We went to the vet last Thursday, just for a checkup.

His incisors aren’t lining up and it appears his top ones have chipped. So my vet spoke with the specialist and a dentist, and for now we are watching-but we might have to look at surgery. He’s eating well-as always-quite the piggy. I’m measuring his teeth with calipers and logging it…

And she gave me some drops for his eye to keep it lubricated because it (the eye with the cataract) looks irritated.

So I wasn’t pleased. The last time he was in you could hardly tell he was an old fart, and now his age is catching up. Then this morning-I freaked. I turned on the lights to say good morning and bring in veggies, and his eye was shut-like stuck shut. I knew it was an infection or something, so I did a warm compress and cleaned it with a cloth while calling the vet. They squeezed him in while I was at work so I had to get my parents to drive him to the vet (Thank goodness they are in town!!!). They did a fluorescein stain and he has an ulcer in his eye  Poor old dude! So we’re doing another kind of drops as well and he’s hating me right now!

Please send vibes if you can!

He is missing his Chuck, and it is a psychosomatic imitation of Chuck’s blind eye.

We forget that Noot is a senior man, and grief can take its toll on us all. He actually may be much healthier after his teeth get worked on, so it could be a good thing for him once taken care of.

I got scared two days ago when Sammy hadn’t eaten her breakfast, and wouldn’t finish a banana slice! By the end of the evening, and more importantly by the end of the next day, I had my bouncy bunny back – with a huge pile of stinky poos. They are self-healing at times, exe but strict attention must be paid. You are quick to treat Noot’s issues, so he is going to be just fine.

It’s a pain when a couple things happen together like this. Hope he still has his spunk and will be right again soon.

Thank you everyone! I will definitely update

@ Pam lol Yes he’s 10/11 now so that’s pretty old!

My vet says she can’t say for sure (she could if it was that he did have vision) but that he likely doesn’t have vision in either eye now. Neither pupil responded to light, she did the scare test (I can’t remember the name…you move your hand quickly towards the eye to see if they blink) and he didn’t respond, but she said that doesn’t mean anything in bunnies, dogs and cats will respond but unless the bunny has experience avoiding hands (like he’s been bonked on the nose) likely they won’t respond. (I belive her, and then tried it on Rupert and Kahlua-neither responded but both can see ) So yes he’s doing a good Chuck immitation. But he’s getting around very well-I really can hardly decide from watching him if he’s totally or mostly blind.

And we’ve been doing nightly snuggles (now more so because of all the torture -erm-eye drops!) and also he’s sort of bonded up with Mikey. Mikey loves visiting in the evening, and Noots been bonking him on the foot and ‘requesting groomies’. They’ll often sit on the couch together if I bring Noot out to watch movies.

Anyways that’s a big Noot update and I’ll keep you all posted on how he’s doing! Thanks all for the vibes!! *HUGS*

Awww thanks all!!! Yes-it’s funny, considering that Rupert and Kahlua SHOULD be good friends with other like minded individuals (hay eatin bunns) and yet my dog (who wanted nothing more then to chase and bite bunny bum when he first came home) is the gentle soul who is making friends with Noot

Noot seems to be doing well with his slurry and preferring it to kibbles (slurry is critical care, ground pellets, ground berries and oats) and eating well-poops look great….Recheck Monday-will let you all know how that goes.

May be a stray pregnant dog accompanying us for recheck….found her on the side of the highway today-almost had a hernia/heart attack trying to get her into my car (she was fearful and darting through traffic-ohhhhh my heart is racing thinking about it) but I got her in and she’s home with me now…I’m thinking given her condition no one will claim her….so vet for her monday as well likely… :p oh man-I can only laugh about this!

Gawd…Jers…..Eh….I don’t know if she is just full of worms and has had puppies in the past (multi pregger dogs have droopy boobies), or is going to spew puppies tonight in my bathroom (her current abode given that our house is full of renovation material not safe for unknown doggies).

If I don’t find an owner by Monday she’ll see my vet so we can see what is going on (She’s huge, and a doggy pamela anderson….) from what I’ve read online-she is preggo.

From her teeth-less then a year old. But I’m not a vet.

If I do find an owner who has not been missing her for more then an month then I’ll be sending pictures to the police and animal control becasue she is criminally skinny=yes preggo’s need more calories but no reason for her whole spine, ribs and hips to be showing-unless she’s been lost for a while. So if it’s not been a while, someone is getting reported. But understandable condition if she’s been on her own for a long time.

Poor thing. She’s eating and drinking well though and I’m so proud of both her and Mikey for not barking at doorways at each other. It’s like she’s not here-they are just being good.

Bah Noot and pregger dog story to be continued

Good grief, K&K. You have animal adventures! She is very lucky, and maybe you will be delivering puppies instead of candy on Halloween. Hope all goes well. A dog in poor condition makes me think I’d rather the owner did not claim her. Let’s hope she doesn’t deliver until after she’s at the vet.

Can she eat more while with you? I’m sure Mikey will share his food. He is being a super caring boy this week as it is.

A dog in poor condition makes me think I’d rather the owner did not claim her.

                                                    Here here!!! Amen!!!

We have to go through the motions for legality-I’ve done everything I can-facebook, kijiji, petlynx, pound notified, rcmp notified, all vets in the area sent her picture, info and mine, gone door to door in the area and left posters with everyone who answered their door (oh man do I have some stories about farmers and their crazy dogs lol!!!) and put up posters in the little towns near where I found her, had her vet checked and for microchip and tattoos. Done due diligence, and more so.

By Tuesday her four day period (what the pound observes before euthanasia for unlicensed dogs; they give 11 days for licensed dogs….) is over and I can legally find her a new home. It’s a blessing, though so much work, whoever owned her was not good-given her condition (no ID whatsoever, preggo and lost) so she’ll be better off. Not that I’m considering keeping her or anything silly like that

Sadly I’m hugely relieved to have not found an owner, because animal laws are not great and to try to get the police onboard if she was missing only a day and being calorically deprived by someone….*Sigh*

We see my vet on Monday for Noot, and I know she’ll squeeze Missy in (yup-named her….) so we’ll see if she is preggo (though I checked online and emailed breeders and it does sound as if she’s preggo-she’s firm not saggy-rather then has given birth-which I’m glad. I would hate that she’d had babies in a field somehwere!!!) and figure it from there. Parents have been notified I’ll need part of their house to set up whelping… :p

LOL I actually had people I’d never met from another facility at my work contact me, because through the grapevine they’d heard I was a good authority to help them find the owners of a stray who’d wandered in! Bahahah It’s pretty much a zoo here usually Dave is resigned to it…I apologized, cooked for him and did his laundry and explained gently….’this is not the first time, and not the last time ‘ lol I’ve been bringing home strays and injured animals since I was 6 lol

Can she eat more while with you? I’m sure Mikey will share his food. He is being a super caring boy this week as it is.

Of course Mikey is a sharing dude Though I don’t have them in contact…he’s fine-vaccinated and all but I don’t know her vaccination history so until she she’s my vet, we’re doing sterile evertying and dog shuffling!
She’s not touching kibble even though we have stinky six fish Orijen! Never met a dog who won’t touch it. She’s eating cheese, steak and salmon though I’m trying to take it easy-knowing rescue it’s easy and normal to want to stuff the mouth of a starved animal but you can get refeeding syndrome so we’re taking it slow. She’s also been enjoying bowls of watered down milk.

Yuppers!! We just had our first snow after a mild fall…but it’s been above zero and most is gone…Thank goodness!! Trick or treaters won’t have to wear snowsuits this year again! But yes….it’s coming and it will stay-GROSS!!

Oh poor bunny.   Those nasty ol ulcers.   I heard of this on BS  and 2 x on BB.   Ulcers in the eye.  What a strange place to get an ulcer.

You caught it early may it heal and stay away

Hey, K&K! Glad to hear from you but sorry it had to be a negative thread. I’m glad to hear Noot’s eye has healed. ((((((NOOT)))))) sending vibes for his continued health. How old is he anyways?

Noot is going on 11 if the home that surrendered him was right…I mean unless you had them as babies you’ll just never know for sure, but he’s aroudn 10-11 by records and teeth.

He’s doing awesome-I ordered apple banana critical care because the anise flavor is yucky…He’s eating kibbies of course(preferrring little martins over oxbow lol) but nothing wrong with some awesome wet food like critical care. He’s loving the better flavor. (Oh I should say-I’m not force feeding…I’m mixing it up on a plate and giving it to him and he’s just eating it) I’m trying to put some weight on him, he’s a tad too skinny for my preference (vet said too, that he’s thin-though not worried-we’d both feel better if he had a bit of chub) so we’re working with a bit of organic oats as well.
