Had an OMG moment the other day and now I wanna hear yours…

OK so I’ll start with my story…

I wanted to have a family picnic with my SO and Teddy. We live right across from Rushcutter’s Bay park which is a beautful place. I’d been prepping for a while to make a suitable senario that was safe for Teddy so I planned on taking his travel bag, his lease and having a little area where he could hop around and could dash into his travel bag in case he got scared.

        I couldn’t go wrong

So I tested his lease at home and made sure it fit correctly. He wore it for about 20 mins with no dramas.

We got to the park and set up, he started to come out of his bag, one hop, two hop – THE LEASH COMES OFF!

I actually died for a second. My little Teddy in the middle of a gianormous park, off a main road, with dogs everywhere.

I stood up very carefully and luckily he had flattened himself – I slowly scooped down and picked him up super quick!!

        Very scary moment!!

Needless to say – no more family picnics!!

Could you bring an xpen next time? That would be safer.

I remember freaking out once when Wooly flew out of his temporary cage (when we first brought him home). He fell to the floor, about 3 feet. He bounced. Then he took off running. I had thought I had killed him, but he was fine.

Yep that would have freaked me out like crazy! Glad he was ok!

I have an xpen – I just wasn’t sure about bringing it in case I look like a crazy person….but then again I tried to take my bun on a leash so I guess I’m already in that category

Good idea – will definately use that! Yay for family picnics!

There’s been lots of them, funny and scary. The most memorable would be when Pepper and Piglet were still little and they were in the little hutch before I upgraded. Opened the lid to the top story to put in some extra hay and treats and check they hadn’t made a mess. Piglet who is on the bottom story looks up, comes flying up the ramp but instead of stopping he takes a giant leap and is suddenly airborne over the side of the hutch, spikes a perfect landing on the wicca chair (4 feet away) in the middle of the cushions and proceeds to look at me as if to say “Hey, Look what I can do Mummy”
Pepper who was in the sleeping box at the point and time of launch was peeking over the side with a WTF look on her face.
