Well the only thing out of the mind is not having your current buns have a say in the matter   What if they hate Cupid?

ginju loes every bun and atticus doesnt like intact males, he is fixed, but has always had a problem with them….even if ginju isnt with him. its odd and in neutral area where he has never been. are all buns like this?

If atticus hates every bunny except Ginju, i would advise against getting a third.

I would not want to risk messing up the happy couple you have. It’s not worth it.

I have to agree, why risk breaking the bond? Even if kept entirely separate, the mere presence of a third can interfere with how your pair gets along.

Whenever getting a third (4th, 5th…) rabbit, always think about what happens if they don’t get along. Would you be able to house a third separately from the 2 all the time? We ended up keeping our 2nd foster bun, Sandy, and I tried to bond her to my two but Gracie just wouldn’t have it. Archie started getting along with her until he had enough (she wouldn’t groom him) and attacked her. So it didn’t work out but she’s caged separately and is happy. So just give it some thought before getting a 3rd. I also agree with Beka about the bond breaking. I personally don’t have any trouble and they’re caged right next to each other but that’s mine and other rabbits might be different.

Atticus doesnt hate every other rabbit except ginju. I know from the girl I got him from she had a problem with him and the rabbit she had with him once he got fixed but i understood it was more the other bun then atticus. but he does hate intact males, maybe because ginju isnt fixed yet? (my bun vet wanted to wait til she got bigger, she is quite small. She will be getting fixed in 2 months…yay)

And if it doesnt work out and they have to be seperate, that is no problem. I live in a house with 4 bedrooms…alone. It 5000sq feet…im not kidding!!! this house is huge!!!! and i will have them in different parts of the house until the new one and ginju are fixed and do the bonding right in neutral ground once healed…lord knows there will be enough on it! lol

i have always wanted 3 buns and i am in a place where i can finally do it and if it doesnt work out, dont have to worry trying to find a place for the bun if they dont bond. I have 2 empty bedrooms right now and one is definetly going to be a bun room and if they all dont get along, then i have no problem making them both into bun rooms!!

Glad we could help! And glad you have a back up plan if things don’t work out. I’d either wait until ginju is fixed or at least wait to bond them until they’re all fixed and I think you even wait maybe a month because the scent lingers sometimes. If you wait until ginju is fixed then you can take them to see the other bunny and see what they think of it. Good luck!

i was told atticus was fixed at 4 and a half months, ginju is coming to a year but when i wanted to get her fixed at 6 months, oh my she was sooo tiny and my bun vet recommeneded waiting til a year in hopes she would get a fair bit bigger…she didnt get as big as he had hoped but she did get bigger. i cant wait to have her weighted. i think she is either just over 3lbs or just under, she is just a tiny little thing with a tiny build.

i am going to wait until ginju is fixed and has time for her body to rid the hormones of being intact. i want to make sure i give them the best chance possible to bond and all live together. i want to make sure it is done right!!!

Thats odd, they can spay/neuter rats and hamsters, size shouldn’t as much of an issue as age. Is your vet not comfortable with rabbits maybe?

If me, I would focus soley on getting Gingu spayed for now. Bringing an intact rabbit into the home is asking for trouble. Especially with an intact female and a neutered buck that has had problems with other males in the past. Even Atticus and Gingu’s bond could be challenged when she is spayed but is it so important that this be done.

If you have infact brought this rabbit home or plan to bring another, please be very careful. I say this because we hear of it too many times. Rabbits escape enclosures and fight or impregnante an intact Doe.

oh jerseygirl, thank you for advice but i havent found a bun yet, not that im overly looking and if the new bun did get out of its enclousure, it would have to get through 3 doors that are NEVER left open…dogs are boarded here for work and thus why there are soo many doors. to keep the dogs where they are only allowed to be and to keep my cats in their area and the dogs out. i will say it is REALLY irritating when doing laundry or bringing home grocies doors are opened and closed right away and never left open so the dogs cant get out which is the area by and inbetween the space ginju and atticus are, and where the new bun would be. i have put A LOT of thought into this.

my vet is a good vet, and i wanted to wait to get her spayed more for my nerves and my vet said it wouldnt hurt to wait. atticus was done at 4.5 months when he had dropped.
