        Hello!

I need a backup pellet (oxbow runs out in stores, since they usually have 2 bags / week, not enough for my bunnies!) In my area, small pet stores are very limited and food is very scarce.

I have baby bunnies and adult bunnies.

I was wondering if these food are okay for all ages or certain ages?

First image of pellets! [info about pellets] Or

MARTIN Rabbit Pellets (Plain) which has:

Ingredients for Martin Plain Rabbit Pellets
Alfalfa Meal, Wheat Shorts, Soya Hulls, Corn Gluten Feed, Soybean Meal,
        Brewers Yeast, Vitamins and Minerals
        Guaranteed Analysis
        Crude Protein (min) 16%
        Crude Fat (min) 4%
        Crude Fibre (min) 18%
        Crude Fibre (max) 20%
        Calcium (actual) 1.0%
        Phosphorus (actual) .6%
        Sodium (actual) .2%
        Vitamin A (min) 15,800 IU/kg
        Vitamin D3 (min) 1,975 IU/kg
        Vitamin E (min) 50 IU/kg
This feed contains added selenium at 0.1 mg/kg

Are these okay for a backup?

I need to buy bulks of bunny food.

Note: First image is from a Canadian farm, they are organic. I don’t want to make them fat, I just want an healthy diet.

        Thanks!

How many bunnies do you have? I ask because I have 3, and a 2kg bag of pellets lasts me MONTHS. Like I literally buy maybe 2 bags a year? It sounds like you could be overfeeding pellets.

The Martin pellets are alfalfa based, which means they’re fine for babies, but will be fattening for adults. The first one doesn’t actually tell you what the ingredients are, so it’s hard to know.

I agree with S&L, alfalfa based for bun under 6 months and Timothy based over 6 months. I usually only give my buns a table spoon or maybe a bit more everyday for each bun as we do agility so they work out while eating pellets.

It does sound like they get a lot of pellets! One bag should definitely last more than a week. Do they get hay at all? Hay needs to be the bulk of their diet. And it’s usually much, much cheaper than pellets especially if you can buy it by the bale from a farm

One thing I did want to say, I understand not wanting to run out of pellets but if they are given a new type (as the back up) it must be introduced slowly so it doesn’t upset their tummies. You might already know that but just in case. If I were you, I would first cut waaay back and make sure they are eating plenty of hay. I would stick with your original pellets but maybe repurchase when you’re halfway through the bag? So you don’t run out. At least if you start looking for a new bag when you’ve still got half left, you’ve got a bit of time if it’s a bit trickier to source.

People might think I have like a breeding house going on, but I have 8 baby bunnies (under 1 month), 4 bunnies at 6 months, and 2, 1 year olds. But my bunnies aren’t overweight at all..it seems like they are BIGGER, as in height wise rather than overweight.

Three of them are mothers, so they eat quite a bit. And some of the babies started eating the pellets. So it’s gone pretty fast. I buy 2 4.5kg obxow for young rabbits, usually gone in 2 weeks.

This is the link to the first pellets I was asking.

They do, most of my bunnies are 6 months and under. But none of them are fat. yes they do get timothy hay from oxbow, but I usually get mine from the farms – but they currently are on vacation, so I had to use oxbow hay for now. Buying bale from a farm is really hard for me, I live in a place where farmers who delivery bales don’t want to deliver. I asked around and they all said delivery would be too expensive, more expensive than the bale which is $65. I’m assuming ebcause it’s far.

Oh yeah, I do put it slowly, like a mixture.

Information about pellets That’s the information, is it safe? I was wondering if it’s okay for all ages, or just adult bunnies?

How did you get so many bunnies?!

Also if we know what type of breed or mixes of breeds they might be we might be able to advise on how much they should get

It was a mistake, I went on vacation and told the people who were taking care of my bunnies to not let the male (which I had set up a fence) be with them.

They ended up moving them to a bigger room and left the male rabbit with 3 females. And all my 3 female rabbits got pregnant.

Oh, I already know what they should be getting. They are a mini rex + dutch mix. But it’s because three of them recently had babies so I am feeding them alfalfa based pellets and they eat like crazy. The babies had started to nibble on the pellets.
