, and parsley. They all get plenty of veggies. No fruit and no commercial treats.
Hay: Timothy, orchard, oat/barley, occasional alfalfa. Compressed timothy hay cubes, and compressed timothy/alfalfa hay cubes.

Thank you for this thread. It inspired me to go out and search our property for dandelions, and although they are not up yet, I did find some nice fresh grass.

I don’t really have any positive advice on what to feed, because I feel like I’ve been struggling with this ever since we got Silas. He had constant large mushy poops for three years while on Oxbow, then normal sized poops on Sherwood until he developed a partial blockage. Now we can’t seem to stop the tiny dry poops from happening every time we try to take him off medication.

What quantities of veggies are you giving? I’ve always understood the recommended amount was 2 cups, but I find myself tempted to feed a lot more lately in an attempt to get more water and food in him. The first thing to decrease with his poops is his interest in hay and pellets.

I give less because he has a cecal problem
Sometimes I wonder if I’m not giving him enough nutrients, does anyone have experience with this?

Nutrients come from pellets, a variety of veggies, and a variety of hay. For people who dont’ feed pellets, they use a variety of veggies/hay to meet the nutritional needs. I

It looks interesting! I’ve never seen it before and I’m wondering if it would be a nice mix with the oxbow for variety. All the flowers and dried and inside the pellets.

I think that this pellet is a great idea actually I was going to buy it myself but I looked at the nutritional values and it doesn’t have much vitamins compared to oxbow
I think that this could be a great treat or a small small portion of your buns daily pellets

You’ll hear a bunch of opinions… It’s not bad. It has good fiber, but I’m trying to get away from wheat midlings, soy, and molasses. I would personally not feed anything by Kaytee – as a staple pellet.
