When I went to louisiana i was very stressed and didn’t eat much. went from size 22 to a 16. Came back home to florida. Was a size 14. Got rid of all my big pants left them behind in Louisiana.
We have once a week a rumba class on thursdays. It is so fun. When we would raise our arms my size 14 would slide down some. I would pull them back on.
Went shopping last week. I tried on size 12 misses and 13 junior just to see. They fit. I bought them and put the 14’s aside. I am so happy.
Has anyone else lost some weight lately?![]()
Congrats on your weight loss! I haven’t lost weight recently but I wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss. Its a great achievement. I have ovarian cysts that have caused me to gain weight over the years, but worse it makes it hard for me to loose weight I have to work hard to keep it off. I use to weigh around 138 and I had gotten a new cyst a year ago and I have put on almost 20 pounds since I got it. I am currently a sized 12 to 14.
I did Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire for 4 years and loved that. I got the dvds from Beachbody. It was fun exercise until I just did it so much I got bored with it. I love to walk the mostly but do different types of exercise to mix things up.
Again congratulations!
Congratulations! That’s great :~) I haven’t but I sure need to and I need to get motivated to exercise.
No, not really, but I should get in shape. ![]()
Congrats though! ![]()
I went the other way, but I think my thyroid is acting up again.
It also doesn’t help that I don’t have my coconut milk or all my fresh fruit. I’m still waiting for my household goods to show up from the move, and the fridge I have now freezes everything. ![]()
Congrats to you though. ![]()
I was (not anymore) at the other extreme from when I was a teenager till I hit my late 30’s – I was a (Aussie) size 6. I HATED it! Back then you couldn’t buy size 6, and not knowing how to sew, I had to pay again to get everything altered otherwise clothes would just hang off me and made me look worse. Larger sized people used to say “I wish”! and I thought how lucky they were to be able to buy clothes that fitted and resented them – how SILLY we all are. Frustration for whatever reason at both ends. Now I’m a size 10 – not sure if it is my age or giving up work? My daughter is the same, but how lucky is she – I see most retail stores now cater for size 6 like they do the larger sizes (just so disappointed I missed out). I never exercise deliberately and I eat like a piggy, so never chose to be so small – I even went to my doctor once and asked how to put on weight? He laughed at me (not impressed) and said to come back and see him when I was 30. He obviously knew something I didn’t at the time and really struggled.
So good for you BT for losing weight as it makes you happy and I hope you feel better for it. Me? I never want to be that small again – even though they are making nice clothes in size 6 now, it’s all for the young, out & about girls – not for me! Cheers bunnytowne.
Thank you everyone. As you know losing weight is not easy. After my 2nd back surgery I just gave up. Takes a long time to heal from 1-3 years. The first surgery I exercised like crazy thinking I was healed. I exercised myself into a 2nd surgery.
That was about 10 years ago or so.
I used to be size 3 til I turned 30. In my 40s I packed it on. I was exercising belly dance then the knee surgery 3 years ago thereabouts. I quit exercising to let it heal. Then I just haven’t gotten back into it. I sure miss my 3 wheeled bike. It wasn’t good for my back n knee either tho.
Oh And Henri I didn’t have a hard time finding size 3′. Today tho it is all geared to the young 20’s and teens like you said. Not my style. hahaha We have a new store across the street. The pants are nice and loose at the ankle all cotton I love them. So comfortable. However the tops no no no. Geared towards teens and 20’s. Like you said. I have to come up with tops for the pants somewhere else. With my breasts they won’t fit.
The rumba is fun to do. I need to get back into my belly dancing. Go to the slow baby steps one to start then onto the more advanced one where I was before knee surgery.
Oh I agree BT – having to, or wanting to lose weight would not be easy. I couldn’t imagine how I would cope if I had to watch what I ate, or HAD to exercise – why I admire you – especially after your injury and surgeries. And I also couldn’t imagine what it must have been like to have to give up a lot of what you love because of it. I have nothing but respect for you regardless of your size cause you are a wonderful person (I have come to adore you on BB) and especially for all that you have endured. I love that your feeling better and are happier – no one deserves it more.
We have more in common than bunnies…. LOL! I put my weight on when I hit my 40’s too (but I don’t have an excuse
). AND I found some lovely pants – super comfy (elastic waste – LOL!) and yet look really good on! They sit/flow ever so nicely, and were only $15 each – bargain! Like you, I’m having problems finding nice tops to go with them. Everything nice seems to be catered for the young
? Oh, and I don’t have the large booby problem – though I’m sure my hubby wished I did!
ha ha!
You go the rumba and belly dancing BT – I’ll stick to my 80’s dance moves, I’m sure they must do the same job for exercise???? ha ha hah….![]()
Kate, and Henri thats so sweet thank you. ![]()
We have a lady come thursdays to do Rumba its so fun. I wish she could come 2x a week. I will start the easy belly dance and work my way up. Its nice to have hiney muscles hahaha. I wish you lived nearby ![]()
I can remember long long ago in my 20’s being a size 2! I can even remembet having a 19 inch waist! I ballooned when I was pregnant with my son (his hormones didn’t like my hormones). I lost 20 lbs back in 2000 when my father was sick — he had esophageal cancer from reflux and could only keep liquids down (kinda hard to think about food when he couldn’t eat). The lbs came back on me after he passed.
Even tho my son will be 20 on the 19th, I still claim I’m trying to lose the baby weight! Maybe it’s actually muscle from going up and down stairs 50 times a day and chasing bunnies! That’s OK, at my age I don’t need to be in a bikini anyway!
I feel the same way as you all about clothes. AH – beyond 40, elastic waist and “mom jeans” are the way to go! Tops are another story. No one needs to see my belly button! Give me loose fitting tops so I can have lots of air circulation when a hot flash hits!
ETA: I must have Bunnytowne’s phone –what are those weird changes my phone is making to what I type?! Hopefully I fixed them all! O
I’m in rather the same boat as Andi. I eat like a pig, and although I am an active person I don’t intentionally exercise. Shopping for pants is so hard, any that are long enough for my legs are twice the size of my waist! :/
Congratulations! That is such a great difference! I had just been thinking about making a weight loss thread, but when I did that before on another forum it did not get much reaction (probably because it was a betta fish forum, and many people on there are around 12-16 and hopefully don’t have problems). I used to do bellydance too, it was so much fun!
I had my thyroid removed due to thyroid cancer when I was 19, and put on about 60 pounds after that while trying to deal with depression and adjusting the medication. I am 6ft tall, but 60 lbs is a lot for anyone. I’m now down about 35 lbs, but I have been plateauing for a long time now, I just can’t get back under 200 lbs. I was a size 18, and we don’t really have money for clothes, but I am fitting into some of my old ones now that are 12-14 depending on the brand. Everything I got while I was bigger is loose on me instead of tight, so that is nice. Not really looking forward to shopping for new clothes anyway, as I will always have trouble finding things long enough, no matter my size. The worst part is the changes in bra sizes, those things are expensive, and I don’t want to buy more until I reach my goal weight. All my old ones are a mixture of too big around and either too big or too small in the cup, and I’m like Goldilocks with my bras.
Overall I am really much happier with my body now. I felt so trapped in that weight, and now I feel like my body can move more, and since I have been working out I am much more flexible that I was even before I gained weight. Flexibility has always been a big thing for me because I grew so fast. I was 6ft tall by the time I was 12 years old. My muscles didn’t stretch out fast enough to keep up, and I didn’t work on my flexibility. Now with diet changes and exercise I always try to remember the saying from the book “Dinotopia” which was something like “eat to live, do not live to eat.”
I could just loosen my belt and my pants would come off. lol. Got tired of that so I got smaller size. I only get 2 pair expecting to lose more weight.
