I don’t have any idea of where to put this, so forgive me if this is the wrong place…
I’m on summer vacation in Cambridge, MA. (Used to live there.) I was visiting lots of the old places where I used to go, and I went back to the farm that I used to love. I was shocked to see the bunnies, however. I did keep in mind that this was a farm, and these bunnies might be for meat, but… I saw two English lops in wooden hutches outside (the hutches weren’t big enough by far) with wire metal ground and nowhere to rest their paws. Both lops were friendly, and I noticed one of them had some patches on its little paws that were rubbed sore.
Plus, I saw no hay. And English lops aren’t even bred for meat!!!
There were more rabbits, in a larger enclosure that had shavings and soft ground. There were a couple of New Zealand rabbits (adult) and then a litter of baby bunnies. Maybe those were the meat rabbits??
I didn’t get the chance to talk to the manager of the farm. I’ve decided to go back (either today, Friday, or Saturday) and ask if the rabbits are let out of their small cages. (mainly the English loppies, but also the New Zealands.) Also, I shall write a letter, suggesting placing in resting boards.
Is there anything else I can do? Please help !!
