I rescued Bentley from the local shelter, and they didn’t know what breed he could be. When I took him to the vet, she said he could be a Rex but I’m not sure. He’s short haired (very soft/plush), and about 5 pounds give or take. His ears are upright.
        Any suggestions are appreciated!
        Thanks, guys!

Also, I can’t figure out how to add a photo, but in my profile picture, he’s the one on the right.

            Are his whiskers curly?

If Bentley has short, velvety fur and short, curly, wispy whiskers, then that is a Rex. I love his markings – he’s very handsome!

I copied and pasted the image URL in my browser. He looks like a Rex to me.

Thank you! his whiskers are very short, like he barely has any. I suppose they are kinda curly too.
I guess he must be a Rex!
Do you think he’s a mini or just regular? Like I said, he’s 5 lbs give or take.

Is he full grown? Mini rexes top out at about 4-4.5 pounds, standard rexes can get as big as 8 pound. So depending on if he’s full grown and what his body shape is like, he could be a big mini or a small standard. 🙂

Yes, he’s full grown (estimated to be 5 yrs) and he’s kinda rounded on his back when he’s “sitting” normally

Something to keep in mind when trying to figure out a rabbit’s breed is that most bunnies in a given litter will not perfectly match the breed standard. Even with careful breeding you get dutchs with one cheek marking higher than the other, or spots on the white shoulders, or you get hotots with black ears. Sometimes two netherland dwarf parents produce a baby missing the dwarf gene. Genetics are a bit of a craps shoot.

So, this bunny being overweight for a mini rex, and underweight for a standard rex, just means he isn’t a “show quality” bunny but is a “pet quality” bunny. My guess is over weight mini rex.

                          Good point, Eepster!!!

Fortunately, WE don’t care if a bun isn’t “show quality”! 🙂

I’m guessing a mini rex then. Mini rexes are prone to being overweight, but depending on his frame, he might just be a big guy. Your vet would be the best person to ask if he is at an acceptable weight or if he needs to slim down a bit.
