Spaying/Neutering costs really depend on the area that you live in and what that particular vet is charging. My vet charged me the same price that she does her cats & dogs. I paid $200 which included Critical Care, pre-operation blood screening, Sub-Q fluids, Metacam, and anesthesia. However, I did travel an hour and half to do the procedure with my trusted vet. I would not have paid to do the procedure with someone that I was not confident in. I know that some vets will quote you from $60 and upwards. I think the vets in Orlando charge you $800. So it honestly is what you feel comfortable paying and who you feel comfortable enough to do the procedure.

Prices for rabbits do tend to be higher than that for dogs and cats, because rabbit operation require special training and care and qualify as “exotic” veterinary treatment. I paid $180 for a neuter and $300+ for a spay, including blood panels and pain medications to take home. Prices will vary depending on where you live.

I got quoted $260 at my local vets to spay a female bunny but I found a rabbit vet a few hours north of where I live that spays for $179 and they’ve had a lot of rabbit experience. When Thee and Seph were spayed they had surgery and had recovered in the space of 3 hours. Needless to say that any rabbit I get in the future will be going to this vet, even their calici vaccination is $27 cheaper up there and when you have 3 it’s worth the drive

It was just over $200 to get my Monkey done, and that included meds, and all the extras. I’m in Oregon though, and prices do vary depending on your location, and how far you are willing to drive.

I live in the Delaware area and was quoted 459 for my buns. But I found a place that did Harley’s neuter for $65 and will do Sally’s spay for $100. And if you need any kind if follow up appt due to any complications it will be free of charge. Just do some research and see what you can find. I had to drive about an hour or so to a neighboring state to get an affordable spay/neuter.

callie’s cost me six hundred, all inclusive . the post op follow up visit was calculated in that too. i live in northeast nj.

ten years ago cosie’s cost me about three hundred, but that was a different vet. i like my current vet much better.

Prices definitely vary from place to place. If you have any rabbit rescues in the area sometimes they might be able to help you find a low cost spay/neuter option in your area. I would also call vets in surrounding cities if you have transportation. Sometimes it can be cheaper to drive out of town then spay/neuter in town if the costs in your area are high.

I paid $290 to get one of my bunnies spayed and $90 for the other. I spent $650 getting 4 rabbits altered and $320 to get 3 cats and 2 dogs altered. Bunnies are definitely more expensive.

I paid over $200 for a neuter and that was many many years ago. We are in the San Francisco Bay Area. However, the rest of the bunnies I adopted already pre-neutered from a shelter and though their adoption price was $80 dollars, it included the neuter and spay, so I got off cheap that way!

In Sweden, I payed 740 sek, which is 114 US Dollars or 75 British pound sterling a month ago for a neuter.

Question, when you guys pay for blood panels to be done…what are they doing exactly? I’m a medical technologist and would like to know what tests they’re charging you guys for. Anyone know?

A usual pre-anaesthetic panel checks kidney, heart, liver, pancreas, thyroid, blood sugar, hydration levels, and white & red blood cell count. I can’t remember the full list off the top of my head, but it’s usually around 10-15 things depending on the lab set up.

I paid $175 for my neuters, I believe the spays were $210. That wasn’t including the prepan.

I really think a lot of vets take advantage of the fact that rabbits are considered “exotic” and charge way more than necessary. This is frustrating to me because it will deter a lot of people from getting their rabbits spayed/neutered. We all know what happens most times to unaltered rabbits; the owners get frustrated with the behavior or spraying urine and dump the rabbit.

Thankfully around here there is a low cost spay/neuter clinic. They charge $45 for a male and $55 for female. The vet who performs the surgeries is rabbit savvy. I personally would rather pay a bit more and have taken my rabbits to a vet, but had the priveledge of going under a rescue and paying the rescue fee, though it was still $180 for a spay.
