› Forum › THE LOUNGE › WELCOME ! › WELCOME THREAD – FEBRUARY 2018 (February Newbies post here!)
We are trying something new! We love our brand new members, but we may not always be able to get to every post to reply. So it was suggested that we create a thread each month so that everyone can be welcomed-can welcome several new people at a time! That way no one is left out, by their little lonesome, in a single post if the forum mods and members could not get to all the welcome posts. You are important to us.
Plus, this also may make it easier for us to refer back to a new members post if we want to. (Instead of it getting lost down to the next few pages as more posts push everything down)
It’s worth a try — let’s see how it goes.
Welcome to The BinkyBunny “House Rabbit” Forums! We are happy you decided to join us!
NOTE: You don’t have to be a brand new newbie to post here. If you haven’t introduced yourself or you introduced yourself elsewhere before with questions, then just repost here so we can get to know you again.
Be sure to stop by the Forum Rules & Guidelines to understand the tone and culture of our community.
Please post a little something about yourself and/OR, at the the very least , about your rabbit(s). This makes it easier for us to recognize you and be of help when you post comments and questions in the rest of the forum.
Rabbit Info:
We’d also love to know more about you, (but it’s okay if you’d rather just stick to info about your bunnies).
Do not give out personal identifying info, like full name, address, email, ph# etc

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS : To prevent posts from getting sidetracked with questions that should be posted in other forums, please use this section ONLY for Introductions and Welcome greetings. If you have any further questions or comments regarding rabbit care or more “loungy” stuff, please post in the appropriate forum.
We will also be moving some posts TO and FROM this section as we feel appropriate.
Helloworld!!
Yay! Welcome thread!
I look forward to meeting everybunny.
Hello! I joined a couple weeks ago so I guess I am still considered new.
I am a new rabbit owner and currently own only one rabbit her name is Caroline she is a Netherland Dwarf mix.(My avatar is a picture of her.)
She is 3-4 years old, I am working on confirming her exact birth date today actually.
I have had Caroline for 2 weeks now.
Caroline is Spayed.
Caroline in a couple words is feisty, sweet and lazy. Sure she is scared when she first meets you but then she warms up to you and is cuddly when resting. She also loves to lie down next to me. (always when I am either ordering rabbit supplies or on Binky bunny for some reason.)
I am not sure how to upload a picture yet so if you want to see her, look at my avatar.
Now about me, I am new to rabbits and this is my pet other than chickens and fish.
I chose a bunny because I was looking for a animal that had a lot of personality and could make a great roommate for me.
I like to draw and one day want to become a part time animator that makes their own art, comics and maybe start and animation Youtube Channel. ]
I am basically your regular rabbit enthusiast who owns a rabbit.
I hope to meet you all soon, thanks for reading!
Hi EatSleepBunny! That’s awesome that she is comfortable around you already .
Yeah, I try and do everything together with her. I eat with her (I usually eat celery and lettuce when I give her some), I like to play with her and she is always my number 1 thing to get to when I come home. I love her so much and she loves me. (I can tell because of all the grooming she has done on me and how she follows me.)
If EatSleepBunny becomes to much for you to say, you can call me Caroline (I talk about her so much my friends have been giving me that nickname 🙂
Welcome! Caroline is so cute! Does she have blue eyes? I’m assuming her blaze is a Vienna mark.
No, her eyes are a very dark brown and yes her blaze is a Vienna mark. She is actually lying next to me as I type this. I will try and get a picture but my camera has not been working for a while.
This is a picture with her and the previous owners. (that is not my hand, not that there is any thing wrong with that hand)
I fixed your picture. You were almost there, you just didn’t get it inserted into your post after you uploaded it.
She’s beautiful!
Welcome Caroline-bun! Oh those ears…are…so….squee!!
We have another member whose bunny, Lily, could be Carolines twin!
She is absolutely gorgeous!!
Welcome Caroline, I’m relatively new too *waves* I’ve also got a solo bun “roommate” so I totally understand where you’re coming from!
Thank You, Your bunnies are also very cute, Maybe I will get to meet Lily’s owner!
Hi, I’m new to the boards, and have three buns. James, Chewy, Minnie. All three are rescue buns, all are neutered/spayed. James is a Dutch mix (any clues what other breed going by his picture?), 6 or so, really into his sleep and hay. He is solo for now as we were unable to bond a trio, but I hope to either bond him with the others in the future or find a friend for him. James is very people-friendly and loving. He’s a free-roam bun and loves to hang out on the sofa with us and the cat.
Chewy is 3, a Silver Fox, really just a big goof with so much personality. He’s so affectionate and a bit of a drama queen. I love his bunny kisses so much. He’s shedding like crazy right now and doesn’t stay too still for photos..Here he is:
Minnie is 11 months, not sure what she’s a mix of. She’s very sweet and shy – she lives in a pair with Chew (though recently they’ve been having problems, sigh). She’s a nice little lady and has fabulous big ears. Here’s little Minn soon after we got her home:
Welcome, JMC! (Does that by any chance stand for James Chewy Minnie? ) your little Minnie has similar markings to my bunny too! They all seem like they have so much character. Such cute buns!
Haha yes, as you can see I am not creative at choosing usernames! Thank you, I do love her markings, she has some pretty colors. Your bun looks so cute in your user pic!
Cute bunnies!
Welcome to you ALL !!!! What a brilliant idea, a Welcome thread !!!
James’s nose is just lovely, he looks as if he has been dipped in cream !
Welcome to BinkyBunny EatSleepBunny and JMC!!!! I love both of your guys’ bunnies! Adorable!
Hi!
My rabbit’s names are Marshmallow and Bella. Bella is about three years old and Marshmallow is two months old. I’ve had Bella for a year and Marshmallow for only three days (hence I need help bonding the two. pls check out my topic). Bella is spayed but Mallow is too young to be spayed. Bella is passive and only cares about food and sleeping. She always lies down during exercise time. Mallow is active and affectionate. She likes to dig, chew and got comfortable with me really fast. She started licking me after the first day.
Hi JMC! Lovely trio .
Hi Bellathebunny! Grooms after day one?! What a lucky hoomin .
Nice to meet you! You sound like you have very great bunnies! Do you by any chance have pictures to share?
Welcome everyone! Please post as much as you’d like!
@Bella – you have some replies on your bonding topic! I did not know Bella’s spay status when writing my response, but it’s good to know she’s spayed

So cute that your bunny licks you! Squeee!!!
Hi guys!
I am a new rabbit owner, and I’ve been searching for a place that I can ask questions and I’ve finally found it! I have 2 baby bunnies that my husband got me because he knew I had wanted one for years now. Both are females, named Nibbler and Georgie, hence the display name haha My vet estimated
Nibbler to be about 3 1/2 months old, she came from a pet store so we don’t know exactly how old she is or what breed she is. But she sure is cute and crazy. At first she was very wary of humans, but now she uses me as a jungle gym. Georgie is a 2 1/2 month old blue dutch rabbit that is from a breeder. She was much more socialized when we got her and from the beginning has loved pets and she’ll jump up in your lap and flop over and take a nap. Neither are spayed, yet, they will be when they’re old enough. If I had been the one to get them, I would’ve gone through a rescue so I wouldn’t have to worry about the spays, but I wouldn’t change the ones he got me.
Hi and very welcome Nibbler&Georgie! We love rabbit questions here! It sounds like your two are very happy little buns =)
Welcome Nibbler&Georgie! Blue dutches are very pretty, I can’t wait to see pics!
Welcome nice to meet you!
Hello everybunny! I’m Rio and I’ve been a bunny mama/slave for nearly 7 years now. I’ve always clicked on BinkyBunny first whenever I googled a question, so I’m excited to finally be a part of the community. Here are my babies:
This is Desmond James, my little panda bun. He was my first bunny, found in my backyard just a few days after Christmas in 2011, and passed away just a few days after Christmas in 2017 at around 8 years of age. He had chronic health problems and I try to tell myself how lucky I was to have him for as long as I did, since I still miss him very much. His favorite treat was banana, but he would stomp his foot at me whenever I had any kind of fruit until I gave him a little! He always tried to act tough and independent but secretly loved snuggles and kisses. He taught me so much about bunnies and I’m forever grateful to have had him in my life.
Here is Quincy, the spooky shadow and destroyer of cardboard castles. I found her next to a busy highway in October 2016, she is spayed and thought to be around 2 years old. She spooks very easily but loves to be pet and groomed on her terms. The picture is terrible quality because she doesn’t stay still for very long, so I’ve yet to get a good one of her!
This is my newest rescue, Leonora or Nora for short. After Desmond passed I vowed to never get another bunny again, but well… here I am. She was found dumped outside and I adopted her in the hopes that her and Quin will become best friends. I was actually told she was male when I got her, so you can imagine my surprise when the vet told me otherwise. She is around 10 months old and very big on attention, and will thump her foot at you the second you stop petting her, but she also loves to return the favor with lots of licks. Nora just got spayed today, so here’s to a speedy recovery!
Welcome N&B!! Such exciting additions to the family. Never hesitate to ask questions and post about your own experienced on other people’s topics! Wick is a breeder bunny, so I understand your sentiment about preferring adoption, but we have the babies we have, and they are just gems, aren’t they? But also , you have double trouble with two, haha. Best of luck as the four of you develop a great trust relationship.
Welcome R&B! What amazing stories. It’s very clear you are a considerate human being and rabbit lover. I’m sure Desmond is binkying on the other side, constantly remembering how loved he was and still is. If you look at Wick’s Instagram, I can only snag photos when he’s munching on hay or lounging in his usual spots at specific day times, so I definitely get the struggle for good photos, haha! I hope Nora a speedy recovery!

So on Monday I got a mini rex bunny from a pet store…I know they have a bad reputation but I basically fell in love with him right away!I did not want someone else to get him first but did not have the funds to get him right then because I had been planning on someone else buying me a pet(the lady I live with, sort of a late christmas gift I think) and I getting supplies but the person doing that said they wouldn’t until Friday.I managed to be able to come in and get him the next day!I named him Levi and he started sneezing and stuff so I kept an eye on him having heard to watch for discharge with that and one day felt I HAD to take him to the vet and could not wait til the weekend when I knew I had a ride( I can’t drive).Levi has a respiratory infection and gets antibiotics and probiotics twice a day.I was told that he was born November 29th and is about 2 months old but I am not for sure he is.He isn’t neutered but i’m making plans to try and be able to afford it.He is super sweet, friendly and affectionate, and his favorite treat for a nice snack is celery! The first day I met him he hugged my arm and nibbled my sleeve and was kissing all over me he is just a love bug.I wanted a rabbit because I don’t have family anymore and have some anxiety issues and so sometimes I get anxious or lonely and needed a new little family member to love on and take care of that would also keep me company.I have a small amount of experience with bunnies because my family that I used to have bred Jersey woolys on a small scale.I’m not interested in breeding of course, but I did learn such things as keeping them brushed and stuff like that from it.I am 19 and like to draw and have always loved animals, sometimes even more than people!(I’m not sure I did the pictures right but if I didn’t the links should work)
I even found the video of when I first met him-although I may have seem him a different day I was there just exploring. The video is here https://photos.app.goo.gl/3KYpmoyVkIhzBxLp1
Welcome again! I hope Levi has a swift recovery. Try and administer the antibiotics as close to 12hrs as possible, so 7am and 7pm for example. This makes sure it’s always in his body. The probiotic should be given after the antibiotic, but wait one to two hours, or the antibiotic will nullify the probiotic! Wick went through a very pesky URI, so it’s a topic I have a lot of experience with. It’s good that your vet also did a penicillin shot.
Feel free to ask any questions, ask for advice, recommendations, etc!

Thanks Wick! Your baby is super cute, I just love the little white spot on his nose. It seems extra hard getting pictures of black bunnies too because their brown eyes are hidden in low lighting, haha. Quin just looks like a black blob in pretty much every picture I take of her.
Rioandbuns its all about the lighting and angle I’ve found.Had several pics that didn’t work, gotta find that sparkle in his eye(Levi isn’t all black or even mostly black but because of the black eyeliner like markings around his eye I have trouble with photos sometimes, his eyes look like black pits!)
Thank you, Wick!
Y’all can call me Rio if you want – shorter and quicker to type.
Levilovescelery – Yes the black rings also make it so difficult lol. The pic I posted of Desmond was one of the best I got from the 6 years of having him, and it’s not even great but at least you can see he has eyeballs. I’ll have to put her on my patio some day and whip out the non-phone camera to get a shot of those beautiful browns. Your boy is very handsome!
Hi and welcome, Rio! My Bam has an ikea bed too =)
Levilovescelery: I fixed your pix, I don’t know what went wrong when you did them. After uploading you should press Insert image. But it looked you had done that, so I don’t know what the problem was. Anyway they’re up now. Bunny nose kisses are the best =)
Hello everyone! This tread is such a great idea
Welcome Rio and Levi, Nibbler and Georgie and everyone else who posted earlier! Your buns are adorable and rescue stories make my day. I also share your pain, it is sooo hard to get a good picture of black buns! On top of it, Thor is a black lop so she doesn’t even have distinctive bunny ears. Without perfect lighting she just looks like a black bean all the time
Aaah… nothing like snuggling in a blanket with a Netherland Dwarf while drinking hot cocoa and posting on Binky bunny. I wish the camera on my laptop will start working, I am going to get it fixed so I can share more pictures. For now I guess I will just wait for my chewy.com package full of pellets and timothy hay treats to get here.
Rio thanks haha I lile to say Levi has better eyeliner than I do! And your bunnies are so cute!
Thank you bam!!!!And yes bunny kisses are the best
ThorBunny haha if you bundle her up for a nail trim is she a black bean burrito?
Hello to all !!!
Levi, so sorry it seems like you’ve had a rough ride, but theres no better medication than caring for another living soul. And he is cute too !!!
Mine can’t have an ikea doll bed. They would have to have a real child size one !!!
Welcome ! Welcome ALL !!!
Hey Everyone, sorry to hear about Levi. Hope his cute little self gets better.
Also I think this might be Me and Caroline’s 100th post so if it i then yay to me and Caroline for posting on binky bunny 100 times. If this is not our 100th post and I am just bad at counting then oh well….
Wait, I just checked and this is our 100th post! Yesssssss!!!!!!
I feel so cool!!!
Thank you Bam, Thor, and Vienna! I can’t help but laugh at all of our black bunny photo taking troubles.
Ikea has probably made more money from people buying those doll beds for their furbabies rather than what they were actually made for.
Thanks Vienna Blue in France and EatSleepBunny,I hope he does too.Seeing the vet again Saturday hopefully and will give an update on Levi.Maybe I should look into this Ikea thing?

Hi! Can’t believe I’m joining a rabbit forum, but I figured it would be the best way to get information, since it seems like a lot of websites are old links, down, hard to get to, etc.
I don’t have a rabbit yet, but I have my eye on one that we may adopt. He is a I think sable point holland lop, about a year old, not neutered yet, and the current owner says he is sweet, but we have yet to meet him, so we don’t know what his personality is like yet.
Rabbits have always been one of my favorite animals, and they’re adorable, so that’s part of why I want a rabbit companion. It’s also very comforting to have an animal around. This would be our first attempt at a house rabbit, and sorry but we have a new house and we want to keep it as clean as possible. I had a rabbit when I was a child but it lived in the garden and mainly bonded with my dad who loved to garden.
We have a lot of questions about housing, cleaning, and litter box training. I’d like to try to make a NIC cube house, but I am not that handy. A lot of the ones I see online are pretty fancy! Also I’d like to be able to go inside it to clean. Some seem like it would be impossible to do. I’m also looking into flooring options to protect our carpet.
Nic cubes are the best for indoors if your bunnies wont be freeroam.
I have a post somewhere of how i made mine!
If you click on my avatar and look at my threads started, there shouldn’t be toooo many to choose from… it helps to be a bit diy handy or have someone else on hand.
There are a few vids on YouTube too.
It needs a roof, as bunnies jump (unlike guinea pigs which a lot of people use nic grids for).
Lino is good for wiping up spills but much too slippy to not have something else to grip on to. Mine have mats, the edges of which are protected by wooden slats.
Oops – ive spammed the welcome thread.
Hi, Everyone, and Welcome!
I may be one of the oldest bunny slaves here, since I found BinkyBunny in January, 2008, I think. It’s been so helpful to me ever since. I am still learning new stuff, and getting advice from our members. I am a Forum Leader, but mostly on occasion now – I pop in and out now and then. You’ll find me more on the BB facebook page.
Spike, my bunny, wanted me to say that he really likes the Ikea beds and would love to have one.
He is a very sweet bunny, who pushes me around now and is quite spoiled. But he snuggles and binkies on the couch with me every morning, so who am I to complain?
Rabbitpam
Nibbler&Georgie, Rio and Buns, Levilovescelery, Frosty… Welcome to BB! Your bunnies look (and sound) adorable!
Welcome, Frosty I hope your adoption goes smoothly! I have just adopted a new rabbit so I know how it feels!
It might only be for a month or two but here’s the newest addition to the family, Spaghetti.
She was an Easter dump who miraculously survived on her own for 6 months before getting rescued. Unfortunately she is having issues at the shelter so I was asked to foster her for a month or two to get her used to being with humans again.
So cute!!!!!
OMG, she’s beautiful!
Hi everyone!
My name is Elise and my little bunny’s name is Stella. She is a 5 month old Lionhead with a sweet, but sometimes feisty personality! I’ve had her for about 3 months now and I’m planning on getting her spayed once she is 6 months old. Stella is the first rabbit I’ve ever had and I’m so happy I made the choice to get her! She has a lot of energy, so there is never a dull moment! I have a few questions about her behavior, which is what lead me to joining Binky Bunny, but I’ll post those questions in the behavior section.
Thanks you guys!
Welcome to BB! Stella is darling!
Welcome!!!! Also your bunny is very beautiful! I love her markings! I will look out for that behavioral forum you mentioned.
Welcome, Stella and Elise! Stella is so fluffy! I can just imagine how soft she must be =)
Hi all! I’m new here so here’s some background on my little bun army.
I adopted Wilson about 3.5 years ago. He lived with me as a solo bunny up until this past month. He is a 4.5 lb mini lop who was owner surrendered after he broke his femur. My understanding is that he was purchased to be a show rabbit, but lost his value after the break occurred. He was taken in by a local vet who worked on him, and was then put up for adoption. He’s the funniest little guy, likes his humans and head rubs, as well as any kind of produce. He was fixed before I adopted him.
Diane is a 1-2 y/o 3.5 lb American Fuzzy Lop. She was taken from a hoarding/abuse situation. Her ears are all torn up, likely from a previous mate. She is rather skittish and isn’t a fan of being pet on her back or sides, but still gets mad if you don’t pet her. We’ve taken to calling her a little princess. She was fixed earlier this month, and I’ve had her a few days.
Poe is a 1 y/o 3.5 lb blue mini Rex. He was owner surrendered due to landlord issues. He’s a little troublemaker, but likes cuddles and exploring. He was fixed a few months ago and has been with me as long as Diane.
I owned rabbits as a kid but didn’t have nearly the amount of knowledge that I have gained in the last 3-4 years. I’m 100% a bunny slave, but I don’t mind it at all! I’m working on adding some photos and will include them soon!
Hi Stella.
Hi Casey.
WELCOME !!!!!!
Welcome welcome late February members! BB is happy to have you!

Hello!
My baby’s name is Killian Marcus Jones, but we call “Butt Butt” due to some sort of reason. He’s been with us for two years now and we consider him special since he was born February 29. He’s neutered. Killian is a very sweet, attention seeker baby yet he is a very lazy one. He likes to kiss a lot. He is also a very picky eater and only eats his pellets if it is crushed, and his veggies and fruits has to be sliced. We do spoil him a lot but he deserves it with all his cuteness and fluffiness.
Hi Caseyp, Wilson, Diane and Poe!
Hi Killian_29, and Killian aka Butt Butt!
Finally figured out how to upload photos! This is Poe:
This is Diane:
And this is Wilson!
Awwwww. My heart just melts looking at them.I can not decide which is cutest. Are they a bonded trio caseyp?
We attempted to bond them as a trio for several weeks, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. Due to aggression issues we brought Poe back to the adoption agency and are sure he will find a great home as a solo bunny. Diane and Wilson are doing pretty well as a duo, though I think Wilson has been a bachelor so long he’s not quite sure what to do with a new lady bun!
Thanks for the add, I will need all the help I can get, due to my 3 year old grand daughter talked me into getting her a bunny we keep at my house..!st mistake I see is my bunny is to young evidently (7-weeks).But I am determined to have a healthy baby so I have alot of reading to do.(Baby Thumper ) came home with us about four days ago and first thing I noticed was not drinking out of water bottle. So I have been slowly hand squeezing the water out of the bottle while it drinks at least five times a day if not more trying to get it use to the water bottle.Bowls get dumped .The next thing I noticed is it does not eat any pellets yet and mostly the grassy parts of the alfalfa leaving alot of stems. So I will be doing alot of reading in here, and will appreaciate any and all help. Thanks Kim
Hi, Kimberly. Welcome to BB. Since we are now in our March Welcome Thread, I’ll copy and past this for you into that Thread for you.
