  My holland lop has been shaking her head and itching at her ears for a month now. She has no change in appetite and is binking and happy. I have however noticed she grinds her teeth at night. I looked in her ears and noticed they look very waxy, similar to a human ears when they have lots of yellowish brown ear wax.
  I went to the store and was told that Vets Best ear relief would be okay to use but I was reading the ingredients and noticed they are essential oils. Calendula, Clove oil, Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Tea tree oil, Silica, Yucca, and Echinacea.
  Are these oils safe in rabbits.?
  Has anyone used this before on their rabbits.?
  I read a lot of controversial stuff on essential oils and rabbits so I don’t want to try it out just yet

  I got a hold of my vet and they told me not to use that. No essential oils in bunny ears, they said it might be infection but this has been going on for like two months now. She has a very big appetite and runs around like normal.
  I guess I’ll schedule a day to take her in, unless there is any suggestions because I really think it’s just a waxy ear has anyone else went through this?

  I would say not to use essential oils, especially not in the ear. Some can cause ototoxicity and some are not safe if ingested. If it’s an infection, then antibiotics should do the trick. The vet may also recommend an ear wash if necessary. There are dog/cat ones that can be used, but you have to be careful since rabbits are prone to having adverse reactions when it come to their ears. So yes, definitely make an appointment.
  
  My only experience with this is an ear infection that migrated from the sinuses. My Wooly has chronic sinus problems and sometimes bacteria builds up. Everything is connected in there, so infection can spread from the sinuses to the ear. He has never had true head tilt, but he will hold his ear funny if he’s having an issue. He has, however, had mild facial paralysis which can occur with ear infections. We have experimented with different oral antibiotics and ear washes. But his case isn’t typical. There’s no reason to think your bun won’t be just fine after a single course of antibiotics.
