I’ve copy/pasted this from another forum, but I hope no one minds. It would’ve taken forever to type it again.

My Yorkie/Chihuahua cross, Jenna, is scheduled for her dental tomorrow (May 23) along with ‘the family dog’, Ebon (dachshund/Pomeranian/husky cross) who is having her spay at the same time. Have to drive thirty miles to town to have them in at 7 AM. (Being an insomniac means I’ll be about useless at that hour.) Naturally GA is always a worry for me no matter the animal undergoing it, but especially these two as it will be Ebon’s first and Jenna always comes home almost comatose from her dentals and doesn’t often eat for hours afterwards. This complicates her stomach and blood sugar troubles. Plus we’re not sure she doesn’t have CT so intubating her always stresses both of us. She’s a very nervous dog with separation anxiety and I hate seeing that flare up as well. Jenna also had a lump suddenly appear on her muzzle last week that is either a histiocytoma or a mast cell…either way it’s not in the best place for removal and I’m scared of what the pathology will be.

Can I ask for any vibes going spare that both their procedures go well without complications and they come home to quick recoveries, please? Thank you

BTW…Woot! First new post from my mobile!

Thanks everyone. Just dropped them off and it never fails to leave me gutted how Jenna tries to climb up to my shoulder to avoid the vet (even though Dr. H is the best…but poor Ebon backed away and barked at her )
*sigh* They need one of those galleries so you can sit back and watch the procedure with a good strong cuppa…lol.

I hope everything goes well! I am trying my best to keep my tiny dog’s mouth clean with all 20 teeth she does have. She is only 6 and has had dental work done about once every 2 years. My mom just had eight of our dogs in for dentals. 😮

Have you heard about Nutri-Cal? You can get it at most pet stores and it is basically a sugar-gel. Not something you want to use every day, but you just give them a little (if they don’t eat it you just rub a little on the gums) to keep their blood sugar up! When my dog was a puppy she would play so much she would forget to eat and become hypoglycemic because she was so tiny.

Yes I do and I had forgotten I could use that for her. Thanks Kyt!
She’s home now, but very groggy. Poor thing. Her nose is all stitched up and gross looking. Vet says she won’t be quite herself for about 24 hours.
Ebon is required to stay the night at the surgery and we pick her up tomorrow morning. Rules for abdominal procedures. The house is so quiet without her here.
Jenna’s ‘lump’ has been sent off for analysis. Doc said it felt a bit firm and that concerned her. So if we could please have continued vibes for Jenna that it’s benign.
Thanks everyone. Binky vibes are the best!

Waiting is always the worst part. Best wishes that everything comes back clear and free!

Good on you getting Ebon spayed! Unspayed dogs, like unspayed rabbits, don’t make very good pets!

Believe me, we’ve had enough dogs. Spaying was never an issue with this pup. More than one of her would be too much! 0_o
Jenna is doing much better tonight with the exception that food and water are going down rough. But she’s eating anyway. Lol…don’t come between this little girl and her next meal!

Headed to bed now even after several hours’ sleep this afternoon. I’m just so glad she’s not as glazed over as she was.

Ebon is now home and already I can see it’s going to be a labour of Hercules keeping her activity levels down for a week.

I’m miffed…$1000 for both if them yesterday and they don’t include the cone to keep Ebon away from her sutures?? We have to go back and buy one if she tears at them.
Doesn’t seem right. We used to get collars as a given. Humph.

Glad they are both home now. I know, it seems like we are being nickel and dimed more than ever, everywhere for everything.
