Vivians gettin’ up there in the years. Slowin down a little bit, eyes getting a bit cloudy, so it really was time for her check up.  The vet checked her teeth; They looked good!  No spurs, no issues at all.  Whew!

Then the vet did a body check, No lumps or weirdness…Whew!   She then listened with her stethoscope (not sure if she was checking her heart, gut or both or what — I should have asked, but she took awhile).  She said all was fine.

She then did a mobility check for limb soreness, limitations etc:  Just fine!

Eyes are cloudy, but normal sign of aging (not like the white spots that can be a sign of e.cuniculi)…Whew!

But then the vet noticed her breathing was a little different, but she wasn’t sure if it was just Vivian’s reaction to stress or not.  Vivian has always been a bit of a “snorkler”,  she snores and whistles a bit when she sleeps, or when she is stressed at first,  but she’s always been that way, so the vet wasn’t sure and said we can either keep an eye on it and see if it worsens or have a chest x-ray done. Well, after what happened with Jack and his lung cancer, I opted for the chest x-ray. I wanted to know right away.

So I nervously waited.  For the first few minutes of waiting, I sort of felt a slight panic, worried about if we have to endure something similar to what happened with Jack, but then I found myself chatting with another lady in the waiting room and we kept each other distracted.   (as she was dealing with some stuff as well).

Then the vet came out and said the the xrays showed no issues. Lungs and chest  look normal!  BIG BIG WHEW!!!!!!

So for now, we concluded that Vivian is just  a “snorkler” bunny — as she has always been.   Its just part of the way she is made, unless something else comes up.   But for now, I am just celebrating that I seem to have a normal “senior” snorkly bunny.

Glad her checkup went well. Great news just before Christmas.

Bindi is a bit of a loud breather as well. He squeaks and snorts. Always done that.

How old is Miss Vivian now?

                Fantastic!

That’s really an excellent report to have everything OK with her.

(And please tell Miss Vivian that, according to my parents this year I have…ahem…become a snorkler bunny myself. So embarrassing.)

How old is Miss Vivian now?

I am GUESSING around 9 years.
I can’t be 100% sure of her age, because we don’t know her full history. So she could be younger or older (though I would be really surprised if she was older — if anything, I would guess younger).

I honestly can’t remember exactly when I adopted her as I just moved my office and files are everywhere so I can’t double check, but I am thinking it was about three years ago.

At the time I adopted her, SaveABunny gave a rough estimate that she was probably six years old. Her teeth were yellowed at that time which can be indicative of an older bunny (older than 5), but that’s also not reliable. Anyway, she had been with SaveAbunny for 2 years before I adopted her, and before that she was with the Marine Humane Society — they picked her up as a stray on the street.

Though she has slowed down a little bit, she has got it going on in the bunny brain department. Probably the the sharpest bunny I have ever encountered. Once she learns something,(and she learns quickly),  it sticks. And she’s still always curious and investigating, and seems eager to learn something new.  Not that my other bunnies weren’t, but they were more interested in being pet and hanging out, where Vivian does enjoy that too,  but she sort of greets me in a different way like she’s sayin “Hey, what’s up, what’s new, whaddaya know, what can we do?”    (of course, I am totally anthropomorphizing here!)  And part of that may be due to the fact that I try to keep things interesting because she is a solo bunny now, and so that probably has a lot to due with it.

Anyway, blabbed on.   Just soooo glad she is healthy.

I’ve never heard that story before — it’s really cute!

She sounds like such a great bun, even at her age! I love seeing old bunnies in fantastic homes! I have a friend who has decided to only adopt older bunnies that he knows no one will adopt. His last one being an 8-year old Chinchilla. He’s a feisty big one!

Middle aged n older buns need loving homes too.

I am glad Vivian got one and a bill of good health too.   Enjoy her snorkling.  She is a healthy girl
