  I’m so excited! I’ve been making great progress in therapy finally. I’m off my crutches in the house. At least until the weather clears up here. Then I won’t need them at all. I’m able to keep up with everything in the house besides carrying the laundry up the stairs and vacuuming. So I did A LOT of talking with my husband and the rescue and we decided on a bun based on my current abilities. They are even giving me a supply package so I don’t have to go out and buy all new stuff since I donated all my bunny supplies to them. Plus she uses an old cage base as her litterbox! She’s such a big girl. So we will be picking her up Saturday morning!
  
  She is a Flemish Giant and the mom of 2 Flemish Giant girls at the rescue. She turns 2 on the 31st.
  
  Here is what they have to say about Kelly (not sure she’ll be keeping that name). Kelly is quieter and “snugglier” in my opinion, a tad more shy but that is going away more and more every day. I think she will be a good choice for you since she is super good with her box and a pretty clean and laid back girl! She’s not a big player. More of a lounger! No chewing or digging for me, snuggling and lounging usually.

  Congrats. She’s pretty and I don’t mind the name Kelly. It’s an unusual name for a rabbit but it may fit her personality once you get her home.

  Kelly is home! =) She weighs 12 lbs. As promised, here as some pictures. She’s a pretty shy girl so I’ll get more pics up in a few days.
  
  Here she is just getting home and still in her carrier. A 38″ dog carrier!

  I love her. In buns is the extra fat under their neck called dewlaps? That’s what we call them in guinea pigs. If so, she has quite an impressive dewlap.

  Yes the extra fat is called a dewlap, likely from a poor diet. But it is normal for female ones to have a small one. I know Amy will take good care of baby

  Thanks LoveChaCha. Yes, she did have a poor diet before she surrendered to the shelter. They were giving her 3 cups of pellets a day. She was used in a junior breeding program and was kept in a pen in a barn with her two daughters. Which she had before she was a year old.
  
  The shelter gave her limited pellets and she’s now at a healthy weight for her body structure. Her dewlap is mostly skin now that hangs from her.
  
  I can’t wait to spoil her and show her what being a house rabbit is all about!

  They wanted me to take a trial run with her first to see how things go with my knee. I don’t think I need it though. I’m already in love with her!

  What a beauty! Those must be loud thumps with feets that big!!! I’m curious as to how long her feet are, they look so gigantic! Congrats to you both, I’m really glad for you.
  
  I don’t mind the name Kelly but to me it just doesn’t suit a big, sweet bunny. All the “Kelly’s” I’ve known are loud and crazy!!!

  Yeah her name doesn’t really suit her but we can’t think of another name right now. It’s the name the rescue gave her the night they got her. And yes those are very loud thumps!

  Ohmygosh! She’s HUGE! LOL I know Flemish giants are big, but you don’t really know until it puts into perspective. She’s so adorable! And she doesn’t look like she minds being held either.

  My husband loves rabbits. I got lucky that way. He says if I can take care of them I can bring them home, but they get the first “hello” when he comes home from work. He’s just one of those people that doesn’t smile for the camera. He actually takes better pictures that way! lol

  My husband won’t smile either. I knew she was big but being in your husband’s arms she looks even larger than I thought. I would love to have a very large rabbit like that. I like the name Kelsey and it’s not too different sounding from Kelly.

  awwww.congrats! My new boy is 11 lbs! My other is 7. I love the large rabbits. I am struggling with bonding them right now and because of their size, a bit of a challenge. What a beautiful girl! bet you must be so excited!

  I’ve been thinking about Autumn but I also like Abigail and Annabelle. Annabelle seems to be a popular name though. My older daughter likes Angel and my younger daughter likes Boing Boing.

  My parents have an English Setter named Annabelle, so I’m partial to that. But we also had another setter named Calamity Jane (we called her CJ though of course Calamity Jane would be a mouthfull) and I think that would be an awesome name for a bunny, especially one with some attitude. I’d probably just end up calling her Big Mama all the time, lol. Of course in that vein if you’re a fan of the original Big Mama, Willie Mae would be a cute name. We had a bunny when I was kid and I wanted to name him Angel! I think it’s a little girl thing, he ended up being Benjamin though. After someone posted on the saint Melangell, that would be a cute name for a bunny, with Angel for short.

  Kelly could be short for Celtic.
  
  You could go against type and call her Tiny or Teensy or Baby or Babe. It might make her feel good.
