We might have a house!

Third time’s a charm, right? We put our third offer on a house earlier this week and have arrived at a final price! It’s slightly more than we had hoped to pay, but the house is beautiful, brand new, custom made with high end materials, and perfect for us – hopefully we won’t have to put any money into it for a couple years. It’s in a great neighborhood with houses twice as big, which is a good position to be in. We’re going to schedule the inspection for early next week and hopefully the people don’t drop off the face of the earth like the crazy lady on the last house we put an offer on.

I’m so excited! If everything goes as planned we’ll be closing in early July.

I did wonder what happened to that last house…the owner did seem a little loony based on what you said.

Yeah, she had issues. I understand that she didn’t get her job transfer, but it would’ve been nice if she communicated that with us, instead of disappearing for weeks.

These people seem much more with it and responded quickly to all of our counter offers. I was worried initially because they listed it so high (a year ago they put it on the market for $90k more than we ended up paying for it) – I didn’t think they’d come down as low as we were able to afford, but surprisingly they did. The negotiating was so stressful!

Sounds like they were motivated sellers.

I’m trying to think about where we’ll put the bunnies. Poor Otto requested wall-to-wall carpet but he didn’t get it. Haha. There is a carpeted bonus room on the second floor, so maybe once we get a dog they can live up there (we’ll eventually put a tv and sofa up there too, so we can hang out with them when we’re home). But that’ll be at least a year away.

I’m thinking more about what we’ll do with them when our apartment is being shown. They’re blocking the sliding door to the porch, so I’ll have to figure out how to make their cage a bit smaller so people can get around them. It’s going to be funny if my landlord says no pets on the listing and people walk in to find two sleeping bunnies. haha
