Ok, first of all, if you have to “convince your mom”, that tells me she probably wouldn’t be too thrilled about having a second rabbit. Does she pay for the rabbit’s expenses (food, litter, vet bills?) Two rabbits are twice the expense. Second, you would need to be sure a second bun was spayed or neutered BEFORE you tried to bond it to your current bun. During the bonding process, rabbits can fight – sometimes very viciously – and hurt eachother – are you prepared to witness that? And they will need separate cages / pens until they bond – do you have the money and space to have another cage, litter box, water bottle toys food etc? And what if they just never bond? Are you ready to have 2 single buns, being let out to play at different times? And bonding buns like to pee and poop ALL OVER THE PLACE to establish territory. How will Mom feel about that? And I don’t know your age (and don’t post it here) but what about college? Is that something you’re considering? Will your Mom take care of buns if you go away? Will you be able to bring 2 buns to school and have enough room for them in a tiny dorm?
Sorry to seem like I’m discouraging you, but I just like young people to have ALL the info before making big decisions… please let us know what you decide.
