Hey guys, so yesterday I took Chase to the vet for a check up for the first time. The vet told me he is around 3-4 months old. I gave him a poop sample to test and today I found out that it came up positive for Coccidia
. The vet gave me Albon and I have to give Chase .4 ml two per day for 10 days. I just got the first dose for today after a struggle haha. When do you guys recommend on giving the second dose? I have work from 1-9 today, so should I give him the dose right before I go to work, or when I get home? He seems to be fine right now after taking the medicine, I am thinking f waiting til after work just so I can be around and monitor him again after the second dose.Also after giving the medicine, there is a little of the medicine left over in the syringe, I am planning on washing it out, but I just wanted to make sure that, that is the right thing to do, or to leave it for the next dose?

The best way is to give the medicine at somewhat regular intervals, compatibly with your working schedule. If it’s 2 per day, I assume it’s a dose every 12 hours? (if you don’t know, do check in telephonically with the vet). Once you’ve roughly made a timetable, follow that and you’ll be good to go. It’s better to give the dose a little bit later than too close to the previous one. It happened that I would be 1 or 2 hours late on bunny medicine (and my own medicines, lol) , but I’ve always preferred that.
Personally, I always wash out the syringes with warm water after each use… if the medicine leftover inside gets all sticky, the syringe won’t be working as smoothly as it should. Also, leftover medicine is not being stored correctly, so it could be ineffective. Try to be as precise as possible when sucking up the meds (an insuline syringe will do the job), so that you won’t waste a lot of it and save money

Thank you very much! I have to base it on the time I work but it is roughly 10-11 hours between each dose. And yea I washed it out thinking that it could get stuck in there after a while. Thanks for your help!
