Hello everyone! Apologies if I did not post this in the right place. I am still learning the rules of the forum. (:

This beautiful little angel is Honey. She has been my little pride and joy as of two weeks now. I got her from a neighbor who’s bunnies had babies. I met her mom and dad. The mom was a big white bunny wth straight up ears. Her dad was tan, just like her and smaller. I think he had floppy ears but I cannot remember ):

I’m not sure how old she is (can anybody here speak on that?) and I’m not sure what breed she is, or if she even is a “breed” since her mom and dad looked so different.

So y’all, my question is what type of bunny is she? Can you tell if her ears will flop down (this is what I’m most curious about) or how big she will get? Either way I love her to the moon and back, but I’m curious (:

P.S. sorry for any blurriness. She is not a fan of sitting still!

Hey there! Honey sounds like a doll! The name Honey itself is such a sweet name, I’ve been loving that name recently!

However, i don’t see any pictures. When you post pictures to a post, you have to upload them and then insert them into the post. They also have to be under 500kb.

Click on “Attachments”, then “choose the file”, “upload”, and then there should be a little icon that looks like a picture with a green plus sign on it. Above it says “insert image”, and as long as its under 500kb it should insert into the post.  I hope to see the photos soon!

I fixed your pictures. They were uploaded, they just weren’t inserted.

Honey is adorable! Judging by her ears, I’d say she is a lop mix. So your memory about dad bunny is probably correct.

Ah, thank you!! Still learning the ropes.

Okay, thank you! The dad was so fast (they were outdoor bunnies) so from the glimpse I got I was pretty sure he had lopped ears. Thanks for the confirmation!

Hello! It looks like a forum leader fixed my post and inserted my photos for me (Yay, thank you!) so now here’s Honey! LOL.

I love the name honey for her. It goes well with her coloring and her disposition. She is SO sweet. Her binkys melt my heart!!

                  Squeee!

She is way too cute!!  I’ve always loved tan/fawn colored buns. If the dad did have lop ears, her’s may fall. My friend has a mini lop and his ears fell around the time she got him, i think he was about 8-9 weeks but he was also full lop. Some ears fall early on, some fall later on, some don’t fall at all, but either way they are too cute! I hope you keep us updated with pictures!

What a cutie! Definitely partial lop so maybe you’ll get some helicopter ears

Could you ask the neighbor how old she is? She seems really small. If she’s under 8 weeks you’ll want to get her seen by a vet and you’ll need to monitor poops and eating. Bunnies shouldn’t be leaving their moms before 8 weeks. I have two Holland Lops, and they were a little on the heavier side at 8 weeks so a lot of Hollands look so tiny to me at 8 weeks xD

Okay, I just asked her and she said they were 4 weeks old ): I feel so horrible to think Honey should be with her mom now. That means she’s 6 weeks old now. I thought she was probably young because she is substantially bigger than when I first got her. Here she is the day she came home:

She eats A LOT. She has ulimited Timothy hay/ water, a cup of pellets (with all the good ratios of protein and all that), and three stalks of Romain lettuce a day. I also give her a couple of shoe string carrots a day (I try to limit because they are sugary but she LOVEs them LOL). She also poops a lot. Like crazy a lot. She can drop like 10 pellets over the course of a few minutes. Is that bad? Well I intended to take her to the vet any way for general wellness, and to get her age because I want to get her neutered.

Thank you for letting me know! I really had no idea what age she was. This is my first bunny and I honestly didn’t even know if she was going to get bigger LOL

oh she’s going to get much bigger if she’s only 6 weeks old. She’ll reach full size anywhere between 6-8 months. Her diet sounds good, but limit the carrots to 2 times a week because as you said, they are sugary. When she gets to 12 weeks old you can start slowly (every few days) introducing new veggies and seeing how her tummy reacts to it. At 6 months old you can start giving her fruit. The amount she’s pooping is good and if they’re the size of a frozen pea and a good brown color. She might produce cecals too which look like little grape clusters, and she should be eating those. If you see a lot lying around her diet could be too rich, so try cutting down/off of the romaine.

Since you got her at such a young age, she could actually be a he. Baby bunnies are incredibly difficult to sex. Some males have even dropped as late as 8 months old. If she’s a girl the best age to spay is at 6 months and if she’s a boy you can neuter him at 4 months/as long as there are testicles. Make sure you go to a good bunny savvy vet or exotics vet. A normal vet won’t know much about bunnies.
