Sorry for any typos, I’m typing on my phone. We’re in the midst of a heatwave here, with temps getting well above 90 during the day. So far, my attempts to keep Bonnie cool have seemed successful. She’s eating and even playing a bit despite the sticky, uncomfortable heat. What’s concerning is I don’t believe she’s touched her water bowl the past few days. I see urine in the litter box and her scruff springs back immediately when I pinch it. I’ve been soaking her veggies to try to get her extra hydration. Do I need to force her to drink? I would have thought with the heat she’d be drinking more and I’m getting nervous as more time passes. She has a vet appointment for ear mites tomorrow and I plan on checking in with the vet as well but didn’t know if anyone had an opinion before then.

If it’s very warm and not drinking could cause actual risks of dehydration, then I’ll normally syringe feed it to my bun. Of course you know your bunny best and you’d knowing this is a good idea or not.

If you’ve been giving her very wet veggies, then she might not need extra water from the bowl. If she’s peeing a normal amount, I wouldn’t worry Of course you could always syringe a bit of water but I don’t think it’s necessary.
