  Has anyone heard of or used Vetericyn Hot Spot Spray for their bunny’s sore hocks? My bunny chewed her bare hock spot yesterday until it bled so I was searching for something to help relieve the irritation.

  It looks like something I would try, but unfortunately I have no experience with this brand.

  If her hock is to the point it’s bleeding she will probably need oral antibiotics to prevent abscessing. Poor thing. Make sure her cage stays really clean and she has very soft flooring. Memory Foam Bath Mats work well.
  
  Sorry but I have no knowledge of that particular spray. I recommend asking your vet. He/she may have an alternative suggestion.

  I do have a similar experience. Not sore hocks, but urine scald on the hocks. My Lancelot has had health problems and poops and pees everywhere. He sits in his pee too. I have puppy pee pads covering the floor in the bedroom. He pees everywhere and it doesn’t take much for the fur to fall off his hocks and they get urine scald. Sore and red. Keeping the cage clean is super important for raw hocks no matter the cause. For me that means changing out puppy pee pads at least twice a day, and keeping a dry layer of hay in the liter box. I give Lancelot vetrinary fleece to relax on. I change it out too. It’s nice and soft and he spends a great deal of time on it. I agree that an antibiotic would be a good idea. As far as topicals – I would probalby prefer to try something that dries. Like a liquid spray, a liquid that is applied with cotton, etc. I use sudacrem on his skin when if it gets scalded and irritated, But my vet advised me to go easy with the cream on his hocks, You want to make sure the hocks stay dry. Using too much cream could cause them to remain soft, raw, and irritated. So if it is a petroleum/cream based product, I’d use it sparingly.

  Just want to thank you all for your input. The Vetericyn spray is not a cream it is a liquid spray so I thought I would give it a try.
  It seems to be working good so far after one week. There is hair growing back on those spots! I spray a couple times a day, hopefully it continues to help, so far so good!
