We were sold a bunny that was said to be a Holland Lop in January and were told he was 8 weeks old. During our first vet visit after 2-3 weeks after that we had him weighed at 2.8 pounds. Just yesterday I weight him and he is 3.8 pounds at 4 months! We notice his ears are slightly (actually much) longer than what a traditional Holland lop looks like. We are wondering if he is in fact a Mini Lop/French Lop or perhaps something else? His fur is very soft and has the appearance of a holland lop, but his snout looks a little longer than a holland lop. Here are some pictures from most recent being first and also one of him at 2 months. Thoughts?

My boys are both Holland Lops, but they are false dwarves, and that is right around their weight profile at both of those ages. They are almost a year old and both weigh about 4.5 pounds or a little more depending on the day. False dwarf Hollands have that exact description, their ears are longer and their snoots are pointier than a traditional true dwarf. False dwarves will weigh almost 5 pounds when fully grown, whereas true dwarves are usually around 3ish but not over 4 pounds. Mini Lops look similar, but at full grown they’ll weigh about 6 pounds.

I agree he’s definitely not a full Holland; maybe a Holland mix. Not sure if he’s big enough for a French at this age or not. I’m leaning towards Mini Lop. His adult weight will help in identifying his breed. He’s adorably handsome .

My sister was told that Luna was a Mini Lop, but when I adopted her she was full grown at 4 lbs. 12 oz., so I think Luna is a Holland/Mini mix.

ETA: A&B – *gasp* Do you think Luna could be a false dwarf Holland? I just assumed she was a mix because she was too big to be a Holland and too small to be a Mini.

Hmm, his forehead is broad so I’m going with false dwarf Holland. If he ends up being over 5lbs, then he could be a mini lop instead.

I think if he gets to be 6-7 months and isn’t over 5 pounds, then it’s safe to say he’s a false dwarf. My boys stopped growing around that 6 month mark. They’ve only gained a few ounces after that.

Luna: LOL I definitely think that’s what Luna could be! Or maybe a HollandxMini cross, which would be interesting!

False dwarves are much more common than people might think Im also guessing false dwarf based on the pictures and size.
