Weird clumps of fur stuck together…

My rabbit, Thumper, is the first I have ever had. I make sure he has plenty of hay, water, thingies to chew on, and all the kinda stuff. I noticed he started getting weird clumps of fur stuck together, generally near his mouth. It started as small pieces that were generally easy to brush out, but they’ve been getting worse. There newest one is a large piece of clear white… thing that I can’t brush out, and don’t want to even try cutting in fear he’ll be hurt. There’s smaller pieces mixed in, but it’s just more of the kind that can be carefully brushed out. 

It’s probably worth pointing out Thumper shares a cage with my guinea pig, Benjamin. I’ve been caring for guinea pigs for about six years (not in a row), so I’m sort of sure it isn’t something wrong with the guinea pig affecting him. I do have vitamin drops in the water for both bottles so the guinea pig gets enough, could this be what’s causing the sticky fur??? It’s really bothering him since he’s always trying to wash his face, and I really don’t want to risk hurting him by trying to figure out what it could be by myself. I’m terrified that he’s suffering from something… I don’t want him to suffer. He’s a good little bun-bun.

Rabbits should never be housed with guinea pigs. They need different foods and if rabbits get too many vitamins, they can become sick. They dont need nearly as many as guinea pigs do. If hes eating the guinea pig food and drinking the same water, he could become sick rather quickly. It could also aid in him dieing earlier than hes supposed to because of how unhealthy it is for a rabbit. Rabbits also do not drool like dogs do, so if hes drooling for more than a few hours he needs to see a vet asap. If its been like this for a few days, he might need to see an emergency vet.

Rabbits also create bonds by mounting which can severely hurt a guinea pig as their bodies are much different. Rabbits also have powerful hind legs which can break a guinea pig.

Well that isn’t good… and unfortunately I don’t entirely have enough to buy a second cage big enough for the needs of the guinea pig. :/ I do have two separate bowls for their food though… But it doesn’t seem like he drools at all really… and I don’t see Thumper really care much for the guinea pig. He really just minds his own business. Anyway. I can try to get a new cage…
