Right now I’m using. Care fresh in their little box,
But with the amount of times that I am cleaning it, it is
Getting a bit expensive. Can anyone recommend a cost
        Effective litter?

I use stove pellets (100% natural, no addictives). They’re not costly, you don’t need many per litter change and they absorb quite well

Yes, the stove pellets are meant for a wood stove. They are compressed pine or hardwood. You have to make sure that you get the plain ones with no accellerants. They come in 40 pound bags for around $6. The other very inexpensive litter is horse stall bedding, a pelleted pine bedding. It is also sold in 40 pound bags for around $6. Equine Pine in one brand. There is also Equine Fresh.

I love Aspen Shavings. NOT other wood shavings, just aspen. They are safe because they do not give off the mild chemical fumes that pine shavings do. Pelleted litter is good, such as Feline Pine or the wood stove pellets mentioned which are very inexpensive.

But if you want softer, aspen shavings, which not cheap to buy, is about 4x the odor control, so you change it less often. I usually find that Spike pees in one area of the big litter pan, so I brush a fresh layer over that spot and he goes in clean litter with no smell at all. Change as little as twice a week. It’s my favorite for years. (Just be careful to read the bag description carefully. Only get the Aspen, not a mixed wood with aspen.)

Yesterday’s News is a recycled paper product pellet that is also good. Kaytee also makes a soft bedding. Just avoid colors and scents.

I used to use CareFresh for many years for my rats and previous bunny, but I recently switched to using wood stove pellets because they are soooooooo much cheaper and actually I find that they work better. I get a 40 pound bag for roughly $5-6 from Tractor Supply Co. and it lasts about 2 months.

I found a 40lb bag at walmart for 5$ and they are working great so far. Thank you so much! Now if i could just get them to stop kicking it out of the cage….lol
I usually change their litter every morning, and sometimes evening depending on how it smells. With these stove pellets when I woke up this morning I couldn’t smell the litter box at all, it was great!

Are you just using it in the litter box?
It’s amazing what they manage to kick/drag/fling out of the litter box!
Check out the litter screens that the binky bunny store has. That helps.

Yup, just in the litter box i got them a really big litter box so it has helped a little bit, but licorice loves to dig in there and kick it all over the place
