Let me first begin by saying, I absolutely love my bunny! She is the cutest little thing in the world and I spoil her so much! ![]()
Sometimes tho, she makes me want to pull out my hair!
Recently she has pooping like crazy outside of her litterbox, and decided that yesterday she was going to pee on my bed, even though she has never done that the last hundred times she has been on there. So I blocked off the bed, preventing her from getting on there, and what did she do? Thumped at me of course…not once…not twice…but 5 TIMES!!! What a little back-talking stinker she is! haha She also has been chewing my antique books and some of the spines of them are now completely ruined.
Even tho I’m at my wits end trying to keep up with her lately, its amazing what we put up with for the ones we love. Anyone else want to share/vent the things their bun does that drives them bananas, but still love them for it ![]()
(btw I’m not just “ignoring” these behaviors. I’m doing my best to try and adjust them. Its just that its a slow process…)

We all put up with a lot from our bunnies, that’s for sure. Mine are actually really good, but Hannah started chewing on a corner of the rug lately (the nice rug in the living room, not the cheap one in their room) and we found holes she chewed in the couch. They’re trouble makers, but then I’ve had puppies who destroyed so much more than Hannah, so I can’t complain too much.
she’s a diva that’s for sure
I’m not proud of it but I’ve been very frustrated with Bunjamin lately. He keeps outsmarting me (figuring out how to open doors and such) and even though he is trained to wait and will wait 9/10, at night he gets so stubborn and doesn’t care about the treat or the water-bottle and runs out the door to explore and we have to chase him back in bc he will not come near us when he’s out there. It’s really frustrating.
On a different note. He just decided he likes his hay basket I got from BB months ago. So much in fact he’s now sleeping in it:
(he woke up right before I took the pic of course but he’s still sitting in it.)
A diva is putting it lightly…haha
Its like once he “escapes” your room he knows to stay away from you cuz your gonna make him go back and away from this wonderful strange new place with lots of new things to chew!!! He doesn’t want to leave the mystical land beyond the door hahah Molly is like that when she escapes under the bed
Literally while typing this, Molly jumped straight from my floor onto my bed. She used to jump up onto her old cage that I still have sitting at the base of my bed on the floor, then from there she would jump onto my bed. Since she peed on the bed, I blocked it off, so she decideds to skip the extra step and just jumps straight up. I have a queen size bed…thta is a big jump for a little bunny!! She is grounded for not listening lol its Its things like this that are frustrating but funny at the same time ![]()
lol I understand. When Bunjamin learned how to jump on my bed at my parents which is normal height IMO I wasn’t too shocked (although it made the cool barrier i built, useless) but when he learned to jump (without help) our bed thats about 4 ft up for him. I was shocked. I don’t encourage it though because I’ve heard a lot of people on here say there bun pees on the bed. He doesn’t do it yet unless I’m there
we’re all screwed! lol the bunnehs will rule the world
I had something similar happen, Rei, and I guess the escaping like Bunjamin too. Came home from work one night and my two netherlands had escaped their area, found the bed and I think I spent 10-15 minutes cleaning poo pellets off my blankets.. As soon as I thought I was done I’d find several more. >_<
The two also seem to have a thing for wires. We’ve replaced so far: the charging cable for my laptop, as well as my nook, and waccom tablet. 3 headsets for the xbox, one charging cable for the controller. I no longer owe a pair of jeans that don’t have little holes in them, and I’ve lost at least 4 good shirts. There’s also a hole in the couch were one couldn’t quite fit under, so he ripped away part of it so he would fit. Oh, and 3 bathroom towels that they pulled out of the hamper to chew on on separate occasions.
It baffles me because they don’t lack in things to chew on, I’ve built them several cardboard box playhouses, and we never left any of the chords where they could easily reach. It’s amazing how they can become escape artists and reach things we didn’t think was even possible.
Tell me about it, Binx. Since Powder is free roam I stowed all my cables away, I put my nook charger behind my bed, the bed is blocked off with wood paneling so he can’t get under it and the only thing “out” was the part that was plugged into the wall and that was blocked off by one of the legs of the bed. Well… Powder stretched his little head til it fit enough to just grab the nook charger by where it connects at the wall to bite it in half before I could get to him. So much for blocked off. Now theres a baby gate added to the mix, though he’s knocked it over twice, making me have to find new creative ways of putting it back up securely. lol
I think of it this way, when their time comes to go to the rainbow bridge, we will have items to remind us of them and the love they gave! Anything we keep out is our fault hahaha!!
My friends are not shocked to see NIC grids in my bedroom. It comes with having a bunny.
Chacha bun loves pooping outside of her litterbox in my room. It is more like a mother picking up after their kid haha. I don’t mind it at all.
This morning, I got a 7 am wake up call by the diva. She literally jumped on my bed and hopped on my chest.
Oh my goodness these stories are all too familiar haha I finally bought plexiglass to put over my book shelf. Molly can’t understand why she can’t get the books. She’s like “I can see them, so why can’t I get them?!” So the phone book by the bookshelf is now all shredded from her frustration lol
haha to her frustration. Good job for you because that is a success story! lol
I have managed to not have any cords chewed but the protectors on them is another thing. Most of them are protected and put away but once in a while, one will fall and he’s like, “must clear vine for escape route” (I said that in a robot voice). And nothing is off limits really to him anymore with the clearing 4 ft thing. The bed, the desk he’s been everywhere!

So my success is 1, my losses….3. I still have many “battles” to overcome haha
My bun enjoyed chewing up my new computer’s power cord (I have since blocked off all cords). He also like biting holes in my shirts, getting under the couch whenever possible, and jumping on me while I sleep!
I think you’ll be amazed how much this activity decreases after a few weeks post spay.
Mark, depends on the bun – Stickers is months post spay and she still loves to destroy and mark haha
Ditto on the fixing thing… Groucho and Zeppo were neutered a year ago and it’s only been lately and after neutering that they’ve become so destructive!
And Rei, I thought of an idea for that… Creating a box of cardboard around the outlet, taping it to the wall and leaving a hole in the front of it for the cord to come out then putting a wire protector around the cable and partially into the hole so the whole thing is covered from beginning to end. I only question they safety of this due to the fire hazard of cardboard being around the outlet. Then I thought of getting one of those plastic box covers the sell for thermostats (most businesses have them) they’re sold for outlets too, and drilling a hole in that to do the same thing.
It’d be a lot of work but that’s one hell of a way to keep them from chewing on wires!
Found a picture!!! http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM3196674302P?sid=IDx20101019x00001a&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=SPM3196674302  There’s a hole in the bottom already to feed the cord through, you could trim the cord wrap to fit through that hole as well to create a tight seal on it.
cleaning up bunny pills with a bagless vacuum is fun,, watching them zoom round and round in the cannister. its the next closest thing to having your pwn pachinko machine. i think they like dropping a pile of pills where they like to sleep, as they act like ball bearings helping to ease the transition from standing to laying down.
Anyone ever see that book “Shit my kids ruined”? The def. should make a bunny version…lol
As for bud…before he was fixed he sprayed alot…and one time I got down low next to him and well let’s just say he ruined my face. To be honest, I was pretty POd but I was so glad he stopped doing it after his surgery.
He also managed to chew through all of my computer wires after he managed to get out one night. He is such a little stinker!
