Well, I’m  not sure who posted this, or where  I read it, but i read it!  Someone mentioned using vinegar to get the caked on urine off the litter box.  I have two buns.  Carmel uses a cat litter tray, and I don’t find that the urine cakes on.  But the corner bunny litterbox that Flopsy uses always gets this caked on urine spots where she goes.  I had tried soaking, scrubbing and could never get it off.  Until… I read to soak in vinegar.  Magical, it came off!! Truly amazing.  So just wanted to pass this tid bit of info on.

        Thanks to whomever posted that!!

i know, that can get tricky to clean off, unless you’re doing a thorough scrubbing every day. fortunately, cat boxes are cheap, so it’s not a big deal to replace every once in awhile.

It’s especially good on ferret litter boxes. Those guys make a ginormous mess out of their boxes. I squirt a 50/50 mixture, let it sit for a couple minutes, and gunk comes right off! Too bad I can’t stand the smell of vinegar. Gives me a headache every blessed day…but at least the boxes are clean.

I don’t remember who told me years ago to use vinegar in litter boxes. I even use vinegar to clean inside the buns NIC cages. That way I know it isn’t harmful to the buns.

I even mop the flooors with vinegar. My husband was looking at me strange the first time I did that. He said I have never seen vinegar used other than on food. Like cucumbers tomatoes pepper and vinegar.  Well it cleans too.

I found baking soda works well too.

Yup I use vinegar all the time.  Just soak the litterbox in vinegar & water.  I have 2 large boxes that I swap out.  That way I always have a clean one as I dump everything daily.

I also think vinegar is awesome. Great for getting out urine stains too in rugs etc. (I use a 50/50 water/vinegar mix)

For extra stubborn urine cakeyness in the litterbox, you can use a bit of apple cider vinegar at full strength. I found it gets rid of stubborn stuff within 60 seconds – powerful! Just be sure to rinse very well.
