Water Bottle or Bowl

Having problem deciding if I should go,back to a water bottle.

I have a water feeder right now. It works awesome. The only problem is, I have to take the roof off the cage and refill it when it’s empty.

What is everyone’s preference and why?

I mean pros and cons.

Water bottle pros:
Outside of cage mostly, easy to refill
Cant get spilled
Doesn’t get random stuff inside it

Bowl pros:
Easier to clean
Cheaper to fill if you use bottled water (unless you don’t fill the water bottle up all the way)

idk, i’ve only ever owned guinea pigs before getting my bun so I’m still learning.
They had water bottles and I found that some bottles would grow gunk on the inside that was almost impossible to clean.
I got Harlow a water dish last week when she was spayed because someone suggested it, and she’s drinking a lot more so she definitely prefers the dish!

I like water bowls and waterbottles. Chomondeley gets both. I agree with Auburnie, water bottles can get algae from the sun on the inside of the bottle and it is difficult to scrape it out. I think that rabbits in general prefer water bowls than bottles.

It’s my experience that rabbits prefer bowls, and that is all I have used for a long time. Be sure to get the heavy crockery bowls so that they can’t be turned over.

Bowl. I use a large ceramic dog bowl for my rabbits. It’s easier to clean, doesn’t grow mould, the rabbits drink more. Occasionally Crysta will get spooked and splash water (it’s heavy, so it doesn’t tip over), but other than that, I’ve found they stay better hydrated, and that’s the primary reason I use a bowl over a bottle.

I absolutely second the heavy crockery bowl-suggestion! Bunnies love flipping over and/or throwing their water bowl.

Bowl, because bunnies in the wild drink from rivers and its something to do with the position while drinking, in the end of water bottles germs can get in there a bit like baby drinking cups, there have been many stories about these cups and the same can happen to animal bottles.

Thanks everyone. I’ll keep the bowl. I have a feeder. Most of the bowl is covered. So nothing big can get in there.
