I wanted to thank everyone on this forum for helping me through my tremendous loss last month. It was nice to have a network of people who understood what I was going through. After lots of crying, I finally started to feel better. I will always miss Bunny, but I decided she would have wanted us to rescue another rabbit.

So, we looked online and found Rex at a shelter an hour away. He is a Rex/dwarf mix and is about 4.5 pounds. He’s very lovey, but won’t let us hold him. I’m hopeful he’ll come around! He’s about 2 years old and is fixed. Any ideas for how to help him bond with us? I’m used to a cuddle rabbit, so this is different. He loves to binky around his bedroom and is very curious. We’ve had him for about 2 weeks now. He likes us, but we can’t wait for him to love us as much as we love him already!

The easiest way I have found to do it is with the “Bunny ignore”.  Just lie down in his room and read a book – something with flippy pages.  He’ll come over to investigate.  Don’t do anything when he does, don’t reach out to pet him or move or change your routine.  Await the nose bump from him and then you can try to pet him.

It’s the best way to get there with a rabbit.

My husband is heading in there to try that right now! Sounds like a great idea, thanks!

It is a great idea to do the bunny ignore lol!

It may take a bunny a while to get used to you. My bunny likes to get my attention by stomping at me, or jumping onto the single couch and waiting for me to come and pet her. She is such a diva

I still do the bunny ignore – it’s great for spending time with less-affectionate buns. Looking forward to meeting Rex!
